Ancora Park - Sunplace Hotels & Resorts

The hotel is in a lovely upscale and calm area 1 km from Praia do Camilo and Porto de Mos and 2 km from the city center. There is a bus stop close by but unfortunately the don't operate in the evening. We had a car some of the days which made it easier. We stayed in the brand new apartment building close to the pool. The rooms are modern and pretty and also had a fridge, which was really good. Large balcony with great views. Nice pool area with comfortable sun beds. There a lots of activities you can book, which is good if you haven't planned or booked anything yourself.

It would be good if there was an access point to the hotel from the back, if you walk from Ponta da Piedade you need to walk around the front of the hotel, which is quite a bit longer. No restaurants close to the hotel and to eat hotel buffets every day is not fun. The balcony chairs were not comfortable. Not very important, but there was no lable on the bathroom products, so you didn't know if it was schampoo, conditioner or bath gel.

Place was so clean and spacious. The pool was massive it was amazing, can pay €20 deposit for 2 beach towels and renew whenever and get your money back after your stay. The pool never felt busy or crowded even when all the sun loungers were full. Our room was clean and had a modern look, the mini fridge was so handy and the balcony was really nice too. The beds were super comfy with a blanket (too hot for a duvet) there was air conditioning to keep it at room temperature. Good lighting in the bathroom to do make-up as well as a full body mirror. The staff were always helpful (nice to know that the reception was open for 24 hours) they really got to know you and made sure you were having a nice time and were safe.

Only downside was a lack of hangers and drawers, can't really complain though.

The pool is wonderful! It was such a perfect location and very clean. The rooms are large and it was great to have the extra table and chairs. The bathroom is lovely with walk in shower and plenty of space as well. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. Having a terrace was also excellent for sunset and drying towels. There was plenty of parking for our car and town was accessible by a short walk. Staff was very kind and responded to anything we needed.

The hotel restaurant is a bit limited and the food is not as good as one would expect. Breakfast is expensive and there was not much of a selection. It should be included in the price of the room. We had hoped to put our bikes in the room as well too, since there was extra space but we were not allowed to. We also did not like having to wear the mandatory armband for the entire week.

Everything was immaculately clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. They helped us booking all sorts. Very nice team. Good bar/restaurant service.

Lack of suitable storage in rooms - no drawers or shelves for two people to unpack so was quite inconvenient. We had three hangers each in our wardrobe. So, that’s not very well thought out (the hotel staff gave us extra hangers to help) and would recommend rethinking storage options in rooms. Personal preference but bed was a bit annoying - only twins available for us but that may have been due to availability at the time we booked. We also had to pay five euros when we lost our room card and they only accepted cash. Not a big thing but we thought it was a little bit unusual and a bit of an inconvenience at the end of our holiday when starting to run low on cash. Not had that with a hotel before.

the swimming pool is huge and very clean, the property is spacious with a lovely rooftop and garden. The bed is very comfortable, they say two single beds but they put one big sheet on them and it’s just like a double. The cocktails 8 euros for 2 during happy hour is so worth it, they are delicious. The resort is beautiful, 10 mins from the best beach (Dona Ana) and 15 mins from town (we took Ubers to town for only 4 euros). The staff is wonderful and they offer fabulous trips (grotto, caves, dolphin watch) with discounts. Thé equipment in the villa is quite random and missing a few things but when we asked the reception they brought us everything we needed. i have nothing bad to say about this place, I would definitely recommend it’s a great location in a quiet area but close to everything!

The hotel is beautiful and very modern but very far from anything. Cleaning staff and reception were very friendly! Minimum of 20mins walk to the town… not ideal!

Food was very expensive and bland! Breakfast was terrible! Some of the staff at the bar/ restaurant were incredibly rude! Would not return! Also a huge building site next door! Overlooking the pool!

The entire hotel was new,clean modern with a very good sized bedroom and balcony with an excellent bathroom and perfect shower. There was a small empty fridge which was good as it allows you to place your own products in it including milk to use with the good kettle to make your own tea and coffee,,not a coffee machine just a good kettle and cups for tea lovers like me. The pool itself was the biggest I have ever come across in any hotel ACTUALLY 50 m long, you should highlight this more, it is a excellent pool for swimming with 2 excellent pools of different depths for children and toddlers. The entire pool area was never overcrowded with good toilets. Lunchtime snacks were good but very limited, only pizza. There was a good value afternoon drinks promotion which made for a pleasant afternoon with not even a hint of it being rowdy around the pool or bar area.

No drawers or shelves for clothes plenty of hanging area with hangers, we were assured this would be rectified for next year it seems to have been a oversite. No access to a warm shower if required after a 10am checkout with a transfer at 3pm we used pool shower ,a common area to shower and a change would be better. Management noted this issue

Lovely little individual single-storey apartments set in attractive, well-tended grounds. Plenty of space for two people. Effective air-con and good wifi. Fabulous Olympic-size swimming pool. It's a 12-minute walk to Porto de Mos beach or even less to the clifftop paths around the lighthouse. Spar supermarket isn't far for basics, or it's 1.7km on foot to Intermarche.

There's a simple kitchenette with dishes and pans but very few implements for anyone who actually wants to cook. The kitchen comes with a tea towel but no detergent or clothes for washing dishes, or any way of draining them!

Fantastic swimming pool. Clean pool towels available daily. Location was very central to the old town. Taxis cheap, generally between 5 and 8 Euro. Apartments were spacious, well maintained and clean. Fresh towels and cleaning every day bar Sunday. Very friendly and helpful receptionist staff. Poolside Bar - food very tasty.

You were told to wear security bracelets continually for the period of your stay. I found it by day two very irritating and took it off. The breakfast was a buffet and there was very little variation for the week we were there.

The location is perfect, you can reach Lagos by foot (20mins), surrounding beaches (Praia de Dona Anna and many others), and local hiking places surrounding Ponta Da Piedade. There is even a busstop 5 minutes from Ancora Park that will take you to Lagos in less than 10 minutes if you don't like to walk (1,20 Euro per ride per person). The staff is very friendly. Shout out to the receptionists and the cleaning staff, for always being helpful, friendly and smiling. We had one of the hotel rooms, which were brand new. Spacious rooms, with a balcony looking over the pool. Everything was there: small fridge, kettle with 2 cups, couch,...and an amazing shower.

For the hotel: We liked everything. Maybe some details: a soapholder in the bathroom would be nice, to keep things clean and somewhere to put your shampoo and showergel in the shower. The only dissapointhing thing would be the restaurant (not sure if it's a part of the hotel). We waited 40 minutes for a chicken sandwish and a cheeseburger (people coming after us and ordering the same were served before us). The chips were partially raw, the burger was burned and tasted industrial, the chicken sandwish was dry).
