Location: next to Yamashita Park, 5 mins to Chinatown, 8 mins to Gundam Factory and 15 mins to Red Brick Building. Staff: Excellent! Friendly and helpful (huge thanks to M Sekiguchi san, M Sonoda san and A. Niihara san) Room: We had an amazing room in the Main Building with a view of the bay. Can see Gundam Factory and we watched the fireworks at Osanbashi. May not be the most “modern” but we didn’t need that. Main Building - this was gorgeous. Haven’t seen the rooms in the Tower Building but love the Main Building for that historic look. Café (Main Building) - always a queue so book beforehand. Loved the Neapolitan, Seafood Doria or the pudding!
Nothing!

The staff from Reception to Housekeeping were wonderful - so friendly, helpful and polite . We liked the new Tower Block with a room on the 6th Floor , whilst able to enjoy the atmosphere and facilities of the Old Hotel dating from the early 20th century . Location was good for the Yamashita Park , the Ship and Gondam but we are not great fans of China Town and the crowds it draws. Not many restaurants in the area within walking distance and the Hotel Restaurants , though the food was excellent were really too pricy for us especially when our Daughter and Grandson joined on the 17th March . The room was extremely comfortable , beds , etc pillows a little too soft for us but OK . Liked the spaciousness and able to use my laptop easily . Good view .
Nothing really - everything was great

Room was spacious, clean and big enough for a family of 4. They converted the sofa bed for us. Clean and well maintained. Breakfast very nice, full table service with plenty of choice. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Concierge helped us locate a lost bag on the train. Excellent location, right near station and Chinatown. Close to little supermarket. Excellent coin laundry on 6th floor - although they should ditch the washer/dryer combos for regular washers and dryers that don't just steam your clothes and take forever.
Can't control the temperature in your own room, it's centrally controlled. It was way too hot, had to sleep with the window open.

It was my second time staying, after 4 months of first time, and the reservation team Sakiko gave me the same room. The front desk manager Tanaka san was also there to say goodbye to us. He even mentioned that they are planning to upgrade the inroom clock to a digital clock to solve the problem of the ticking sound I complained previously. The service continues to be top notch.
Though the bedsheets and blankets are very clean, I discovered a stain on the mattress protector at 10pm. The team swiftly changed both bedsheets and mattress protector. It was unfortunate but I hope the housekeeping team could do a better job, to match the service team.

it was not a common experience in Asia, that when you send your room requests for a famous hotel and they apologised to you for not able to fully satisfying you, and then asking you to probably consider an alternative hotel. Most hotels, would reply you that they will try their best. Majority would try, but they won’t do their best. Who would spend so much effort on a customer who would only spend one night! But Hotel new grand was different from the rest. The team definitely tried their best, from the start of my booking, till I waved goodbye. The room reservation team, Sakiko, was always honest and found time to elaborate on my room choices, the pros and cons of staying in her hotel, as she simply worried that their historic hotel would be too old for my liking. The lobby manager, Mr Tanaka, accompanied me during my checkin and checkout, showed me my room, assured me that everything was checked, and reconfirmed with me whether the room was to my liking. When I mentioned a minor issue during checkout that the in-room clock having a ticking sound, he quickly recorded down in his notes. The rest was memory, of the window view, of the running water that fills a bathtub within few minutes, of squeaky clean room, of staff and doorman who greeted u everytime you stepped out or went in the hotel, of their signature napolitan pasta and Seafood Doria. Thank you, Hotel new grand for making me fall in love with you, and Yokohama.

Excellent view of the waterfront from a very pretty hotel! The staff was very kind and accommodating. Really friendly service from start to finish. Good luggage storage as well, and very close to a train station!
For me the bed was not super comfortable because the pillows were very flat. The room was also quite warm and a little dated. It's an older hotel so I didn't mind as everything worked well, and the age of the hotel is part of the charm, but I think some people would be a bit disappointed by the fixtures so just want to point this out.

I liked the lounge on the 16th floor where we stayed ! Having a quiet space to rest and have a drink or a cup of tea was lovely!
We arrived early at the hotel (after our long flight from Australia )and my 88 year old mother, who was travelling with my husband and I ,was not feeling well and needed to lie down. Our room was not ready but at 2pm the reception staff said we could access our rooms . When we checked out on the 18th November we were presented with an extra bill for both rooms for accessing our rooms before 3pm,We had not been informed of the extra charge when we checked in . I felt that it was unreasonable for the hotel to put an extra charge on our bills when the extra charge had not been disclosed to us at checkin . The only reason why we needed to access our rooms at 2pm was to care for my elderly mother.

Hotel is in a good location as it is within a 5 to 10 min walking distance to the nearest train station (Motomachi-Chukagai), is within walking distance to the nearby chinatown street with good range of f&b options and near Gundam Factory Yokohama. The building itself is pretty old and may appeal to guests who prefer a classic looking accommodation option.
There was heavy lift usage on a Sunday morning, probably the hotel was holding an event and we had to wait for the lift for around 15min.

Stayed here for one week. The room was spacious with a gorgeous view of Minatomirai. We stayed in a triple room and all 3 beds were very comfortable. Staff were very professional and polite. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Yokohama.
The only thing is if the fridge was for us to use (keep our drinks cold when it was super hot outside), it would have been great. Having it stocked with mini-bar items may be convenient for some people but I would rather have used it to keep our own drinks cold.

The location was absolutely perfect. Coming from busy Tokyo it was a nice reprieve to be able to see the ocean. The hotel itself was gorgeous, very comfortable and the staff made it so easy to add an extra bed with no trouble at all for a very reasonable price/night. Very clean. They also provided our 6 year old with her own tiny children's slippers on arrival.
completely our fault, but we didn't realise the beds were so narrow. We thought they were a double size but were a king single size.
