Adhisthana Hotel Yogyakarta

1. The room was very clean and decorated beautifully, as was the whole hotel, really cool, modern style. Liked the small finishing touches, e.g. games in Reception. 2. Comfy large bed and good quality linen and towels. 3. Staff were nice and helpful, e.g. helped us rent a motorbike for a good price and it came very quickly. 4. Good location as close to street with variety of restaurants (Jl. Prawirotaman) and nice ice cream shop (Tempo Gelato Prawirotaman). 5. Didn't use the swimming pool as it was always raining, but it looked really nice. 6. Air con worked well. Drinking water provided in the room. 7. WiFi worked well in room and in their onsite cafe. N.B. Not the hotel's fault but good information to know if you are planning to visit Yogyakarta - many western restaurants / bars are still not open or have even closed down (book 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐚 𝐛𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥 in advance as gets very busy, food was worth the wait though!). Similarly, you currently cannot go to the top of Barbadour Temple (amongst the 'bells') but tickets are still the same price - still amazing temple, but very different experience to photos online. If you do go, get there early (6:30am) to beat the crowds. Can easily drive & park there yourself if confident on a motorbike - same for Prambanan Temple. No longer a shadow puppet show at the Royal Palace, (only once a week (Tuesday evening) at the Sonobudoyo Museum). No longer illuminated pedal cars or huge park next to Royal Palace, just a building site. Be careful of the 'batik mafia' who will try and encourage you to visit student galleries for 'free' when on Jalan Malioboro (main shopping street / market area). Do recommend: speaking to the amazing puppet makers in grounds of Sonobudoyo Museum, visiting Taman Sari Water Castle and, for an incredible and authentic batik experience, visit Leksa Ganesha Batik Gallery.

1. The rooms really are small - fine for just sleeping in, but very limited space, we only had 1 backpack for 2, not sure where you'd put more luggage. 2. Very small rail for hanging 2-3 items of clothes.

Ambience, location, the aesthetic and the staffs.

There is no lift in this hotel. For a family with small kids, if u have baby stroller when ure room at 1st/2nd floor that will be a pain. Breakfast menu options is very limited.

Despite its worn shutter exterior appearance, inside is lovely with a comfortable lounge seating area. The staff were also lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was included, and although a limited selection was adequate. There are some nice cafés in the area and we would recommend ViaVia resto in the next street. ViaVia also has a tour business for those temple trips, which we also recommend. Our room was clean, as was the bed linen. There is a cafe within the hotel that provides decent meals, snacks, and drinks, which can be ordered online using the table QR code. A pleasant stay in Jogja.

Call to prayer can be annoying 5 times per day starting a 03:30 with the speakers being so close to the front of the hotel . Also, to close the bedroom door quietly when you exit, you need to use the key card to operate the door handle outside. Many guests chose to simply keep slamming the door until shut. Very annoying.

The hotel was really great and with a perfect position. It’s very quiet and the staff is excellent, near to the center and providing help for transportation to the airport if needed. The breakfast is ok although not necessarily the best I have ever had.

The only major flaw, which causes the present review stars is that the wi-fi was absolutely bad and would not reach our room. After we asked to fix it or, anyways, to find a solution together, they nicely answered that they would send someone, although this never happened and then of course we were too busy to wait there a couple hours more. Yeah, we could have asked, but sometimes you don’t have the time to do so. Anyways, we think that Wi-fi when abroad (my husband lives in Indonesia but internet data for the phone is expensive without wifi!) is paramount.

A very good stay when you will be out and about all day but want comfort once back. Excellent location- the street running parallel is full of lively bars and cafes and a beautiful silver store. Very very aesthetic and pleasant ambience. The quite in our room was incredible. The room is very cosy albeit tad small. Good mattress and pillow. The on site restaurant had great food. Before arrival, we booked a cab through them for airport pickup at 11PM and they responded promptly.

The restaurant timings are a bit wonky. We went in around 12 noon and they were shut. They said they will reopen at 4. And the swimming pool didn't seem very clean. Probably because there was construction happening right next to it.

The staff was always friendly and welcoming. Also really liked the atmosphere and design of the hotel. The patio inside really feels disconnected from the bustling city outside and invites to stay and relax in. The rooms are exceptionally quiet and there was no noticeable noise during my stay. Also enjoyed the restaurant which I can really recommend to start the day in with a coffee.

Nothing to mention. The hotel is not central but it’s a nice location and everything within Yogyakarta can be reached easily from there.

The property is very pretty and comfortable, and the staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and the bed linen was fresh.

The air circulation in the room is very limited, so it was constantly moist and with a thick and stale smell that was not pleasant - from the moment we stepped in. I thought that it would not make sense changing rooms, are all of them had the same configuration. Trying to air the room is not that easy because there is only one air passage (the main door), and the mosquitos will then become a problem (luckily I had some repellent with me). Breakfast was okay. There was only very few beds by the pool, we did not have the chance to enjoy it.

Lovely peaceful and airy setting with an attractive pool giving a calming vibe. Staff friendly and quick to attend to any question or issue. In house restaurant was fine and decent value, although ViaVia round the corner is better quality for more or less the same prices

Breakfast options were a bit limited and the quality of the coffee at breakfast was poor (although the servers were friendly and quick). Bed sheets had a strange stain on and weren't replaced during the stay

Very nice hotel, located on street with many hotels and restaurants. Hotel was very quiet, you really cant hear the sound from the street. Very nice style, rooms very exceptionally clean, nicely furnished. Pool area was very quiet and clean.

We missed some space to put our clothes in (like wardrobe), rooms only have hang with one shelf. Breakfast was tasty but there were not enought fruit, coffee and eggs e.g once in a while, so we had to inform the service to put there some more (which was absolutely no problem)

Staff were wonderful, our rooms were perfect for our 5 night stay (adjoining rooms of standard room & studio suite - kids got the standard room...). Hotel itself is lovely, well located as it is very close to several top notch but super affordable restaurants. Short Grab Ride to Malioboro St & Tugu for the 'downtown' vibe if you want it. Pool was very nice. Breakfast was pretty good and the sticky rice option was yummy.

The bathrooms need a little bit of a spruce up. Clean and functional, but were a bit musty smelling and some unfortunate discolouration around sink area. Just detracts from an otherwise perfect room. Our fridge wasn't working, but they replaced it very promptly. In fact, any time something ran out, they attended to it immediately, great service.
