Alliance Lille - Couvent Des Minimes

Great place, excellent use of the old cloistered courtyard for the glass covered bar and restaurant areas. The staff were very nice and helpful and we all (family of four) loved the breakfast!

The kitchen was closed on Sunday night. A lot of restaurants are closed in Lille on a Sunday so this is precisely the day you want to be able to fall back on your hotel. Skipping dinner was probably okay for the austere order of the Minimes monks who built this old convent; it's less okay in an establishment presenting itself as a luxury hotel. Going hungry is not luxurious.

It’s in a good open location by the canal and just a short walk round the corner into the old town. The original Flemish style brickwork on the exterior and around the courtyard.

The property has lost a lot of its character in the renovations being replaced by 1990s bland. There are details that could be improved - nothing major but compared to some other 4 star hotels it looked a bit worn around the edges in places: the seals of the shower screen in the bathroom; marks on carpets; in the bedroom a window handle was missing and the window couldn’t be opened; the “fresh” cut fruit at breakfast looked not so fresh

The cleanliness of our room. The attention was not there. This could have been better. I mentioned this to reception and they were super decent very undertanding. It was not a complaint.

Check in staff were polite and helpful. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, which had a varied selection and the staff were very attentive.

Morning Restaurant running out of baguettes at 9.15 in the morning!! I know it is petty,but the hallway carpet from lift to room could have done with either a good clean or be replaced it was very stained as it brought down the overall feel of the hotel. Didn't like that toilet was in separate room from sink and bath, was very noisy to use during night as acted like an echo chamber. Also didn't like being left outside in car park in freezing cold when they had a fire drill, no one from the hotel came to check on us and tell us that the drill was over.

Beautiful building with very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely relaxing bar area and they have private parking and we were able to take our bikes in the room to keep them safe. room was lovely with an amazing and spacious bathroom. very comfortable beds and amenities. Location is excellent for an easy walk into town but still quiet and calm area.

The restaurant and bar didnt serve food suitable for hungry cyclists but there were places close by which did so not too much of an issue. Its clearly a very nice exclusive place to eat! the car park was a bit confusing getting in and out and often full but the staff were very helpful and we managed to park in there during the stay though the tickets often needed exchanging at the desk and needing staff to help make the barriers work adding to their workload and the wait to speak to concierge staff.

Reception area was very clean, as was restaurant and bar area. Couldn't fault any of these areas. Staff were helpful and friendly. Bedroom was very clean and a good size.

Bathroom needs updating. Toilet needed a good clean as bowl was not bad but was certainly off colour. Grout between tiles was black where it is old and needs renewing. Beds were very hard, suspected they were old and worn out. Given the price you are paying you would not expect these issues.

The rooms were ample size and comfortable. The bar area was great for meeting pre or post going out in Lille and the bar Manager remembered our drinks from the previous evening… not sure if that was a good or bad thing!!!

Unfortunately our room faced inwards and we couldn’t open the windows so had no fresh air. There was only 1 plug socket in the room so not ideal for charging phones.

This is an interesting and good hotel located close to the canal, park, road network and yet is walking distance from the centre of Lille. Its striking architecture inside gives it a special ambience and the private car park makes it easy if you prefer secure parking. Staff are friendly. Rooms are OK and quite spacious.

Breakfast is good but at €19 per person its a bit pricey.

The room was clean and very nicely presented. The ambience of the whole hotel is lovely, hence why I've stayed there so many times over the last few years. Parking is easy as well.

Nothing really. It's not inexpensive, but quality hotels like this always come at a premium. The only thing that bothered me a little was the fact that the bedroom lighting is too low by far.

The location is a dream, both the building and the surroundings. It's very close to the Citadelle, plus a street with a lot of restaurants and bars is at walking distance. The interior of the building is stunning and the pictures make no justice of it. The room was quiet and comfortable.

The room looked dated. The shower didn't work as expected, or at least not as you would expect for that price range.
