Hotel de L'Opéra

The location is super & the staff was very nice and helpful. The view from the front is beautiful and there are many great shops around the area as well as close proximity to several tram lines.

Although the view is beautiful, the front of the hotel can get quite loud evenings as there is a club right next door and people tend to congregate under the hotel awning (especially when it rains). If you are not vacationing, rather working here, I suggest you take a room in the back or higher up. The staff will report to the club/police if too loud, but by then you’re already awake …

The location is fabulous. The balcony had a fantastic view! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was free WiFi and it worked perfectly well. We stayed here overnight and it was absolutely fine - would come back for another short visit.

The decor is tired, woodchip walls etc. This didn't bother us, but just to be clear on why we didn't give it 10/10. There was a TV but no batteries in the remote. The room was absolutely fine for a night or two, probably too small for anything more than a weekend. For an overnight stay, we were very happy.

This review is actually for hotel 4 Soeurs, owned by the same company. We had booked hotel de l'Opera but we were told we were upgraded to hotel 4 soeurs, a three-star hotel rather than a 2 star. One very good thing was that hotel 4 Soeurs had air conditioning. Hadn't thought I would need it but boy was I surprised! It gets hot in Bordeaux and we were very grateful to have the AC. Location was great, morning coffee outside the hotel was a bonus. Beds were comfortable enough.

Shades or blinds on the bathroom window would have been appreciated as the sun streamed in very early in the morning.

Excellent location especially as we had a balcony that overlooks the main square everything was within walking distance, the room was cleaned every day & fresh towels left and the bed was comfortable. The main road just outside was noisy at night with windows open but fine when closed. Excellent restaurant just around the corner (Entrocotte) highly recommend.

The main entrance was a bit dingy and lift was tiny but fine if you're on 1st floor. Reception & check in was around the corner beside the restaurant & was easy enough to find.

Location is just perfect. You are in the middle of everything. Hotel is bed and breakfast and thats what it is, nothing more. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. You can also leave your luggage at the hotel. The check in was in four sisters hotel which is next to it, but i received an advance email about it, so it was not a problem at all

No wifi in the room. Only wifi connection i got was downstairs at breakfast. Breakfast is very limited: pastry and yogurt, not an english breakfast of course. Noise from other rooms is ridiculous, you can here everything what is going on and said in the room next to you

You need to check in at their sister hotel around the corner then get the key and code there. The restaurant (part of the same company) has delicious food and friendly staff.

The weather was very hot so the room was very stuffy (ours faced the covered courtyard in the centre), so we had the fan on. Opening the window didn't make any difference due to the roof over the courtyard.

Night time staff service was excellent!

They did not explain that I must check in for Hotel de L’Opera at the Four Seasons And it’s location was some minutes away. It was midnight and I had a large suitcase. But the night stuff was exceedingly kind and upgraded me and took care of everything 

The room was functional. Situated on a main street and a good view of the opera and the square Place de la Comédie. A few steps from the old city and the pedestrian street Ste Catherine. Many restaurants, bars are on a walking distance. The city is very well served by public transport.

The room lakes air conditioning. As it is an old building, a window unit will be a big plus. There was no safe in the room. Installing one is a must in a this context.

location perfect for exploring Bordeaux everywhere in easy walking distance. You cannot get more central than this.

Original room plumbing was faulty but after complaining to receptionist was changed to another room which was cosy and even had a little street facing balcony. Street can be noisy at night but that’s what is expected if you are located on a a busy square.

For a typical small room it was well laid out so it felt spacious enough with the balcony as well. Heating was good, bed fine, not noisy at night.

Check in was a bit confusing as you have to go around the corner to the seven sisters hotel to do so. There was a sign but we didn't see it in the confusion. No kettle.
