Solara Resort by Bellstar Hotels

This hotel is located walking distance from Canmore town centre (about 10 minutes walk and you can go different ways) or you can catch a free bus in. The area is extremely clean and safe and surrounded by wild bunnies! The property is really nice and is almost like a home from home. We were upgraded to a two bed lodge due to their bookings - which meant we pretty much had our own apartment space. The rooms are extremely well equipped - with BBQ and all the tools you need in the kitchen. Our bathroom was amazing! The staff are friendly. The resort is quiet (it has allocated quiet times!). If you want to be in the centre of Canmore then this is not ideal for you but if you want to really get stuck into the feeling of Canadian life then stay here! You’re only 5 mins walk from the new Canmore shop area which has cafes, bars and the bus stop to get into Banff. We used the bus to get into Banff which is very reliable and cheap!

The hot tub is good but there was no guidance how to activate the jets. We accessed the complimentary bike hire but they are literally an array of bikes they have collected over the time and it’s hit or miss to get one suitable for you.

Location rooms cleanliness

Rudeness of staff to refuse us when we asked for some water to drink during check out since the store next to the resort was closed and we were in a rush as we had Calgary airport shuttle to catch. We were told to go to the grocery store to buy water, though we had a Calgary bus to catch. I fail to understand how a 4 star resort can refuse water to their guest especially when the store next to them was closed!!

The suite was very comfortable for 4. The table and chairs were comfortable and roomy. The bed mattress was excellent. The kitchen was well stocked. I am a wine drinker so appreciated the wine storage capacity It was a cold winter time, so appreciated the underground parking

Despite the written assurances on the website and the Covid information sent to us, the reception staff did not ask for proof of vaccination. There were many guests with no masks. Limited my comfort outside my room. The kitchen was well stocked, with the exception of a egg turner - a very basic kitchen tool.

Condo was a nice size. Beds were comfortable. Grill was a nice bonus. Property location was great, close to everything. Only 20 minutes to Banff. Cute little restaurant downstairs.

Furniture was pretty old/worn. Pool area was not great, too stuffy. No housekeeping is sort of a bummer, you have to get your own fresh towels from the laundry facility.

Solara Resort was easy to find. The condo we were in was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was complete with the basic necessities for our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. We each had a massage at One Wellness, and again the staff and massage therapists were welcoming, friendly and excellent.

We went to the pool/hot tub once, but the area was crowded and very noisy. There were people walking past our room during the quiet hours who did not respect that we may be sleeping or trying to sleep. These were minor annoyances as we knew there were many families and at least two wedding parties staying at the resort while we were there.

We loved this place. It was located in a quiet area with parking in the basement. We had a fantastic view of the Three Sisters from our large patio that had table and chairs and a BBQ grill. It was very clean, comfy beds, lots of hot water, a fully stocked kitchen, and a washer and dryer with detergent. It was also one of the few places we rented that had A/C.

Roomy suite with kitchen and laundry. We made our own breakfast and lunches in our the kitchen which saved us money. The suite was big enough for one couple and two single adults with no complaints from the person who slept on the sofa bed. The shower was nice with rain head, handheld, and side jet options. It was a short walk from the town core. The view of the mountains was very nice.

The hot tub was always busy so we didn't bother using it.

Overall room design was neat.

There was no hot water in the building for a couple of days due to some boiler trouble, which is understandable. The front desk staff, however, did not feel it was a big deal. Only mentioned it to me as a "oh, by the way" on check in, and then became very defensive when I chose to disagree. Anyway, it was just a minor thing.

Very nice accommodations, I didn't use the unit as much as I would like because Canmore is just so beautiful, and I spent the majority of my time outdoors enjoying the scenery and amazing local restaurants right at your fingertips. My balcony had the most beautiful view of the 3 Sisters. Beautiful spot

The walk into town is far, so we drove but it is doable in the summer months.

Bathroom was very big with a huge bath and separate shower. Apartment was nice compared to our friends rooms (they had damaged furniture in 2 different apartments). One bedroom appartment size was good. Hot tub was a very nice size. We enjoyed our stay.

Maybe reception should be a little more friendly. The pool was tiny.
