Liked the proximity to public transport options. This, plus the really friendly service complimented my stay. Additionally, great AC controls, something uncommon in NZ hotels these days with great cleanliness.

I felt as though the room decor was quite dated and tacky. The lack of freshwater available in the mini fridge was also quite disappointing, considering I had to go down to the lobby to ask one of the kind staff for some bottles of water; though I do understand the potential rationale for not having each room equipped with these (COVID-19 restrictions/Enviornmental restrictions). I Would like to articulate that it may be culturally insensitive to provide drinking glasses in guest rooms but not provide a place for guests to collect drinking water where it can be easily accessible without having to use the bathroom sink.

We have been travelling around the South Island and have stayed in many different quality hotels, motels, lodges. The Sofitel was one of the most comfortable and ensured three great night's of sleep. The staff were fabulous: friendly, helpful and totally professional. Look out for Gaston and Toni who were particularly helpful and fun. The gym was spacious and well-equipped - husband was very happy!

Service at the Bar was very slow and one party ahead of us gave up and walked out. It's a sign of the times with lack of resources, sadly.

The staff was very friendly and professional. Everything was pretty much comfortable - the bed, the pillows, the bathrobe and slippers. I really liked the thoughtful small amenities in the bathroom, including a nail file, and good soap/lotion. Breakfast was also quite good. We were also able to park right in front of the building which was convenient for a night stay.

I am always stunned that you need to pay extra for a proper coffee at breakfast, but I’ve seen this at more hotels in New Zealand.

Beautiful room and lounge areas. The bed was incredibly comfortable! Nice view of the Botanic gardens and the Beehive. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Afternoon tea was an inaccurate description. I was excited to get petit fours, macaroons etc, as in the photo. However, a plate of salami/cheese sandwiches and 2 cake stands is hardly the same. Likewise, canapés are not calamari rings, pasta, and vegetable sauce. I feel like this "club" option therefore was a mis-sell and I wish I hadn't spent the extra money on it.

Bed is great and bathroom too, The room itself looks great and I really appreciated getting a very quiet room ( 809). When I come to WLG again I will definitely consider using Sofitel again.

tea and coffee not so good, I brought my own plunger, water and coffee beans and the provided cups too small, a couple of proper Mugs would have been welcome. There were issues with the HDMI port for the flat screen TV and i could not use it as a 2nd screen for my laptop. I also ordered food from elsewhere as your range of vege choices are extremely limited. Not sure if it is normal hotel prices but 30.00 dollars for a club sandwich, I nearly fell of my chair hahaha so i ordered a huge pizza, wedges and brie poppers all delivered for 50.00. from Hells Pizza

Loved the stylish decor, further enhanced by the soft furnishings , pure white fluffy towels, crisp bed linen. The beautiful Balmain toiletries was the ultimate touch of luxury completed a beautiful family wedding occasion to the capital.

Sofitel is a very well located hotel. The brief short walk up from The Terrace Wellington, was a puffer walk. Just gotta pace one's self for that.

We were upgraded to king suite which is great and just in time for my birthday! Room is really spacious and very clean. Great location as its close to restaurants and supermarkets. It's our second time booking here and will surely be back

The location of the property and the staff were incredibly helpful. They couldn’t do enough for you. The best customer experience we have had at a hotel in year’s. And we stay at 5 star hotels all the time. The breakfast was great too.

Staff v helpful and friendly. Check in and check out efficient and quick. we thought the breakfasts were very good, great selection, proper barista coffee, great service. Overall our stay was pretty good. Thanks!

Room a bit on the small side for price. On the evening the restaurant was closed it would have been good to have been able to have perhaps a cafe-bistro style menu we could have eaten from in restaurant. The bar snacks were quite average - a mushroom in a bao bun drowning in hoisin sauce was not good at all.

Their signature dedicated service for their guests, always to please and willingly adjust whatever they can to accommodate your request and make you feel valued. *I was dealing with a very challenging issue during my stay, but the staff made it bearable in all possible ways they could. *I would also like to acknowledge the entire team of Jardin Grill, I did not have to use an EpiPen, and I got to have regular food! It was an excellent prix fixe option.

I don’t have complaints, but a swimming pool will surely give the entire hotel top-notch! Oh wait, the turndown service 😂😂😂😂 I want to ask why is it for two guests? Initially, it made me feel a little sad because I am only by myself, but then I thought, is it just automatic for two people, or is it because I drink so much tea and you want to make my life easier? 😂😂😂😂 and for the two sets of slippers, actually WHY NOT? Hahaha! Right or left, I go up and down my bed. I don’t need to worry because there will be slippers for sure!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh, bless you! 🤍
