Fabulously situated and great view of the harbour on the eastern side of the hotel. It’s great to have the small kitchenette and two beds.

Very slow to retrieve our car from the car park despite the $40 a night charge. Surely this charge (!) implies fast retrieval ..? We understand it was over the Christmas period but you must also expect extra guests and respond accordingly. The valet service phone in the room was never answered. Dining room food was pretty poor — we only went once and I returned my meal. It was lamb and very tough (maybe hogget?) Quite a few wait-staff but it took 20 minutes to bring a glass of wine. Not really good enough.

The location and the cleanliness/attentiveness of staff was great.

The only negative I would say is that we specifically booked the apartment in order to have kitchenette facilities, however when we arrived there were no kitchenware provided whatsoever in terms of capacity to cook and prepare food. Knives and forks etc and a few plates/cups but no saucepans/frypan/spatula/cooking spoons/tongs etc. Lastly no plug was provided during the whole stay for the kitchen sink despite asking for one so it was almost impossible to do dishes easily Due to this we did need to ask for these to be supplied which was in the end provided, however it was frustrating that these needed to be asked for in order to utilise one of the main features of the room. We booked a kitchenette so that we wouldn’t need to spend as much money on outings and that’s why it was frustrating.

Rydges is a lovely accommodation in a great location right next to the water. The pool and spa and gym were all great too and the breakfast buffet was good quality and great for the kids. The rooms were all big enough for a family of four and the beds were pretty comfortable.

We had constant troubles with the TV as we couldn’t get chrome cast working and at one time we couldn’t get the TV working at all. The staff were mostly fine however there were a few things broken in our room and they were complaisant, non apologetic, abrupt and we had to end up doing the fixes ourselves. We stopped bothering to ask in the end. It’s also frustrating when a hotel promotes a family stay but does not provide any reasonable laundry facilities.

Quiet hotel, big room. Huge TV. Close to where we wanted to be.

Lifts. Only 2 of 3 working, the other one clearly out of order for a long time as had professional sign on it. Took 20 minutes to get down one day - lifts are small so only take a few people when they have suitcases. Would go to one of the top floors, fill up with people and then open at every floor on the way down as people were waiting. Eventually decided to get the lift on the way up then ride it back down again, would probably be still waiting if didn't do that. Wasn't feasible to carry suitcases down multiple flights of stairs.

Staff were amazing, check in and out was fast and easy, when calling reception they were.supper polite and helpful, room was clean, pool. And spa were on point I like how u have towel available in pool area

. We had striped our bed as I had spilt make up on the sheets and placed the sheets with the dirty towels to be replaced when house keeping came they never left us any sheets or and re made the bed,we had left the hotel at 10am Friday morning and return at 2am Saturday morning only to realise so we slept ontop of the blankets lol. I didn't want to bother anyone at that hour we also just wanted to go to sleep (I call reception after we woke up and explained the situation they were very apologetic and said we could have call at anytime they allways available to help) Mistakes can happen it's how we fix them or deal with them..I WOULD SAY UR DOING A GREAT JOB 🙂🙂

Great location and very nice staff. Easy to find even as first time visitors to Wellington and handy for visiting all the major sights of the town and finding good food/drink places near by.

When we stayed there for 2 nights there were a lot (a lot…) of families with kids and the pool area in this hotel is a fairly small indoor pool with a small jacuzzi and a sauna. The whole pool area was very quickly taken over by families. Even when we thought we’ll try go for a swim/sauna later on after 9pm it was still full of families and same again first thing the next morning. We just wanted to have a quick sauna and a swim but left it because the place was absolute carnage. As a non child couple we would’ve appreciated an “adults only” opportunity for swimming and sauna.

The location was a huge plus!! Hotel was very clean and welcoming for travelers. Reception was lovely and efficient. Our room was clean and aircon running as we entered. Curtains were great for a good sleep in and all facilities in room worked well. Both beds were comfortable and warm, the tv was compatible with devices, pots and pans available at reception and all info available via qr code

One elevator was out of order, so making our way to reception during checkout hour was a little time consuming. Pool area wasn't very clean (But understandable as the hotel was filled with families during summer holidays)

Enjoyed our stay, our room was clean, and had a corner view of city which was nice. Enjoyed pool, Sauna and spa. We also got a complimentary bottle of bubbles. Nice touch. Staff were friendly and prompt at clearing tables during breakfast service. Receptionist in the evening was tentative and dealt with minor issues throughout the night to which she had no control over. We also able to have a late check out which we appreciated before driving back home to the Bay.

Breakfast was good however can get very busy from 9-10am that you have to wait or source your own table. A better seating system during these times would be beneficial and avoid other people taking your table while you leave to get food. Although minor but it would be nice to have fresh cream on the buffet.

Our room had a nice city view with a balcony. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Was surprised by the internal opaque window with blind. Good selection of tv channels. Buffet breakfast had a large selection to choose from. Location was very handy to Lambton Quay, dockside and other restaurants.

One of the toilet flush buttons was stuck. Pillows were a bit uncomfortable. Curtains did not completely block out outside light particularly from the Accuro sign on building across the road. One curtain rod was broken, as wand had become unhooked. Air con unit was very noisy and took some time to warm our room. The cupboard door for the fridge seemed loose. There were no instructions for operating the tv remote.

Good location for waterfront and CBD, very friendly and helpful staff and really excellent breakfasts. Rooms are pretty typical for this style of hotel, and the aircon could certainly have been quieter and more effective in ours, but the beds are comfy, they're fairly spacious and we really appreciate a hotel with a decent pool.

Aircon in our room was noisy and didn't go below 18 degrees, seemed to struggle to cool the room (in fairness it was a very hot period of weather though). Desk staff were very pleasant about checking it out too.
