The location was convenient for the city centre and waterfront with bus routes close by and only a short walk downhill to the cable car, but still fairly quiet. The Staten Eatery provided a substantial breakfast with plenty of choices and an excellent dinner menu - pity it was closed on Sat/Sun evenings. The staff were all friendly and helpful especially when a taxi was required. Lovely comfy bed, and the convenience store next door was handy!

The lack of a power point in the bathroom for the hairdryer (shavers only) and no mirror in the bedroom made it awkward to style hair after washing it. I was also very wary of the raised edge on 2 sides of the shower, appprox 10cm high and tiled white like the floor - with no frame or rigid walls to enclose the space, it was easy to forget it was there and stub a toe! An accident waiting to happen perhaps?

Perfect location. Handy to everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable. Lovely helpful staff. Our flight was delayed 24hours and the reception staff were very accommodating and understanding.

A hairdryer was provided, however as there wasn't a wall socket in the bathroom, or a mirror near a wall socket in the living area,, the dryer wasn't much use. The walls are quite thin, so the guests in the room next door sounded like mice scratching around in the walls (I assume they were plugging and unplugging things from the wall) and we could hear their conversations.

The room was lovely and big, was nice to be able to open windows, Personally I don't like mirrors facing the bed however understand this is difficult with hotel rooms. We requested interconnecting rooms, was told you don't do this any longer, was disappointed to find one of the rooms we had had an interconnection door and this was possible. It makes life much easier when you have children and we had a spare bed in our room which we were going to use for one of the children, these rooms were not even on the same floor so was not able to utilise the bed.

I didn't like that we asked for all rooms to be on the same floor and for an interconnecting room. see above comments. was a bit confused about booking the car into the Wilsons Car park., thought we had to pay in the car park not with the hotel so ended up with a ticket for not being out by 8am.

The breakfast was amazing I really enjoyed it :) Also, we optioned to not get our room serviced but they still left Comp towels etc, which was so lovely to come home to, I just didn’t want to be a pain but it was so lovely they just placed it outside our room. Felt very taken care of so thank you 💖

Some of our neighbours were a little loud but thankfully it was sorted by the morning… It can be a little loud from the streets but you just have to close the window and it’s fine. :)

Comfortable and spacious room with excellent beds. The location is superb; five minutes from one of the principal restaurant streets and in the other direction 10 minutes to the main attractions in town. It would be hard to find a more centrally placed hotel. If you overlook the issues about cleanliness and overall tiredness, this is a very good hotel to book if you are in Wellington.

Mercure is a respected and well-known brand. It was disappointing to find that our room had not been cleaned and the corridor outside was dirty. There was no warning about his, just a casual remark that they were finding difficulty getting staff, which proved to be untrue when staff did turn up to clean the adjoining room and hoover the carpets. There are also two universities in town and they must be able to find casual staff from these. This is not up to Mercure's standards. Overall, the hotel looks a little tired

The staff was really friendly, helpful and accomodating. We were coming from Auckland for an event during Waitangi weekend and my friend was able to drop off some of my items I needed for the event ahead of our arrival. The location is central to Cuba, Courtney, Lambton Quay which made travelling to the different locations we needed to go to convenient. The room was clean and the air-conditioning was great especially when we've come back from treks.

The style was dated and the bathroom tiles were a bit slippery if not careful. They also didn't do any clean up during our 3 night's stay but if you're tidy like us then it should be fine. There was also no microwave in our room so heating food was a no go.

The location was a quick walk away from some convenient and fun streets. I could easily get to a dairy, Whitcouls, groceries ect. It was a clean and immaculate room and I found it easy to place and store my stuff

It was kind of awkward trying to find a good place to put my laptop. It wasn't that big of a hotel room (I've stayed in larger). The way of getting in and out via the key card wasn't as easy as, say, a key

Room was very comfortable and well appointed, and had everything we needed. The room we were in was very quiet, even though we were on a Main road. Nice and warm on a cold winters night, didn’t need any extra blankets which was great.

Hard to get a park for when checking in, there is a loading zone out the front, but park in it at your own risk. Whilst tidy, starting to shows signs of wear in hallways and also in the room. Shower nozzle very low, i am 6ft and had to crouch to rinse my hair after washing it.

The hotel is in a good location that is close to many places. The bed is comfortable to give us a good night's sleep. And the shower gives good pressure and heat. The staff at the front desk are helpful and attentive to our needs.

There are two negatives to our stay. First, due to the shortage of staff, there was no daily room service during my three nights stay. Maybe the hotel could give some rate discount or goodies to compensate the lack of the room service. Second, although we stayed at the high floor (level 6) with the window fully closed, we could still hear the loud weekend music or talking from the street as late as 1am. The noise disturbed our sleep. Maybe a double glazing and tightly shut window could help to block the street noise.

Good location at corner of Dixon and Willis st. Short 8 min walk to Cuba st and 15mins to Te Papa, all down gentle rise. 5 mins to buses. Good security key card system. Comfy firm beds. Multi function tv. I was upgraded to executive floor and room with a spa bath as my original room had a noisy a/c. Reception/duty manager was most helpful and resolving the issue.

Rooms in need of a serious update, apparently overdue. Single pane glass windows brings in some street noise. Room was missing its microwave and alarm clock. Some functions of tv not working.
