The Murray, Hong Kong, a Niccolo Hotel

I liked the 24 hour gym and the room was superbly appointed. The view from the room was excellent.

I couldn't order room service. As my custom, I pay for every order whether in a restaurant or in-room dining. In other hotels the service staff brought a card reader with them when they delivered in-room dining items. At the Murray they wanted to talk about this a LOT, which made me feel that they did not know how to make the room service 'service' smooth for a loyal Discovery member...I did not order room service and we went out for breakfast.

Phenomenal hotel. Service and facilities, and breakfast, were perhaps the best I have stayed in. And we have visited a lot of 5 star hotels. Eric the concierge just wonderful. So helpful. Beatrice in club Lounge was so lovely and helpful also. Gym was superb.

Found it difficult to navigate the walkways around HK. Everything is via building lobbies and shopping malls. This was more on HK than the hotel.

The Murray is a fantastic hotel in the heart of HK Central area. It is beautifully appointed, great location, excellent service and large room by HK standards. Breakfast buffet was great - good selection of western and asian that was just right. Staff was excellent and always ready to assist.

The only complaint I would have is that the bed was not as comfortable as you would expect from a hotel like this. The mattress was hard so perhaps a good quality mattress topper is needed.

stunning decor and setting

Unfortunately brunch at Tai Pan was very poor value for money and not great service. No one informed us of setting / closing time, so we arrived at 1.15pm not knowing brunch ends at 2.30pm. Only ended up having main course at 2.20pm and only two drinks via Free Flow package. Despite several phone calls to book, plus greater at resto and staff on duty, no one thought to advise us of the closing time or bring main courses earlier. Children’s food was very basic and cold and no main course - incredibly poor value for money (rip off basically). Especially poor when places such as Hutong allow kids to eat for free… I would not go back.

We were in a very spacious room overlooking the Hong Kong park. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also right next to the peak tram station, and more local public transportation.

On the edge of Admiralty, a central business hub where things closed down during the weekend, so it can be a little further away from restaurants and other conveniences.

The hotel was very central and easy to access shops, restaurants and local transportation.

Food at the hotel was a little over priced but lots of local food places to go instead, very short walk.

We recently enjoyed a long weekend at The Murray and had a lovely time, were very well received upon arrival by professional reception and front desk staff while check-in was completed within 5 minutes. They can hold your luggage for early arrival or late departure needs. The location of The Murray is next to Hong Kong Park and just a few minutes walk to Central District. The MTR is around 7-8 minute walk from the property. The grounds of The Murray are quite nice. The lobby is elegant. There is a 2/F outdoor area where you'll find sculptures, Old and Valuable Cassia Javanica tree and the remarkable arches that form part of the remarkable architecture of The Murray. Our room at The Murray was predictably very nice, spacious and relaxing. Decor and furnishing was smart, simple and modern. The bed was soft and very comfortable, affording excellent rest and sleep. All amenities expected of five star properties were present or available. Had to request ironing board which was sent up to our room. Lighting, A/C, Wifi, fridge, espresso machine all worked as expected. Bathroom spacious, shower and water pressure perfect. The Murray has a pool, gym and Wellness Centre as well as a handful of bars and restaurants. We had breakfast at the Tai Pan that was very good. We also enjoyed our visit to The Murray Lane lobby bar and restaurant, great cocktails there. Similarly, we enjoyed the outstanding views at the Popinjays rooftop bar.

A few hiccups - the bathroom scale didn't work. Neither did the Apple TV screen mirroring. Housecleaning did a good job but didn't clean until after 5pm during our second day. These were small matters but a bit disappointing considering how well everything else went during our stay.

The Murray is Opulent and Classy. Our stay was an Exclusive Experience, and staff made us feel at home. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary and the Hotel went out of its way with complimentary balloons and delicious cake for our celebration. The rooms are very spacious with lots of amenities and qreat locations.

Great views from the room. Modern room with nice amenities (chargers, soundbar, automatic curtains, magic glass for bathroom - modern tech). Comfortable room with nice pillows and blanket. The tv was huge and it was nice that you could mirror your own device. The bathtub and heated toilet seat were excellent for the cold weather. The breakfast options were excellent.

The service was decent but a bit slow. The room was nice, but for the price, we've had better in Hong Kong. The tv mirroring was terrible and was pretty unreliable. No bath salts or bubbles were provided for the bathtub. Overall, good, but for a comparable price, the Upper House is much nicer.

Loved the decor and the fact that it looks fresh, modern and a younger vibe for a couple getaway. We have kids and stay at many hotels, but it was nice to get away from that with a younger vibe and a great rooftop hotel restaurant and bar - popinjays.

Dogs and cats are a surprising part of it. I have pets, which I love, but I don’t treat them like people or kids. Eating in the dining room was nice but watching other customers outside put silverware to their dog’s mouth, almost makes one lose their meal.. so that part, we could do without.
