Hotel Fürst Bismarck

Free transit pass during my stay was fantastic! Property was clean, great location across street from Hamburg Hbf. The weather was nice while I was there and once I closed windows I didn’t hear any street noise (just 2nd floor facing street), so I was surprised actually slept quite good both nights! Quick and easy bus connection to miniatur wunderland and hafen city area too. Able to take stairs to room was nice too - so many other hotels you have to wait for elevators.

The area is a little shady to the east of the hotel, but there’s no reason to go in that direction as most sights are to the south, west and north. Even so, I walked through there just to see what was happening and I didn’t feel unsafe. Just know that it’s sex work and drugs over there.

The hotel is right across the street from the main train station in Hamburg, so very conveniently located. Of course, there are a lot of places to eat within walking distance, and it's very easy to get around the city via the metro. (With my stay, I got two days of free metro use.) Check in was easy. The way to my room was a bit difficult to follow, but I only got turned around once. The room itself was large enough for a bed, a desk, a dresser, and an attached bathroom. The shower had hot water with great water pressure. The bed was comfortable. The TV stations were almost all in German, so I used the wifi to stream TV shows. The only drawback during my stay was that there were people yelling in the streets all the time, so I had to close my window, bu that's nothing to do with the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I'd return there again.

Lovely modern bathroom with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plush room. Complimentary still water, sewing kit, etc. Next door to restaurants. Close to Alster Wasser water feature & Planten un Blomen Gardens.

No air conditioning, but large windows partly open, top & bottom. A view of an unattractive apartment opposite, but Fürst Bismark is a lovely five storey building across from the train station, so an understandable historic setting & location. Noisy party goers on the street below until 4am on a weekend, but that's city life. If you're tired, you sleep over that.

Great location opposite the Central railway station, surprisingly quiet, given the movement around the area. Walking distance to major attractions, High street, Alster, etc. Very clean. Comfy bed and pillows. Cheerful staff during breakfast working hard to clean tables, replenish buffet, etc. Lots of TV channels. Got a free card for transportation in all Hamburg district (can even use it on your last day for departure to airport). Would definitely return.

The location is fabulous, just across the street from the Hamburg Hbf and the Wandelhalle food and shopping concourse. There is easy access to four U-Bahn lines and at least two S-Bahn lines. One of Hamburg's main shopping districts is a 10 minute walk away. This made staying here very time-efficient for a busy schedule of events and sightseeing. The hotel itself is a charming vintage building.

I didn't like the duvets on the beds. Too hot with them and too cold without them. This is a common problem with European hotels.

The hotel is strategically located. The room was cosy, not overly large. The bathroom was very clean. The breakfast is good, but -- as other customers have already pointed out -- perhaps slightly overpriced.

In warm summer nights, it would be nice to leave the windows open, but the central location naturally comes with some noise. The way to the lift is a bit of a challenge when carrying heavy luggage, but it is perhaps only normal that a lift built into an old (and beautiful) building cannot always be in the ideal place.

Friendly staff, very clean room, good facilities, and an excellent location. Everything is within easy reach e.g. City Centre, Dining, Shopping, Train & Bus Station. This is an older period building with period features, which I quite liked.

I like to stay out until the early morning hours (1am to 3am). The hotel is opposite the Main Train Station. Although the hotel is conveniently located, the early morning crowd ... need I say more? Otherwise, I had no issues.

Great location 50m from the Hamburg Centrale station. The nearby streets are a little seedy with groups of people just standing around. But, lots of good shops including chemists nearby. Metro is also handy for getting around. Great little Indian restaurant, Bad Sha, is just around the corner. Nice bars around too.

The room was comfortable. The location was good in that it was near the main train station and bus station. We especially liked the coffee and luggage storage rooms as we had a long wait for our ride out of the city. The staff was friendly.

The shower was a bit tight. The hotel was right across the street from the main train station and our room faced a narrow road with another building close by that amplified noise.

Great location, right across the road from the hauptbahnhof. This means it is really easy to get to all the main sights. Bus tours depart frequently right across the road Good restaurants very close nearby. I was also lucky to get a room with a bath. Reception good and available. Rooms cleaned daily.

There was no air con and it was really, really hot. Don't know how it would be in July or August! Couldn't open windows as in noisy district with bars open until 3am and clean up starting very early the next day. Unfortunately meant I slept very badly.
