Hôtel Le Boulevardier

The decor in the hotel was quirky and the retention of the old medieval features was lovely. The bathroom was well lit and the room had interesting decorations. Communication with the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful arranging a taxi to the airport when we were hit with a general strike. It is centrally located and close to wonderful bars and restaurants.

The reception/cafe area was not very warm and breakfast had to be pre-booked, as it was collected each morning from the local bakery. The stairs are very steep! The wifi on 2nd floor was not always available.

Fantastic location. Friendly efficient staff who speak excellent English. Check in process easy, excellent communication by email when we had questions. The room is small, but very comfortable with private bathroom and toilet. Perhaps the only thing lacking is in room air conditioning, but there was a powerful fan in the room and large windows to allow for ventilation. Great quirky bar downstairs, the owner gave us great recommendations for dinner. Good, basic breakfast with excellent coffee! Overall a great location and value for money.

The location is unbeatable. La rue Mercière is THE street for restaurants and it’s a stone’s throw from vieux Lyon and the cathedral St. Jean which has the still must-see though now-expired millennial clock. Just a quick bus ride to the train station as well.

This is an ancient building and therefore the stairs are steep. If you have mobility issues consider a lower floor or a more accessible place, but for those who want authentic downtown digs it’s marvelous.

The French breakfast was very good. The location is excellent, ideal for the new side of Lyon and less than 10 minutes walk to the old town.The owner is very friendly and helpful. All the old items on display throughout the hotel, including in the bedrooms, made for a very pleasant stay in this quirky old hotel.

We wished that there had been a lift, although I could see that, with a winding spiral staircase, this would not be possible

The building being very old, there was no lift. Our room was on the 2nd floor and my husband is quite lame. The room was compact but made great use of the space, with quirky decorations. We loved it. The host was charming and very helpful. breakfast was classic French - croissant and coffee with a bit more beside.

Perfect location close to shops, cafes, restaurants, sightseeing spots, and a parking lot. Pretty good sound-proofing windows. Fun decoration. No fuss quick check-in check-out. Clear communication.

Would be happy to come back after a touch up in the bathroom (missing tiles, loose ventilation grille, shower and wash basin drained slowly) in room 8. Hotel with great potential.

nice good value hotel on a great location right in the heart of lyon and the street noise is well shut out cool funky decor throughout is a nice touch let us put our bags in the room before the room was ready was really handy.

A hotel with real character in a wonderful location just a short walk from the Musee des Beaux Arts. A delicious breakfast.

None of the keys left out for guests arriving in the evening had my name on, so it was little confusing working out which room was mine! Not a big deal though.

One needs to know that there is no fridge and no aircon but there is a fan.

funky little place with lots of memorbilia. It was fun and unusual

There were all circular staircases to drag yourself snd your luggage up and down. Thid is not a place for those who have any mobility issues at all.
