Sandman Hotel Penticton

Our pandemic staycation was meant to "substitute" for our annual escape to the tropics, primarily thanks to the enclosed pool atrium area at this property. We were delighted with the pool and hot tub area and green tropical foilage, especially the warm pool water and the toasty hot tub with good jets. Covid protocols were in place limiting occupancy so a little shuffling was required, but due to very low vacancy we enjoyed this area by ourselves nearly all the time we wanted. Amazing! Yes, the room was great too; very comfortable bed, great shower, kitchenette, nice big windows, and good heating :-) VERY pet-friendly property including a biscuit from front-desk staff. The attached bar and Denny's restaurant were also very much appreciated with great service and good food.

There was an issue with the booked room, which featured a kitchen island with seating (according to the room photo on booking.com.) We had to wait three nights for that specific room type to open up, and then had to change rooms to enjoy our remaining five nights in the room we booked. Because there were so few guests and a lot of lounging about, some noises stood out to us more, i.e. slamming doors (rooms, stairwells, pool area.) Strangely, there is a maintenance room off the pool atrium area and that door was used a lot as maintenance staff came and went all day every day. Seems to me that maintenance door could be relocated to the external hallway to improve the serenity of the pool atrium area.

Staff accommodated special needs at time of booking on line and by return email for adjusted check-in time and pet stay. Extra blankets, pillows and shower robes available. Also close to Denny's for food at any hour.

Special needs bathroom in room 102 was awkward for non special needs patrons. EG. door swing, shower design and toilet seat.

Functional and great location, exactly what we needed for one night with the dog. Some decor a little dated but rooms are very clean, the hotel is being renovated and didn't affect our stay. The value and price was reflected accurately, glad we didn't opt to pay $100 more for another hotel nearby. Good sized room with comfy beds, mini fridge & most importantly, AC!

Proximity to beach. Attentive friendly staff.

Loud rumbling noises coming from the parking lot due to trucks being allowed to idol their trucks there all day and all night. Our room faced the parking lot which would have been ok without the truck engine noise pollution.

The hotel was close to venue we were going to. Staff was nice. Room was ready early for us

The price. I know that is everywhere right now. Bhf hurts to drop 300$ on a bed to rest my head. Also would have been nice to use pool.

Nice to have Denny’s and Bar One inside, and great location near Salty’s, Okanagan Lake, and downtown. We stayed in the Studio unit and it was perfect for our stay. We loved having a full kitchen at our disposal, everything worked great and was very clean as well. Internet was surprisingly fast! We were able to set up our Xbox to watch Netflix and everything loaded very quickly, unlike two of the other hotels in penticton we stayed at last month. We did not use the pool area but would definitely try out the hot tub if it’s open next time around.

No room service from Denny’s currently even though I did call to ask about that and was told it was still offered, however, you can access it from the hotel without going outside so that was a plus. The tub was not draining at first but we called the front desk and they brought up some draino that fixed the issue quickly. Water pressure was not great in the shower.

The staff was very friendly. We had issues with our dog but the staff was willing to look after him while we went out to enjoy our trip

The pool wasn't working

Very comfortable bed, very nice room! , adequate kitchenette.

Too noisy next to car dealership, Garbage truck slamming steel bins, airplanes flying over, Loud vehicular traffic, - very heavy and hot comforter, wife sweating bullets - pullout sofa, was too u comfortable, had to use pillows from bed to soften - very small bathroom!
