Continental Hotel Lausanne

I stayed there for 3 nights. Small room but had everything you need with modern standards. The bed was comfortable and the shower was really good. My room faced away from the street and was very quiet. Everything was clean and the staff was lovely. The location was my favourite part, just across the street from the train station and the metro was just a few steps away. I loved that the hotel gives you free access to the metro and busses. Cafés and restaurants in walking distance. Would stay there again!

The only thing I can really complain about was the TV. Since almost all available tv stations had dubbed french it would have been a nice touch to have a tv you could cast Netflix or other programs from your phone.

The hotel is just across the road from the main train but our room was quiet. It is also a minute walk from the metro and some restaurants. The room was spacious with nice towels and linen. It had a small fridge and a coffee machine that had tea bags as well. The staff were friendly and the price was very reasonable for Switzerland.

The room had a bit of wear and tear and the curtains were not full block out so the room was brighter than I prefer. The hotel is a steep walk away from the old town but with the metro so close and free public transport, this wasn’t an issue.

The location opposite the main station is what made me choose this hotel to stay at many years ago. Now, having stayed here at least a dozen times whenever I am in town for work, the hotel certainly doesn't disappoint. The rooms have been refreshed and modernized tastefully and sensibly, with useful touches such as USB points by the bedside and at the desk to charge your stuff. Just bring your cable. Breakfast is good, and in a nice brightly lit cafe overlooking the main station. Staff are great!

The pillows are a little too soft and flat for comfort. My colleagues who were with me also commented on the same thing. My single room did not have a desk light. For those on work trips, this would have been useful as the part of the room with the desk was a little dark at night.

I had the breakfast buffet both days and it was very nice with many choices. The room was small but highly functional and the lighting good despite being on the mountain side. No view to speak of but it wasn't anything I requested.

I realize hotels have few options when I comes to early-checkins. I arrived to the property after a train ride from the airport after and overnight overseas flight. It was only 9:00 am or so.

The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. I loved that they gave us maps and free public transport cards, since it's essential to travel within the city. The pillows were soft, but we called reception and they brought more to the room. The bathroom was really spacious and the shower was amazing. Even though we were next to the street, the windows are thick and we didn't hear noise (proof of this is that there is a construction nearby and we couldn't hear a thing). Also, you have restaurants close by and it's near the metro and train station.

The parking was really far away (specially if you have bags to carry). They give a permit to park on the street while you're doing check in, and that helped, but it's not near and you have to walk.

Very clean, towels were changed everyday, room cleaned everyday. Staff was very friendly, speaking multiple languages and willing to help. Wonderful view if you get a supperior floor facing the train station.

The breakfast was the same during all 5 days with quite few options. Still the quality of the food was good but for a stay longer than 2-3 days it might become a routine. I received a room communicating with another one via a door always closed resulting in hearing every noise from the other room.

This hotel ticks all the good boxes, such as a wide comfortable room with a classic furniture. The toilet and the bathroom are separate. The breakfast was good but not perfect. The staff are very nice and welcoming, especially Manon (I hope it's the correct name) of the lady who checked us in. The balcony was a huge advantage, and the natural light was just perfect in our room.

The elevator was very old, it shakes a lot and it's very tight (2 persons at most), other people and us were struggling to make it work.

The location is perfect and it was very quiet. The room and the bed are spacious. The Aircon in our room is very new, an inverter. Europe is getting hotter every year so a good Aircon is very important. We have a big balcony so if we want fresh air, we can open the door.

There is no electric kettle and we need to use the coffee machine to boil water, very inconvenient.

The location is super convenient: opposite the train station. The don't have their own car park but offer a 50% discount for parking up the road. Staff was super friendly and efficient, the single room cozy and as an absolute bonus, has tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. You would imagine it being very noisy but my room was out back and quiet. All in all, this is such a find and very, very good value for money. I would definitely book here again.

I am splitting hairs here: I don't like carpets in rooms. Just a hygiene thing, but it was spotless. A weird comment but the toilet seat was very uncomfortable. And last but not least, my tea / coffee didn't get replenished on day 2. But really, no biggie. As I said, I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is situated next to railway station, and the connection to Geneva airport was smooth. My room was comfy and quiet, not too small, on the garden side of the hotel. Wifi worked well. Connection to UNIL was fast and easy. It was easy to visit the city center from here.

I think the hotel was affordable for a Swiss hotel, but prizes are still quite high for EU citizen. The other elevator was not working well at the time.
