New World Makati Hotel, Manila

Staying at the executive floor. Unfortunately the Lounge is still closed for breakfast. The good thing is that the Lounge has re-opened for high tea, cocktails and snacks at 5:00pm. Great ambiance and great service in which especially Mr. Wilson is stealing the show.

Although mangos are in season, there weren’t any around for breakfast. Also the small glas jars with various jams have been removed as part of the cost-cutting program. The room itself is severely lacking closet and drawer space. One drawer for 2 guests staying 18 days is something that is not funny. Other than that, the New World Makati is a good place to stay. No complaints!

This time my room and bathroom were very clean. Staff was great. Food was excellent in the restaurants.

Trying to hook my laptop to TV was a mess. The HDMI connections on the desk did not work, and finding the correct connection to the TV took a bit. Room looked very good, but it was too good. I did not find my water heater/coffee supplies until the third day of my stay. Housekeeping showed me the location. The amenities were hidden in the facade next to the refrigerator and blended in too well with the wall to be easily noticed. Not a bad mark, I just found it funny. Business center closed early on the day I needed it. Concierge did help me out though.

I very much enjoyed my stay here for 3 nights with my girlfriend. We brought our 2 puppy dogs (shih-tzu's) with us, and they provided a doggo bed, bowl, and dog-toy, 2 of each, 1 for each of our dogs. Very nice, the room attendants were extremely nice and professional as well. The food is a little bit pricey, but it is decent. Our bartender, Antoni, is an amazing bartender / mixologist. I ordered several specialty cocktails and he made each one with precision, he has experience and it shows. Overall it was great time., It was my 2nd time there, and I'd definitely return. It's the only place I'll stay when I visit Makati.

The check-in process was a bit lengthy, I'd like to have had that process done a bit quicker, but I was re-assured of the on-going process by the floor manager, that came out as I was checking in.

It’s our second time staying in this hotel and we still loved it. The attention to detail that they have shown to us the minute we arrived is highly appreciated. The room is clean, the breakfast buffet is amazing, all sorts of breakfasts are available. The location is perfect, next to shopping areas & Cafe’s (Greenbelt). We also loved there room services. The way they present your food is with utmost care and class. On our last day, we have to leave early to catch our flight, and they prepared us breakfast to take to the airport, which is individually wrapped.

The hotel is great! The rooms could use some renovation and modernization but that pales next to the incredible customer service at all levels. The staff are so courteous, friendly and professional, no matter where I encountered them. Anyone who has been to the Philippines knows this is a characteristic of the country, but the staff at New World are exceptional compared even to that high benchmark. The breakfast was plentiful and the facilities are excellent with a gorgeous pool (was sparse most of my stay due to the heat and humidity or the frequent rain...normal for Manila in June/July so I wasn't surprised or disappointed), and a spacious well equipped gym. Special mention to the Living Room lounge on the 24th Floor. The quality, taste and diversity of the spread of food every evening is worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. Whatever the hotel is paying the chef/s, it isn't enough :-)

As noted, the rooms need some upgrading. I stayed in two rooms (moved from my first room due to frequent construction noise) and both had stained carpets, drawers and cabinets with broken hinges and visible signs of wear and tear throughout the room. My rooms were on one of the executive-level floors so if it was this noticeable there I can imagine how it is on the other floors. This has no reflection on the cleanliness of the room and excellence of the housekeeping staff, but for a 5 star hotel this stood out to me.

The location of this hotel is 10/10! You are across the road from the greenbelt shopping mall, 2 minutes from a 7/11 and 20 mins from the international airport. The hotel itself exceeded my expectations - the staff were amazing, the facilities were modern and clean, they had a pianist and a live singer late into the evening (Monday night). For those who are smokers, there is also an outdoor, undercover lounge area that overlooks a koi pond and garden.

The Staff are all friendly and helpful. I chose the place because it’s in front of Greenbelt and other neighbouring establishments. Not to mention it’s near the airport, accessible for us to be on time for our flight.

The first room given to us in 1016 I believe had moulds on both walls and also found a small cockroach roaming around. We don’t want to make so much fuss after our long travel from London but at the same time, we don’t want to inhale the mouldy smell whilst asleep, it’s just unacceptable. My husband reported this in the front office and was actioned by the Manager on duty Joanne with her two staff swiftly and we were given a better room up in the 22nd floor. I hope bit won’t happen to other people next time. We paid for the price, we deserve to get a better accommodation too. Fair and Simple. Other than the first night experience, the rest were outstanding.

The light switch were not user friendly. It is not within the comfortable reach and you have to know the combination or what not to turn on and off the lights. There is not enough electrical outlet within your reach to connect your phone charger close to your bed which makes you stand-up to check your call whenever you are in bed. The AC can not be regulated on the first two nights of my stay. Terrible feeling not being able to sleep well due to the freezing cold temperature.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best hotel experience I’ve had so far. Check-in was very smooth even though we arrived early. They even upgraded our room. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. I never expected them to send some cookies and chocolates and a letter up to our room. It was such a sweet gesture and we really appreciated it. The bed is super soft and comfy. Breakfast was great, especially the pastries! Also, if you plan on shopping, you can never go wrong with booking New World Makati since it’s only a few steps away from the mall. I’ll definitely keep coming back here.
