Central Hotel Panama Casco Viejo

The hotel is beautiful. Our room provided a beautiful view of the plaza and cathedral. The room was clean - the hardwood floors were really nice. Bed was more comfortable than my one at home. The AC was perfect and low humidity in the room. Location in Casco Viejo cannot be beat. I have been traveling to Panama for over 30 years and have stayed at many other hotels in the financial district. This was BY FAR my best trip.

There was no way to turn on the bathroom light without additional lighting coming on in my room. I had to use my flashlight to use the bathroom at night without disturbing everyone else. There was no way to hang up wet bathing suits to dry. Some historic information on the hotel at check in would have been nice. In English and in Spanish.

We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend! Firstly, the location is amazing- it is directly across from the cathedral and one of Casco Viejo's quaint sqaures. It is also central to most of the areas great bars and restaurants. The hotel itself has a lot of history and has been beautifully restored. The staircase and architecture are gorgeous. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Plus the rooftop pool has great views of Casco Viejo and the city!

The original room we stayed in was a little tight and faced inwards so you could hear whatever was happening in the central part of the hotel. However, the front desk was super helpful and allowed us to move into a more open room with more privacy. The pool does face a dilapidated building, but that is part of the charm of Casco Viejo!

The location is great and the building is beautiful, they have done a beautiful restoration work. Unfortunately most of the complaints from previous guests were true. The biggest issue was the shower. It doesn’t have a glass panel and there was no way to prevent the water from spilling. It also felt unsafe since it was a high tub with no glass panels and no safety handles. For the price and the kind of hotel they are supposed to be this should have been solved already. During our last night there was constant noise of vacuum cleaning and furniture moving. The staff was nice but they didn’t seem very knowledgeable about what was going on in the hotel. I would blame the management for this. Also, we actually chose the hotel because it has a pool but being so small they should have had some sort of reservation system, we never got to use it because it was packed.

Location in great! Right on a middle of old town! The spirit of the hotel is undesirable. Built over 100 years ago. Life music at the evening will take you back to old times. elegant and classic

layout is weird. inside rooms are facing the bar and breakfast area. And it gets pretty noisy especially at breakfast. So if you want to sleep in - no chance. Now about breakfast: it is not that great. Period. Small pool area. you would not want to spend time there.

The hotel is very nice and well located if you want to spend some days in the city’s old quarters. The personnel was attentive and friendly. Nice, small rooftop pool as well.

Due to its location, some rooms can tend to be noisy for a good night sleep. Requested to be relocated due to this situation and was assigned a room that was half the size of the first one. Still the recepción claimed it was the same room type I had booked although I’m not sure how could that be possible (no balcony, no view, half size, smaller bed). Reception also claimed the hotel was full (clearly not the case as the pool and breakfast were far from busy).

Every person I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and kind. The location couldn’t be more perfect - in the middle of everything. My bed was so comfortable and a welcome reprieve after a long day of travel.

The shower is half open - no door to enclose the shower. I’ve noticed this in many hotels lately, not sure if it’s a new aesthetic or cost saving measure, but it is a little annoying. No matter how careful I try to be, water gets everywhere and the bath mat is soaked. It’s not the end of the world, just wish it was set up better to not get water everywhere. Of course, housekeeping does take care of the water when cleaning daily.

It’s a beautiful building with relaxing rooms. The guitar and piano players were a great touch. We really enjoyed listening. Breakfast was included in our booking and very good. The location is perfect. The pool is small but we never had a problem finding room.

The showers are lovely but a poor design. Both my aunt and my mom were worried every day they might slip in the water that splashed on the floor. My aunt said the water was like a stream on the floor in her bathroom. We didn’t have that issue in our room but it was a real concern in theirs.

The hotel's history, vibe and decoration. It is a charming building with a lot of history that has been restored, you feel like you're time travelling and you are in one of the best spots in the city, the pool while small is a great spot, there is almost always someone playing the piano in the hall, the hotel provides a non-alcoholic welcome drink and even newspapers from 1940 to add to the retro theme.

Well, The listing on booking said that the room had a bathtub, It didn't, but the room was ok, spacious and comfy, although furniture and doors showed signs of aging, also the room has a view to the inside atrium through a window right in front of your bed which if you don't tightly close your curtains can compromise privacy.

Lovely colonial style building in a fantastic location for exploring the old town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Taxi service available at the front desk. Clean and comfortable room; comfortable bed. Breakfast was fairly good - buffet style, lots available. Small rooftop pool with nice view. Restaurant food was ok but only ate there one. Lots on offer nearby. Overall a good value and comfortable place to stay for a few days.

Room looked out into inner courtyard, overlooked by restaurant and could be noisy if trying to get an early night. But not all rooms are like this.

Overall this is a solid choice. The room is very clean and the hotel is well kept. Service is top notch and staff also does speak English. There is valet parking in a secure area which is a big plus in this area as parking can be challenging. It’s a convenient location with lots of restaurants nearby. And our room had a nice view of the plaza and church. Water pressure in the shower was great and the air conditioning and WiFi worked well.

We booked the entry level room and it is small. The bathroom is very small but that is also very common in Panama. Breakfast was mediocre. There was a very good selection of fruits, meats and cheeses but the hot food was so-so. Next time I’d go to the nearby Cafe Unido for breakfast.
