Mercure Chartres Cathedrale

The Mercure is extremely well sited in Chartres, within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions, which are many. Breakfast is excellent, and staff always friendly and helpful. There is a pleasant outside table by the bar and the hotel offers free snacks such as fruit.

We have stayed at this hotel before, and this time our room, for which we paid the same price, was smaller and not so well sited to connect with our disabled daughter's room. There was a heatwave while we were there, and our bedroom window could not be opened, though the air conditioning was working, thank goodness.

You can see the cathedral’s spires when standing just outside the Hotel’s lobby, if you frown and believe in it hard enough. As we were about to walk into Chartre’s drizzle to be blown away by imaginative projection of lights on Chartres’ cathedral, the receptionist handed us two umbrellas. We had already noticed her warmth and became grateful for her attention to details. For food, Novotel does Novotel and that’s fine. But, step out, turn left and you’ll find a gem of a Japanese restaurant. For Breakfast, we sat in a boulangerie 15 min walk away, it had a world record Madeleine on display (size of a small pet).

Nothing. i was prepared to dislike the underground car park nearby but it was the cleanest I had ever seen.

everything was great, the room was very spacy, quiet (no noise from the corridor nor from the neighboors or street) and clean. Big shower! The place for breakfast was cosy with a lot of choice for food. Welcoming staff!

The website mentionned "parking" suggesting that there is a private parking, but it is not: there is a public parking even if it is close to the hotel, it was a bad surprise because not for free and not so easy than expected. Found a used toothpick under the bed, that was a bit disgusting. Some equipments were unplugged like the phone (weird) but was easily fixed.

Great location, near the heart of Chartres. Three minutes walk from the Cathedral. Check in staff were amazing - all very helpful! The room is very clean, functional and a reasonable size. Breakfast was standard hotel fare - all fresh, plentiful (and great coffee!) Hotel offers discount parking at nearby carpark (even though it's a little complicated to sort out the pre-booking process and carpark ticketing system (the carpark attendants were very helpful!) Parking out the front of the hotel to drop off/collect bags is an added bonus!

Rooms were fine, large enough, comfortable. The location is great, an easy walk to the cathedral and old town. Value is spot on. If you drive, there is a convenient space in front of the hotel where you can unload your vehicle and check in. After you check in, best to park in the Coeur de Ville parking lot nearest the hotel, better still to reserve your spot online.

Not much. Everything was pretty great, except things the hotel can't control, like traffic and narrow streets, that's the nature of the place.

Arrived late evening on our way to the South of France. Hotel was well situated to see the sights of the city. Rooms were as expected, clean and comfy. Women who chatting with the man on reception was very helpful to direct us to the kebab shop which was one of the only places open when we realised the hotel had no room service. Great breakfast, with plenty of choice.

Couldn't find a restaurant open when we arrived ~9.30pm, had a walk around the city and then tried to order room service when we got back to the hotel around 11pm. Spent 20mins trying to get through to room service on the phone, no answer. Went to reception to find they only had beverages no food (despite having food on the menu) so we ended up at a kebab shop.

Having been knocked off my bicycle by a local farmer and infirmed in local Chartres hospital I was extremely lucky!! The hotel staff went out of their way to be amazing and help me negotiate a stressful difficult and unusual situation!! They were amazing & helped me complete insurance forms and get things moving again so that I could get back to Paris and then eventually Home to UK!! I am forever grateful!!! I could not have coped without their help given my limited French! Thank you ladies at the Front Desk. Merci beaucoup! Au revoir! Xx

More milk / tea / coffee options and proper ceramic cups in room instead of environmentally unfriendly paper cups!

when I wake up in the morning, I can see the beautiful cathedral from my bed! It was one of the best mornings of my life!!! (You should request a room with a view of the cathedral whenever possible) I had an issue with our room on arrival but the staff quickly and enthusiastically resolved the issue. especially the reception staff are always friendly, helpful and wonderful. the room facilities are perfect. I wanna live here XD

The staff were very friendly. One member of staff went out of her way to help us when we couldn't get to a restaurant one night. The hotel is located a pleasant walk few minutes walk from the cathedral.

The WiFi connection was inconsistent so frustrating. That was surprising for a 4* hotel.

Location is great, staff were great. Free pastries after breakfast is a nice touch and the room air con worked well. Nice large shower too.

Hotel doesn't have any parking arrangements and they direct you to the nearest underground car park which costs something like 20 euros a day. That's pricey when you stay for 2 nights. They should strike a deal for guests.
