Logis L'Orée de Chartres - Barjouville

Public areas overall clean and modern; Restaurant immaculate and inviting. Staff very pleasant and welcoming, and Restaurant staff, in particular, first class and attentive. Whilst evening menu is limited, it’s delicious and fresh. It’s a great stopover both heading South, but better especially heading North, as you can comfortably drive the few hours to the Tunnel, or the Ferry, and no rush .. why would you, in any event (either way!). Very large, and modern, Le Clerc (with petrol station and decent fuel prices) 100 metres away!

Rooms now looking tired in parts .. especially the bathrooms!

Our room was lovely and a good size. A spacious bathroom which was spotlessly clean and had lovely toiletries supplied. The air con was very satisfactory as well. The bed was big and very comfortable indeed. Fluffy pillows with extra provided as well as extra blankets, if needed. Plenty of room to store luggage and clothing and there was no noise at all from the traffic outside. We liked the breakfast, which was a typical continental breakfast, with a good selection to choose from. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. There were plenty of parking spaces and the hotel is situated right in the middle of a big shopping estate with lots of restaurants to choose from, if you don't want to go too far for lunch or dinner or if you can't book a table at a restaurant in centre ville, which is very popular and very busy. We would definitely book this hotel again.

A tea and coffee machine in the room would have been nice. The free wi-fi was a bit hit and miss.

Well located hotel with plenty of free parking. Room (superior?) was a good size and well furnished. Despite the hotel restaurant being closed, there are plenty of eating options nearby. staff were friendly and helpful.

Room decor was a bit tired, bed was a double not king size despite being a superior, and it could have been a bit cleaner in places. Breakfast was oddly cramped despite being in a big room.

We took an extra large room with coffee maker and felt we should not have bothered for the extra cost. Room was very large but felt impersonal. The coffee machine had only two pods and l did ask for more. Shower was very good and bed comfortable. A bit difficult to find in the dark as logis sign tiny on a wall outside. Lots of hotels and eating places in the square so great for an overnight stop on the way to your final destination. One way system took longer to find it. Good overnight stay and receptionist very helpful with wifi problem etc. One note to watch out for was wifi reception, we could only get one ipad signed in at any one time, could have been our position on-the ground floor but was a pain. Dog was happy with being on ground floor and our car was parked just outside our window. Free parking a bonus but People were parking just to eat in restaurants this could be a problem during Summer months.

We have stayed here several times as it is so close to the ring road and thus convenient as a stopping place en route to the channel crossing. We have always found the staff helpful and the facilities and restaurant good. We always enjoy our evening meal and set off, either north or south, the next morning well refreshed.

Some of the rooms are a little small

The Restaurant Francis (part of the hotel) was exceptional!! Don’t be fooled by the commercial setting. Oh my goodness the meal we ate was the best ever. Simple, delicious and traditionally French cuisine. Amazing. The waiters were also really lovely and helped with our poor French. Highly highly recommend the restaurant.

Room faced out onto the outdoor seating area of the restaurant and hotel car park. Was a little bright and loud but died down about 11pm.

Service was great from start to finish, we were recommended the right type of room for our needs when we called. It was perfect for a one night stay. The family room was large enough for the size of our family, it had a full bed and a sofa bed and we requested a roll-away bed that was setup before we arrived. This was greatly appreciated since we arrived late in the night we could put the children to sleep right away.

The bathroom was clean and fully functional although paint and joins could use an update to refresh its look. The room was a little dark and had a small window but we stayed for such a short time that it was not really an issue, just to be considered in case of longer stays or day use of the room.

The usual friendly and helpful staff

There was nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom of room 409, which was a nuisance. We have not had this problem when we have stayed on other occasions in other rooms. It would be easy to fit a rail or rails underneath the work surface alongside the basin, and would cost very little.

We wanted a pet friendly hotel for overnight stay on our way to Eurotunnel Calais the following day. This hotel provided this in a relatively quiet location near the Chatres ring road - we would not have time to visit the city itself. We were able to exercise our dog although we'd have liked to have found a larger grassed or wooded area nearby, but what we found was adequate.

We really like this place. It had its problems, the first room we were allotted could not be accesed... Faulty lock. But they cheerfully found us another and made sure it was accessible by lift. Then the tv remote control could turn on but not off. Again, they patiently solved the problem. Service with a smile. The restaurant staff were great as usual. We enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was very good. Parking was fine. We loved the comfy sofa. Good, powerful shower.

As usual, the roads to Chartres from Dreux were jammed with traffic. No fun. But not much the hotel could do about that.
