Hotel Villa Colonial

The staff was amazing, the price was great and the location is perfect. It’s one street away from the main street of Getsemani where everything happens but somehow stays quiet if you don’t want to participate. The room was clean, great AC, we had daily breakfast between 7-9 and the facility is very secure. Random people can’t just come in. It’s also about8-9 mins away from the wall so all activities start there. There is no pool but ask reception and you may have access to one in the area. All in all, we had a great week there and I definitely recommend it.

Ms Martha and her staff were absolutely fantastic, friendly and helpful at all times. The location is very good, in Getsemaní on a quiet street but very close to the main restaruant and bar area. Being on a quieter street made sleeping easier. There is good AC and fan in the room so again it was comfortable to sleep. Everything was spotlessly clean and towels changed every day.

Marta, Gustavo, Alberto and all the staff were professional, friendly, cooperative, and efficient...the room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and the Getsemani location was perfect for access to restaurants, supermarkets, and retail stores...we highly recommend Villa Colonial as the best value for money and service...

Not a thing

Very pleasant staff and very good check in but Martha. Our room was quiet and a good size. The hotel was on a quiet street and very close to many restaurants and cafes. Breakfast served on top terrace was a good size. A variety for breakfast fresh fruit and juice.

The building is very beautiful with a great rooftop terrace. The view is not spectacular, but it's still nice. The rooms are clean, and the air conditioning was very pleasant. The lady of the house and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful! For breakfast, there were fruits, eggs, toast, and cereal – we were very satisfied with it.

After splurging on boutique properties, I booked the Villa Colonial to stay somewhere more economical; my stay there was equally enjoyable. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable and it had everything I needed. Nice atmosphere, pretty property and the location was great - close to bars, restaurants and clubs, but very quiet. More than anything, the staff was wonderful - friendly, cheerful, helpful. I needed a Covid test to travel to the States and they arranged for a nurse to come and printed out the results.

Wifi didn’t work in the room, but was just fine in the lobby.

The staff at this hotel were a highlight, very friendly and helpful in all respects. The room was large and comfortable, everything clean, and the internet worked fine.

The bathroom in my room had a raised floor so I whacked my head against the door multiple times during the stay. The location is a bit tedious. Just north is a massively touristy oldtown and even the area around the hotel feels more aimed at wealthy tourists than budget travelers. There is a decent supermarket nearby and you can get cheap coffee, fruit and pastries on the street, but it's a long walk from the markets and more down-to-earth restaurants.

I stayed 3 nights here and had a comfortable stay. The location is mere minutes away from busy areas/attractions but was still very quiet. My room was simple and small but everything, WiFi, AC, worked as needed and the bed was comfortable. There’s a small outdoor area overseeing the street in front of the hotel and also a rooftop. The woman who checked me in was polite and friendly. I enjoyed my stay here.

The power went out at times but came back shortly after.

I stayed 6 weeks in Cartagena in 9 different hotels. Overall this place was the best value. Getsemani is a lively, colourful touristic area of old Spanish buildings about 10 minutes walk from the main tourist area. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and the big Exito supermarket is 10 minutes walk. There's a Juan Valdez cafe round the corner and a Tostao bakery and laundry 10 minutes walk away. The hotel has beautiful old style tiled floors and cute internal balconies on every floor. I had to change hotel a few times because this hotel was sold out. Most of the guests are 20 and 30 somethings (friends and couples rather than families) as Getsemani tends to attract a younger savier crowd.

If you are a single man dating multiple women, this is not a place for you. You can only bring one person there.
