Great location if you want to cover 6th street on foot. With that said, the whole town has scooters everywhere, so do not be shy to expand your range as you can cover several blocks with the scooters if you are in the mood for a more modern feel as far as stay is concerned.
Room service does not include the making of your bed. The elevators are slow. The property for its age is really well maintained and all is well in that regard, but all that age an history also comes with a older "smell" if that make sense.

The room had everything I wanted. It was quite, cool and had a cough in addition to a King sized bed. Small fridge and a bath/shower. It was clean and comfortable. Was a great way to finish a trip to Texas and was in a great location. would recommend the hotel. The hotel has a lot of history and so often this equates to dusty and worn out but definitely not the case with the Driskill.
Parking when returning in the evening. The valet service is on a one way street that you have to go the wrong way when 6th street is closed at night. Circled the district a lot until gave up to head the wrong way down a one way street. THe valet team however were fabulous.

Everything was amazing, a true five star historic hotel. The service at the front counter was exceptional as was all the others. The bar was beautiful and had great drinks and food. The cafe had good food and coffee. For the price I felt the room was very small but that may be due to the age of the hotel. Very expensive to park a car here at about $60 a night, but the valets were great.

What an experience! We did not know this when we booked the hotel, but this is one of the most haunted hotels in the country! Also, it hold such historical importance, with many celebrities and politicians staying there. LBJ and Ladybird had their first date at the bar of this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, chic and fancy, and the location is great.
The parking prices were high. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but maybe should be emphasised somewhere, so that out of towners like us would plave our car rental plan accordingly.

I splurged and upgraded to an historic king room and that was very worthwhile as I received a quiet comfortable room with a view that had easy accessibility to both Brazos and Sixth. The Driskill is in the liveliest nightclub area of town so I am not sure how quiet it would have been on a weekend. This hotel is in a great location for seeing everything in downtown Austin. I ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant which serves a delicious brunch every day until 2 pm.

Breakfast was great but overpriced. Location fine except for the fact there is a serious homeless problem in Austin. I know that's not the hotels fault but it dampened the experience.
Tell local government to help the homeless and clean up downtown. A concierge desk would be nice instead of having to wait with people checking in or out .

The pillows were all the same kind of down filling, difficult to get good head support. The bed covers were also too warm for summer.

Loved my room - bed was very comfortable and the temperature controls were super easy to use; bathroom was so pretty and just in general loved the room. It was very quiet couldn’t really hear noise outside much at all! The decor in the hotel is just beautiful - it’s also quite cozy if I do say so myself. We loved getting drinks at the bar one evening - the vibe is warm and dark which is something I enjoy. I believe they also have bar food but may also offer full meal options if you prefer to dine in. We also LOVED breakfast at the cafe the next morning. So needless to say your meal options on the property are excellent! They’re a little more on the expensive side but that’s to be expected. Also, loved my room upgrade at check in and was very happy with the new amentities there (queen petite room to a king with a tv haha). I also had an issue/question with my bill and the desk clerk explained everything perfectly when I asked. Customer service was excellent, amenities were wonderful and I will definitely be back!!! Location is great for going pretty much anywhere in downtown - we tend to walk most places and did not have a problem doing so. (I’m sure the suite rooms are amazing and totally worth it as well!)
Maybe the one thing I didn’t like so much were panhandlers in the area around the hotel - there were a few times at night I didn’t feel very safe but this isn’t a reflection on the hotel. I understand that times are difficult right now and many people are homeless/out of work. I don’t have a solution for this but I believe the city is working hard to provide people with the resources they need. This is just something to be aware of if you’re out and about at night or a caution to be careful going out at night. Also, parking is a bit expensive so we chose to park elsewhere but there are plenty of options around the block if you’re looking to save a little on this!
