Dragon City

We brought our own food but were pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was coffee, tea, snacks, oatmeal, and bottled water/ drink flavoring tubes, on the tray in the room. We love the clean look. The Grey theme with splashes of color is so relaxing. This place is a really nice blend of simplicity, form, and function. We visited in the off season, so the surrounding businesses were closed but the fact that very soon there will be a restaurant, small store, gas pumps, and snack bar, just steps away, is exciting! Plus a fire pit, cute little creek, and a foot path that you can explore, and just a few miles off of the Dragon so we can sit on the porch and watch cool cars go by... we. will be back soon!

The only "complaint" we might have is that the shower is dark and could use some overhead lighting. It's not terrible but since the shower is a stall and has no glass doors, it's a bit dark in there.

The snacks were so welcome after a long day's ride. The room was large, very clean, and comfortable. The host made sure I understood how everything worked and made himself available for any additional things I needed. The location is on 129 about 9 miles from the beginning of the Dragon. It was nice because it gave the bike and me a chance to warm up early on the day I rode it.

To be honest, and this might just be me - the fresh gravel in the parking lot was difficult for me to negotiate. I pulled in and found myself facing downhill. My bike is top heavy and hard to move in the best of circumstances, but I managed to get it turned around without dropping up. The host offered to help if I needed it, but thankfully I was okay.

The decorating style is cool, giving the space character. Super clean. The kitchen area made preparing breakfast and packing lunch easy. The refrigerator is a good size to hold plenty of food, and beverages and it has a real freezer. The satellite TV offered many appealing options. The beds are very comfortable memory foam type. The room is great, period. The fact that is costs a reasonable amount is just a bonus.

The bathroom needs more shelf space for toiletries for 2 people. The round table, with 2 chairs, is far too small for two people to eat at the same time. The storage lockers are a cool style touch, but they need to be twice as tall. Additional lighting is needed above the couch and above to round table for eating.

All of the amenities in the room were exceptional. We just weren't staying "in the room" to take advantage of them. In other words, up in the morning, kick-stands up, ride all day and crash when we get it in. We didn't pack food to cook in the kitchenette, but knowing what it's like, we likely will should we return here in the future.

Breakfast was rather questionable. The Dragon Pit advertised breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but they only staffed the restaurant from around 11-6PM. For folks that wanted to be on the road before this, 2 packets of oatmeal and a couple pouches of kid's cereal in the room didn't really cut it. We ended up checking out a convenience mart about 3 miles up 129---not much better. If a restaurant is going to advertise 3 meals a day, then I would generally expect they'll be open during the typical hours that folks eat those meals. Or just post your hours openly so travelers know more of what to expect.

I liked almost everything! You walk in and immediately notice the background music, wide variety of complimentary snacks, unique personal design of the room and conditioned air. Bed was super comfy. Everything I needed for a short or long term stay. Perfect location for meeting new fellow bikers or chilling for the day right next door at the restaurant/bar/lounge.

The check-in routine caught me off guard. I received a lot of e-mails in advance of my stay asking questions not typical of any other. I now appreciate it's to make the automated service a little more streamlined but you're not expecting it. The check-in is all automated but there is someone available to speak to immediately if necessary. I understand they are going to improve this.

Virtual check in and check out, digital door code, snacks and waters waiting for us in the room, the foam mattress (loved this!), robes, and location were all great. The maps were also a fantastic addition. We used one of them the entire trip since we didn't have cell signal.

The dehumidifier and air conditioning unit in the room were pretty loud. The a/c unit would turn on, run for 10-15 seconds, then turn back off for a minute. Maybe that was the energy saver mode? The hot water was very limited in the mornings. We ended up taking showers in the evenings so we had hot water.

Pretty much everything! It's well themed for the motorhead/gear jammer. Rooms are clean, well supplied, and beds & couch are comfortable. Shower is large, and the kitchenette is great too.

Only complaints are minor. Parking can be a little rough when there are multiple cars, but it's nice there is a pad for bikes. Also, room had a dehumidifier that was a little on the loud side, and we had to dump it every morning and evening. Could be piped to the outside, or to the sink drain to eliminate the emptying.

Cozy, comfortable, great mattress. Probably one of the better sleeps I've had vs fontana village cabins. I appreciate the sweets a d treats on the bed and the robes were the best touch. The remote co tool fan and light were awesome and the attention to detail for the theme was amazing. So happy with our stay, regardless of dislikes.

No light in the shower, shower itself was very slippery, needs shower mat, sound proofing in rooms is OK but could still hear conversations at night. Pipes started knocking at 4am from the bathroom walls. I assume someone was using water a d it had to heat up, noise was incessant.

It was very unique experience. So Cool! Everything was designed perfectly. We were so happy to see such a great and unique hotel. We also surprised and really enjoyed the entertainment (!?) when we entered the room. All guests except us had cool bikes (not cars), and were so kind as to answer our questions and helped us. Super clean. Comfortable Form mattress.

The key code to enter the first room that we reserved didn't work. The door lock was broken. We changed to the next room, instead.

Amazing accommodations for the price. Way better than the chain hotel we spent $200 a night on. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Update for management - The stray dog we took (now named Dolly) is with my sister's mother-in-law and is doing amazing! She had several parasites and a few tick related diseases but everything was treatable. She lives a very spoiled life and has put on a lot of weight. She's even waiting on DNA test results and has a dog trainer. The vet thinks she is barely 1 year old. She has a long healthy life ahead of her! Thanks for your encouragement in taking her!
