Sea Horse Resort

This property is a dream. Can’t beat the location! It is centrally located and literally AT the beach! The place is modern and freshly designed — Villa #2 was well laid out with everything you could need: iron, blow dryer, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, cookware, wide open kitchen, plenty of seating, large ocean-facing windows… Enjoyed quiet bedrooms and loved the dual access entry to both upper parking and downstairs to the street level which is a main hub of pier + shops/eateries. The king bed is super comfortable… but really, nothing beat the amazing (huge) balcony overlooking the street with ocean views for days… bliss. Property is dog-friendly ($40/nt) and has hard floors throughout. Full kitchen was wonderful for bringing drinks, snacks, and leftovers. We really appreciate the free coffee vouchers for downstairs restaurant too! We didn’t use the amenities of beach toys/chairs/umbrellas or the outdoor garden lounge but love that they’re available.

Nothing to dislike! (Our room wasn’t ADA accessible.)

The location is ideal, and the view is astounding. The beach and pier are directly across the street. The staff were all amazing and incredibly helpful. We loved our unit immensely. Plenty of seating, linens, cooking and eating tools, and the ability to check out beach items from the office. We received immediate support for a television issue.

Some kitchen and bath remodel features seem to be more for looks than ease of use. No kitchen or bathroom cabinets or drawers, no towel racks, no “visual clutter” that’s useful for storing and easy access, so our things piled up on the counters. But the overall comfort and fabulousness of the unit much outweighed any negatives!

The pier bowl is a one of kind experience. You don't have to leave or go anywhere once you are checked in. But, be prepared for the train going by on a regular basis. It's wonderful to fall asleep to the ocean waves breaking.

The train does run pretty much all day everyday and our room is across the street from it. The freight trains run at night and they are a little louder. But the windows in the building mute most of the train sounds when closed.

Location - right at the beach - gorgeous views of the waves and horizon. Comfortable beds, fluffy towels, impeccably clean unit. Andrew in the office was incredibly patient and helpful. Furniture in great shape and very comfortable. Refrigerator was spotless and cold.

Premises outside needs some work - painting and flooring - we were a little spooked prior to entering our unit. But pleasantly surprised once inside! Because we came at the tail end of a heatwave and there is no a/c, we were at the mercy of fans - I just happen to be very heat sensitive - so may not be a problem for everyone. In the cooler parts of the day - mornings and late afternoon - no problem.

I went for 2 nights to celebrate my B-day and throughly enjoyed the off-season and non-weekend lower price for the view and location. We enjoyed hearing the crashing of the waves, watching the sunrise/sunset and being so close to the Pier, etc.

The first night, for some reason, we couldn't get the temperature down in our room. It was a constant 75 degrees even though we turned the heater totally off. So I slept with the fans on and the window open even though it was storming outside. It worked to regulate the temperature.

You can't beat the location. Steps from the sand. Our room thankfully was one of the few with an A/C unit and we needed it! The room (Palm Terrace) was more like an apartment, with a full kitchen, a large balcony. King bed and Double Murphy Bed in the living room. There's a nice ocean view patio that closes at 8:30 but was nice for sunset cocktails. All in all, for what we paid, we were happy with it and will probably book the same room next year for our little San Clemente visit.

If you have mobility issues, beware there are many steps/stairs and no elevator. Also, most rooms don't have A/C (which is fine 11 months out of the year, but in August could be an issue). I wouldn't really call this place a "resort" as there are no amenities beyond the rooms (though they do provide beach chairs and towels).

Great location. Defiantly worth opting for a sea view. So relaxing and great place to watch the world go by, watch the sea, sunrise and sunsets. Easy walk to beach. Great paths along the beach front. Lucky enough to see hummingbirds and dolphins while walking along …magical! 🤩

There is a microwave, fridge, toaster and coffee maker in the room. It would be nice to have a small amount of cutlery, couple of mugs, plates etc for a bit of self catering if wanted. I asked at reception and they were very helpful and kind in finding some for us. Might be nice if already in the room?

The location was perfect! We had an oceanfront view and were in walking distance of so many wonderful shops, restaurants, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and our room was quaint, clean and comfortable. We'll definitely be back again!

The only thing we had difficulty with was the parking, which is to be expected in beach communities. Resort parking was provided, but it took a few trips around the block to find one and the spaces were extremely tight.

Location is amazing, I watched the sunset every night from my ground floor room. Comfortable bed, and nice gardens to relax and watch the ocean. Very relaxing stay, 2 minute walk to Bear Coast Coffee (the best coffee!) Pizza, cafes and restaurants all at your doorstep.

Disappointed to not not have your room serviced daily, only option was to put rubbish and towles outside the room by 9am. Depending on your neighbour the walls are a thin and noise carries through. My room and the front rooms sit directly under a street lamp, the blinds in the room are not "block out" if you like a dark room to sleep in this may be a problem.

The partial view was excellent - more than expected. The location is great as you can walk to the pier and shops and restaurants on Del Mar. Of course, beach walks are readily available. The ENTIRE staff was exceptional.

Very modest kitchen. Could use a few more items to make it really useful. So many good restaurants, but for longer stays a few meals at home would be great.
