Breakfast was readily available every morning, with a nice variety also, Location was ideal for us as we planned a photo shoot and break for south and west locations. Evening meals were cooked well and a nice choice menu. Charlie and family made us very welcome from the off, nothing was too much for a superb family/staff team and made us feel like a home from home. We did move up to a second location in Clovelly for a few more days, but myself and partner made the wrong move, as this has been the best place we have stayed on Booking.com so far. We will be back down to cover more of this beautiful area with over 4500 pictures taken. My partner and I will not look in any other accommodation and work around availability at the Blue Lion in future. I would recommend this location, the Blue Lion Inn is a pub I cannot fault with our overall mark and rating of 100%

Ideally located for our needs, the proprietors were very friendly and very kindly let us check in early. The room was clean and nicely decorated. We didn't get a chance to sample the pub's food or drinks but everything was very clean with a nice environment so would have been happy to spend an evening dining there if I had the opportunity. The small breakfast was a lovely touch and greatly welcomed. Would stay again.

Don't let the outside of the property put you. Room really large and spacious and very clean. Could have done with a hairdryer in the room. Charlie the landlord very welcoming as was all the staff Self service breakfast worked very well for us. They even gave us an outer door key as we would be back after pub had shut. Would certainly stay again if back in Devon.
Porch way a little tidier! Swept and recycling kept else where.

A great little country pub to stay at for an overnighter. The room was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and dinner was yummy, and the £5 for a basic continental breakfast was perfect for us.

The staff were very friendly, the food was good. The room was comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. They did a great job of catering for one of us with food intlorances and one of us who's just plain fussy-not an easy task.
The fan in the bathroom was loud and stayed on for a long time (tiny fault, wouldnt put us off staying again). If we're picking hairs the breakfast was a bit cold (in terms of atmosphere), but thats because we were the only guests.

The breakfast was basic continental but we found it more than adequate. The owners were friendly and informed us of food service times in the pub. The beds were really really comfortable! The room just the size I expected and very clean. Free parking as promised.
It took us a minute to work out how to get in, nature of staying above a pub I suppose. The room were above a small pub. The location is a bit middle of nowhere, but we were visiting a friend in the area and it was just right for us.

Ideal location for us! The room was clean and modern. Tv has Netflix which is always handy. The shower is lovely and powerful, with toiletries provided. Didn’t hear a sound all night, lovely and quiet.

Absolutely loved staying at The Blue Lion. As two hungry cyclists who'd bee on the road all day it was a real joy to arrive at such a cosy, homely and friendly place that does excellent food and beer. We were made to feel really welcome and the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely too, and practical in that you can help yourself as soon as you wake up and be on your way.

Lovely double room with very powerful shower. Owners exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond with allowing other members of my family, to use the shower in my room due to their accommodation being washed out due to poor weather.
It would have been nice to get a farewell from them as we left but totally realise it’s a pub first and foremost and they work exceptionally long hours.

The atmosphere, friendliness of owners and regulars. The lunch and dinner menu had excellent choices and was cooked to perfection. The room was clean with good light and plenty of storage space. An excellent village inn.
