Parador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada

Being located in a delightful historic square shared with the Cathedral the location was delightful. The sympathetic adaptation of this historic building, retaining its character without ruining its charm, was a very satisfying experience. One to be recommended. Having a garage to park and being able to charge was another big tick in the satisfaction box. Other Hotels please note, this is becoming an important draw.

lovely location, beautiful building, great atmosphere, staff were extremely kind, helpful and friendly, spoke reasonable English which was a bonus. The wifi was great, great water pressure in the shower. lovely crisp linen and towels. And we were grateful for the under cover car park (extra charge) and a lift in the building as we had quite a bit of luggage. We are keen to come back and, traveling from overseas we are looking forward to also trying the other Paradors in Spain and explore other areas!

The only negative would be that the shower was in the bath. This can be slippery.

the dinners in the evening were typically parador dull but there are two great restaurants across the plaza.

Central location in a very quiet town, lovely communal reception area. Friendly staff on reception.

Our room and bed were a bit smaller than we had in the previous paradors we stayed in. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, not sure if they were short staffed but nobody seemed to have the time to listen properly to our cooked breakfast order. We were a bit disappointed with the town itself which perhaps reflected on how we felt about the hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel that we booked as a treat while doing the Camino de Santiago. The staff were not at all phased by our scruffy walkers' appearance and made us very welcome. The lobby is stunning and the room was huge and very well appointed with a very comfortable bed. There was a table and chairs and a desk for those interested in working but we were on holiday.

recent rearrangement if furniture in the entrance salon greatly detracts from what formerly was an extravagantly beautiful setting. reception staff speak no English beyond what is usually requied for checking in and out. reservation required for dining.

We loved the building and the atmosphere inside. The staff was very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay again and recommend this to anyone :)

The food in the restaurant wasn't the best, the vegetable risotto I ordered was quite dry. The rooms are a bit noisy, we could hear the people upstairs, but it's expected because it's an old building :)

More than adequate. It was possible to request eggs done in various ways as well as bacon in addition to the self-serve items.

Dinner in the evening strayed at 8.30. While this may be normal for Spanish people, it is rather late for those from elsewhere. Many of the local restaurants began their evening service an hour earlier.

Location was great. The room was lovely, dinner and breakfast were both very excellent. Service was very good and Covid policies were still very evident.

Soundproofing in what was an otherwise fantastic room could be better. The bar in the hotel seemed a little at odds with the rest of the hotel. Service was very good but the surroundings were ordinary compared to the rest of the hotel.
