Hotel Bahía

The position of the hotel is excellent. We used the triple room, and it was massive and perfect. In every way, overlooking the sea. We had requested kettle to be reserved and it was already in the room when we checked in. Although requested, we couldn’t have parking on the first day, but they somehow manage to book it for the rest of the stay. Breakfast was very good.

Before booking we had read about the other reviews about the hotel been tired I near refurbishment but we find that the hotel was perfect in every way. Everything was very clean and updated and professional looking. We liked the hotel in every way. 

The location was perfect for us. We had an organised trip booked to the Covadonga Lakes, and the pick-up point was around the corner at the Estacion Maritima. We also used the nearby bus station several times and the FEVE train station, only 5 minutes away. The hotel is right behind the cathedral and has great views from our bedroom over the bay. Also the hotel is located within the shopping district and there are several squares nearby. You won't go far wrong looking for great places to eat and drink, the hotel is near to plenty of bars and restaurants. The hotel is large and so are the rooms. The bed is comfortable, the room spacious and all clean and tidy. Four free bottles of water were replaced each day in the fridge, which we thought was a nice touch. There is plenty of choice of tasty products at the buffet style breakfast with friendly, helpful staff, on hand.

We have stayed in Hotel Bahia a few times and always book any time we travel to Santander. Clean and comfortable bedroom with fantastic views over the bay. Polite, friendly and professional reception staff. Bar staff gave excellent drinks service. Lovely public areas. Hotel is located across from ferry terminal and within a few minutes walk of city centre. The Sardinero Beach area is a 30 minute walk along a beautiful promenade. There are plenty of buses if you dont want to walk. We will book Hotel Bahia the next time we travel to Santander.

Nothing to dislike.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times before and I really like it. It is in a great location for the ferry port and city Center. They are both just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Transport links are also very close, the Brittany Ferries terminal is just across the highway, bus stops just a few minutes walk away, the bus and train station just 5 to 10 minutes walk away. There are many bars and restaurants around the area. The hotel itself has a lovely bar and great restaurant. The staff are always very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable with some having nice views out over the bay. I will definitely stay again.

What could be better is the hotel WiFi connection which I have always found to be a undependable, with signal being weak and unstable. They do not provide coffee or tea making facilities in the room. But if you ask they will provide you with a kettle

Great location right on the seafront. Very handy for shops , bars and restaurants. The room was very spacious with a view over the cathedral. The breakfast was amazing, a superb choice of hot and cold buffet, fresh fruit, cereals, eggs and bacon cooked meats cheese, as well as cakes pastries and yoghurts ! Unlimited hit and cold drinks too. The hotel was modern and stylish . On site parking was a plus too.

There was an odd smell in the room and we asked for a change of room but we’re refused . The cleaners came with an air freshener spray !The receptionist said it was the sea !! Parking at 16 euros a day was a little expensive .

Ideally placed to stroll around the town and along the sea front, the 5 minute walk from the ferry was an added bonus. City view room was ok, good size and quiet overnight.

Would have given scores as excellent if there had been tea/coffee making facilities in the room. While i appreciate there is room service i think it is generally expected that a kettle and tea/coffee are provided. Most visitors would like to wake up to a hot drink before getting dressed etc to go to the café to buy one, also needs to be made clear if the water bottles' in the fridge are complimentary or chargeable.

Superb location overlooking the water and close to the ferry terminal. Easy to walk from hotel to enjoy the waterfront. Our room was a queen size room with a sea view and also overlooking the Centro Botín and the Jardines de Pereda. The room was a comfortable size with a large bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The hotel had a bright spacious reception and cafeteria which was full of locals enjoying their Sunday afternoon. The most important thing for us was the secure private hotel parking accessed by pressing a buzzer to reception and using a lift to transport you and your car to the car park. Not free but well worth about 16 euros a day as very secure. We had drinks in the cafeteria and ate dinner in the hotel - staff were really friendly and helpful. Dinner was very good, they do a 3 course menu of the day for about 25 euros which is very good.

The view of cathedral was stunning .location was central no need to use our car.room was comfortable and air conditioning was quiet and very controllable. Bed was ok and plenty of pillows , breakfast was fantastic in the hotel and all the staff from restraunt to room service were very friendly.

There was no tea making equipment in room. Lift key worked sometimes and not others, coming out of the garage was ambiguous didn’t know to go up in lift or use ramp up, signage was confusing for us in English , guess we should have asked at desk.

This hotel is always good and kept to a high standard. It is opposite the ferry terminal and handy for an overnight stay before leaving for the UK. Staff are good. Excellent underground parking for the car. Always helpful staff and quick service. The only problem is finding the garage for the first time as it is a bit tricky until you know the exact location.

Exit from the car park to the port entrance should be studied before you leave as it is a bit complicated and if you get it wrong you could finish up seeing a great deal more of the town than you need.

We passed through Santander en route to San Sebastian and saw how central this hotel was for our last night back in Santander before flying home. The price for a massive junior suite was very good value, so I switched to the Bahia. The suite was very comfortable and - as the weather was showery - we had a duvet day, watched tv (English channels) and used the bathroom's jacuzzi. Very relaxing hotel, 4 mins walk to the bus (airport bus, ALSA coach terminal) and train stations, and near to excellent tapas bars and the market. Highly recommend it!

Minor points: I thought checkout time of 11am should be 12 n oon. A few more items in the minibar, water, minerals. There was a coffee machine, we didn't use it, we suggest that an instruction sheet would be welcome!
