Hostal Castilla I Atocha

Almost everything was as it should be: the water in the bathroom ran hot almost immediately, the bed didn't give me back pain, turning on and adjusting the heating was simpler than usual, the safe door worked. Very well designed.

Very minor things: I'd have preferred a duvet rather than sheets and blankets, pillows on the bed rather than a bolster and cushions.

The location is great. The property was clean. Kind staff. Available on WhatsApp. We had a night flight and they allowed us to leave the luggage in their premises after the check out.

At the beggining we received a room we didn't like, we asked the staff to change the room. They were kind, and after few minutes we got a room we were satisfied with.

The room was extremely clean, the bed is comfortable and you have all necessary equipment to enjoy your stay. The rooms are renovated and everything looks nice. The staff was really nice with us.

As most of the places around due to the age of the building construction you can hear absolutely everything, even a simple conversation from the near room. We have been in other "hostales" in the same area and we experienced the same situation.

Didn’t stay at Hostal Castilla I; two or so hours prior to check in I received a text to say I would be relocated to its sister hostel, Hostal Castilla II, due to refurbishment / unavailability of booked room. New location was in the centre and great; can’t compare room / service etc as didn’t experience first property

The room was small but nice. The fact that it was an interior room was perfect for me as it was very quiet. The cleaning staff were lovely. The service was great as they were in contact with me via WhatsApp from the minute I arrived at the airport

Some of the rooms looked darker & smaller than mine so be specific when requesting the type of room you would like

Great location, about 15 minute walk from all the main sights in any direction. A quiet hostel for a central location on a busy street.

Although the hostel is quiet (no street or traffic noise) the walls were thin so you could hear people in next door rooms.

Very friendly and professional lady (she was both receptionist and also cleaning the rooms) who took our issues seriously.

No reading lamp. There was only one bright ceiling light, which made it impossible for one of us to read when the other one wanted to sleep. Also not very atmospheric at evenings with the bright light.

great location, clean towels & bedding daily , good contact and communication from landing in Madrid regarding anything or help needed from staff stayed 8/5/23-11/08/23 !

for the money everything was fine, just used for a base and was ideal

Small rooms but enough to give you exactly what you need. The comfort, the cleanliness, the location, etc

The location is very startegic, the room is clean and cmfy, just right for a single traveler, and the price is just right. A value for money indeed.
