Sercotel Carlos III

Beautiful hotel within walking distance of the main town. Helpful and friendly reception staff, and smiling friendly housekeeping. Rooms tidied and fresh towels both days. Breakfast was plentiful and good choices. All food is portioned in separate bowls. Eggs, bacon ect all hot and very tasty. Cereals in sealed packages and milk and juice presented in little sealed bottles. Plenty of yogurt and fruit choices plus breads and pastries. The restaurant was extremely clean and tidy, all in all a lovely experience.

The only thing I didn’t like, and it was explained to us by the lovely receptionist, was the lack of tea/ coffee making facilities in our room. It is sadly because of COVID-19 and is something they can no longer offer. We were told of a 24 hour cafe across the road though if we needed a hot drink. This is by no means a complaint, just something for future guests to be aware of.

Really nice hotel to stay and very friendly and helpful staff. Looks like brand new or just re-opened after big refurbish as you could still smell the paint/new furniture.. :) Very comfy beds, room quite spacious. Really very clean and nice.

What I do not really fully understand is the parking. They offer in front of the hotel 18€/day parking or nearby underground one. I have no idea why they do not mention [although I did ask before my arrival] about plenty of FREE spaces 300-500m away from the hotel. Maybe only in August it was so easy to find this - hard to say but good to know that ANY street parking is free from 8PM until 9AM so if you need it only for the night stay - relax.. :)

Comfortable beds. Great price. Clean room and public spaces. Room was available for early check in. Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating

A bit noisy at times. Bathroom was awkward and the shower had some drainage issues. A/C doesn't really do much in the rooms. Not a very welcoming feel to the public spaces. Breakfast was only OK. Staff working breakfast seemed hurried and it felt, at times, the customers were more of a bother.

This hotel is parallel to one of the main avenues. It is simple but very clean and comfortable. The wifi (included in price) was good and the staff were very friendly. Parking is at a public garage nearby - I was there for a week and got a good rate at the garage with a card that allowed access in and out whenever we wanted. Around the corner on the parallel Alfnso XIII street is a fantastic tapas bar - Tio Andres. Don't miss it.

fantastic friendly welcome from Maria who couldn’t have been more helpful. Clean, bright, reception area carried on throughout the hotel. Large, clean, comfortable room. The addition of a kettle and tea, coffee, facilities was excellent as most hotels we have stayed in , in Spain, do not provide this. (something we would expect in the UK) Excellent choice of food at breakfast. 10 min walk to main pedestrian area.

not a single English TV channel. at least 1 for news would have been great. channel 43 did come up as a UK world news channel, but didn’t work.

Quiet cool room on the 6th floor. Superb breakfast with plenty of choice. I arrived early because of transport issues but the receptionist was very helpful and I was able to leave my luggage until the room was ready so I was free to take to the streets of this lovely city. Hotel is only about 15 mins from the bus station and handy for most of the sights.

Minor issue of water draining out of the washbasin so I would assume the plug is not an exact fit. It is unfortunate that the street looks rather neglected but this should not put people off as once you turn in to the hotel entrance everything is fine. Hotel very recently refurbished to a high standard but there was still a very slight smell of paint at times especially in the wardrobe.

Nice spacious room. Air conditioning. Exceptional breakfast. Friendly staff arranged a taxi to the airport for us.

Shower had no cold water. Had to wash my hair in the sink. Hair dryer not working. Told reception when we checked out and it seemed they were aware of problems with shower. Unpleasant view from room. Perhaps you get the worst rooms if you use booking..com. No trains or buses going to airport this time of year.

The location of this hotel is really good if arriving Cartagena with your car. If you are lucky there might be a spot for your car in the hotel's garage which is actually shared with the adjacent Alfonso hotel. Otherwise you have to use the public garage nearby. Parking is pretty expensive (16 euros per night) as everywhere in Spain. The breakfast was good and the room in a good shape.

All good, nothing to complain except the expensive parking...

The Alfonso XIII hotel (were we actually stayed) instead of the Sercotel Carlos III was clean, its breakfast was average. There is a lot of parking outside, so you actually do not have to use the hotel parking.

I did not like the fact that the hotel Sercotel Carlos III was actually under constraction (which on the first place was a shock) so we had to ask around what was going on. The fact that they advertise the hotel that will be completed in some months is absolutely misleading. We were told to go (by the construction workers) to another hotel Alfonso XIII which was run by the same company. As for the breakfst I did not like the fact that we had to use only one glass and one plate, which were placed on the table, which lead us to the fact that you had to put salty items and then sweets on ths same plate. The same applied to the glass. If you had drunk juice , you had to use the same glass to drink water.

The location is great - 10 minutes from the train station, and 10 minutes from the historical centre. The reception staff was super friendly and helpful. At 3 am a hockey team who was also staying at the hotel that weekend decided to have a party just above our room. I called the reception, and within 5 minutes it was quiet again. :-) Thank you for that! Everything was clean. I loved the common space on the ground floor with a microwave and a seating area.

- I've had more comfortable mattresses in much cheaper hotels. - The shower design was the weirdest I've ever come across in a hotel. Water kept running out and I was in fear of flooding the room. - More than 100 euros per night is a bit too steep, as for me. - There is a Mercadona nearby, but it doesn't have the prepared food section. The one that does is a 20-min walk away.
