NH Collection Cáceres Palacio de Oquendo

Very nice hotel in a beautiful old Spanish building. Located in the heart of the old town. Staff was very professional and friendly. Very spacious, complete and clean room and the bathroom was even better. Do not leave without the fantastic breakfast.

There is no parking space available but there is a (paid) parking garage close to the hotel (3 minute walk). This should not be a problem in most cases but we were driving a very (5.25 meter) long luxury car and could barely fit it trough the old, steep and narrow roads. This should not be a problem for most cars, but keep this in mind when driving a large car or van.

The attractive hotel is located in the centre of the old town and is conveniently placed for sightseeing and restaurants in the Plaza Mayor. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the lounge area had a basket of red apples and jugs of fresh fruit flavoured water for the guests. A comfortable bed and a tray full of coffee and tea making facilities were in the room.

Having checked in we asked for car parking and were told that the street with the main car park entrance had been closed due to building work. We were given a printed sheet with long and complicated instructions on how to find the entrance. It took us 40 minutes!! Finally,we asked the police for help and they kindly led us to the alternative entrance. On foot just a few minutes from the hotel, by car an almost impossibility! We had had a very long and tiring journey that day and didn’t need this complication .Not the hotel’s fault, but important as there is no public parking in the old town. There is parking available elsewhere.

Warning - to get to the hotel we had to drive through Caceres Old Town in our van - it is like a labyrinth of narrow mediaeval one-way streets; talk about a squeeze! We managed with some difficulty, a lot of stress and, thankfully, only one scratch. I highly recommend parking in the underground parking recommended by the hotel and walking 150 metres on foot to the hotel. Otherwise the hotel is nicely located and clean and staff are professional. It was really nice having our morning coffee on the terrace.

Magnificent historical building. Very quiet with excellent access to everything. Helpful staff and very clean, comfortable and up to date rooms.

Our room was dark with no outlook. Price depending, request a room with natural light. The parking was a nightmare as many of the streets were cut off and we couldn’t reach the parking station. We were finally helped by a passerby. On leaving, we walked the luggage back to the car which was quick and easy and there is a small escalator, so no lifting of bags.

The place was perfect. Beautiful, very comfortable, great restaurant with great staff. Perfect location. Many details in the room, such as a espresso machine with plenty of cups. Great bed and pillows. Quiet.

Nothing that one could help. The location is hard to find, but it is what it is. After all, it is an old palace just outside of the city walls. Worth the trouble of finding it. If you follow google GPS, you will have no problem.

The property is beautifully decorated and maintained in the esthetic of the historic surroundings and buildings. The rooms were very comfortable with nice amenities, and were sound proof. The ability to leave the car at the door to get checked in and settled and then access to a parking garage not far off made arriving by car easy.

We arrived with a toddler, baby stroller and a fair amount of luggage and there was nobody to help us bring them in from the car and up the 6 steps to the elevator. The small staff was very friendly but couldn't leave their post to help with luggage. This is not a good property for the mobility impaired.

The location and comfort of the rooms were excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. The dog supplement at 35 euros was high but there were dog beds in the rooms and our room had a balcony which was excellent. I would recommend this hotel. Opposite was a great restaurant that you could eat outside and our stay at Caceres was a really great experience that we would recommend to other guests

Rules of hotel mean that it is not possible to eat with your partner if travelling with dogs as dogs are not allowed to be left in the rooms alone. However overall our experience of this hotel was really good

The hotel building is beautiful, decorated with elegance and style. The central location is perfect. Our bedroom was spacious, the bed very comfy and the bathroom was exceptional. All hotel staff including housekeepng were welcoming and professional.

There was only one small skylight making the large room rather dark. We had to unplug the mini fridge as it gave off a loud buzzing noise. The bathroom window, which opened onto a central ventilation shaft, did not close properly but I managed to secure it shut with some paper to keep out any outside sounds.

Everything! Had our dog with us, everything was catered for. Spacious room and bathroom. You could have turned up in just the clothes you were in.. and had everything you needed there if your luggage was missing for example. Nice restaurant for a late dinner. Friendly staff ….perfect! We’ve already booked to come back. Wonderful city!

I couldn’t think of anything that would have made it better! Great value for money!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. We were so pleasantly surprised. The location is fantastic, easy walking around the historic town center, although the roads are a little scary to drive. Breakfast gave a huge amount of options for eating

Making cocktails. Usually hotels are great with making cocktails, but we got a cocktail the first night, then the staff on the second night refused to make any cocktails.
