Hotel La Fonda

A lovely small hotel that is full of character and charm - it felt really Spanish compared to the ugly monstrosities that scar the country's coastline. Our room was very big with a huge bed. We did not have time to try our the on-site pool or spa facilities, but we will the next time as we would definitely stay here again. The hotel is situated right in the centre of a really pretty pueblo, which being very old has very narrow streets and no parking by the hotel, although the local taxi drivers were skilled enough to get close to the hotel.

The cooked breakfast could have been a bit better, and it's a shame that the hot drinks dispenser trips out when the grill is switched on on the toast machine (the staff reset it quickly and said that the kitchen electrics weren't quite up to the job). Because it was Easter the hotel was decorated accordingly, including banners draped over the juliet balcony in our room - these unfortunately flapped in the overnight wind and disturbed what would have otherwise been a quite night's sleep. It took us two nights to work out where the noise was coming from and simply removed the banner for our third and final night.

the location just next to plaza espana in the historical old town of benalmadena is lovely . we had rooms 401 and 404 with terrace and views amazing . quirky room I loved it ! the little pool was nice . plenty of sunbeds by the pool anc in the solarium area . the restaurant was fabulous . had lunch one day and dinner another . just fantastic ! The hotel was quiet which was nice .

There was a lift from reception to spa and pool but no lift up to our room - this was fine for me but might not suit some people with these few stairs . There was no bar area and quite a walk to the small supermarket so a little hard to get a drink when by the pool during the day

Truly beautiful boutique hotel. Very serene and elegant. Breakfast was superb as was our waitress, giving us top quality service. Our room was pretty and spacious with firm but comfortable beds.

We found both receptionist off-hand, abrupt and flippant with poor customer service skills, which was a shame as the hotel is gorgeous. We would also have appriciated more info on hotel layout, dining options, room service, bar opening times and emergency/safety procedures, perhaps a welcome pack could be introduced, which would make it feel more like a hotel than a hostal.

Great and quiet hotel in the middle of the centre of Benalmadena. The staff is a little slow (took ages to check in, there was noone at the desk when we arrived), but the hotel is amazing. The bathroom is a bit outdated, but the room very spacious and comfortable with great airconditioning. We had a room next to the swimmingpool, which was great. Sunbeds enough at this time of year and no noisy kids, which we liked a lot. Breakfast was good and also dinner at the same restaurant was amazingly good. We did not miss having a terrace, because of seats and the swimmingpool at our front door. It was not noisy at all, even though the elevator was right in front of our hotel door. Probably because it was not a busy period and sensible guests.

The road to the hotel has stairs and is quite a walk when it's hot, but on the other hand you are in the middle of the old centre. Staff was friendly, but very slow.

We have stayed a few times in La Fonda, we were only here for a four night stay this time. I love that the hotel is quiet and peaceful, but a stone throw away from restaurants and bars. We stayed in room 402, after requesting and it was a big room, plenty of space overlooking the street. The room was spotless, they had water in fridge for us. The breakfast is served in the restaurant and has cereal, fruit and some hot food it was enough for us and because it's included in the price, I couldn't really complain, we got enough to fill us up. You go up and it's a bit like a buffet but you can request an omelette, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs from the staff, who bring it down to your table, there is a coffee machine and also orange juice machine. The pool is lovely, for one day we had it to ourselves which was fantastic. There is also a roof top place where there is sunbeds and the views looking down over Benalmadena and the sea is just gorgeous. I have to say the staff were lovely to us, after Covid I could see that there wasn't as many staff as before but they all worked so hard when we were there. I asked for a few things and they never were rude. If you are looking for a really modern hotel this isn't for you, it's a bit old fashioned but I loved that because your staying in the heart of the village and I felt it was quaint. We had the most relaxing few days away, and we are definitely going to be booking for longer next year.

Tbh I actually don't have any complaints.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views and amazing staff especially in the kitchen for breakfast

I booked a room with a double bed as we are a couple and the room provided was two single beds pushed together which were not comfortable. Not happy with this and unlikely to stay in the future because of this. Also not happy that the spa was not open for use. This does not make sense to me as why wouldn’t you allow your guests to use this?

Huge, spotlessly clean room. Stunning views from the balcony. Lovely, comfortable bed & room made up and cleaned daily. Friendly, helpful staff. A great breakfast selection with lots of choice. Outside areas well maintained and exceptional clean. Lovely evening meals in the restaurant with wonderful views. Was a special occasion and they went the extra mile for us!

Fantastic hotel with spacious rooms and excellent communal spaces. The pool and roof top terrace areas are very nice and kept well clean. A beautiful hotel with a must try spa, we will definitely be staying here again as regular visitors to the pueblo.

It was a shame that the hotel bar was never open. But there were enough bars around the village to make up for it. Bar Chorrillos is a friendly well recommended must visit bar.

The hotel itself is in a quiet part of the town but is in walking distance of some really good bars and restaurants. It has a really nice atmosphere and although the layout is a bit odd at first it works really well

Really lovely hotel with a great location. Staff were excellent and the overall experience was really enjoyable.

Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff, breakfast was very good, a good selection available and plenty of it, the pool was great and very quiet

The only downside was the stairs leading to the downstairs rooms as the lift wasn't working, and we had a pushchair, so we had to carry that up and down every time we went out
