Carcavelos Beach Hotel

We as a family really liked the location that’s not in the middle of a touristic zone. The beautiful and very local beach is right in front. Carcavelos train station is a nice walk away. There is a variety of restaurants plus a supermarket just behind the hotel. The breakfast floor has a nice view of the beach. The pool is really a plus for kid’s activities. Many comments about outdated facilities. It is true, but advantages overweight this minus we felt.

The breakfast can definitely have more variety, especially salads. We started bringing in some ourselves after our second day. There is traffic noise from the cost road in front, which is unfortunate.

The bed has a plastic cover which, with the heat, sticks to your body when you sleep. Quite uncomfortable. Also breakfast is always the same- so if you stay for more than a couple of days, it’s inconvenient. The cleaning personal are there daily and do a great job! However, the maintenance is what’s needed. The building looks rusty and a bit too old. Same with the bathroom floor and the carpets in the bedroom.

The staff was excellent. Especially the restaurant manager, he really gone the extra mile to make us feel good. The location was also great. Everything was easily accessible from there. The private carpark is a nice thing as well. The bed was very comfy. The view from the balcony is amazing any time of the day.

Couple of thing in the building requires a bit of TLC. The elevator went out of order one day and even when they fixed the floor display kept showing random numbers (1 on floor 8...etc). The lights in the room. It was all or nothing. If we switched off them we actually switched off all electricity in the room (couldn't charge the phones). There was no separate switch. The bathroom also wasn't spotless clean.

I would have preferred a walk in shower as I found it very difficult to climb into the bath with my mobility problems. Not even any grab rails round the bath. In the foyer the very noisy music coming from the TV screen prevented us from sitting looking over the garden.

All the staff was extremely nice, from the front desk to the cleaning crew. The mattress in our room was very confortable and it was actually a double mattress and not just 2 single beds pushed together like sometimes happens in hotels. The breakfast was very complete and tasty, buffet style served on the 8th floor where you can enjoy an amazing view from the beach and the ocean we were staying in the 7th floor so we were lucky to also have that beautiful view from our room. The pool is amazing, it goes from 0.8m all the way to 3.75m never have I seen such a deep pool in a hotel, just be sure to go early if you want an umbrella, but if you only want sun you can go anytime, the pool was also very clean too, in the morning we could see the pool being cleaned from our room. The area is also very pleasant and quiet, with lots of restaurants in the "plaza" behind the hotel, the beach is also like a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel free parking lot is also a big plus. Overall loved the hotel and hope to definitely be back.

We most liked the breakfast, the sea view from 7th floor and presence of a pool. The staff was nice and competent. In addition, the short walking distance from the beach.

The noise during breakfast hours caused by moving seats by other guests and staff on 8th floor. The barking and howling dogs in the surrounding area at night was a challenge if balcony door remained open.

Great pool which was very quiet for our stay and we could always get a sun bed. The breakfast was a nice mix of hot and cold food and it changed slightly everyday. It is literally two minutes walk from the beach.

The fan in our room was a bit temperamental and noisy which sometimes kept us awake. The first morning we were woken up by builders hammering upstairs but luckily that didn't happen again.

Great hotel at a fantastic location. The view from the restaurant could not be better. Panoramic view right across the beach's of Lisbon. The rooms are very large and spacious. Beautiful little balcony. Behind the hotel there is a square with many restaurants. 2 minutes walk and I suggest the sushi all you can eat. I did book the hotel with a special price as usually this type of hotel is out of my price range.

Best location - near beach. Free parking. Awesome views from the restaurant during breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Good wi-fi connection in room. Generally clean.

Furniture a bit dated. Bathtub shower/faucet turn on at the same time (maybe needs to be fixed to save water). Door/Key sometimes quite tricky to open

Comfortable bed, nice view, very good daily cleaning. Close to the ocean.

The same breakfast all the time... Sausage, "bacon" and not tasty scrambled eggs (made from powder)? Quite noisy neighbourhood.
