Scandic Torget Bergen

Excellent location for visiting as a tourist. Only 100 metres from main tourist information centre and the Citibus hop-on, hop-off bus tour route. Only 150 metres from the harbour and the famous fish market. Close to many shops and restaurants. Comfortable, clean room. Helpful staff. Lots of choice of hot and cold food for breakfast.

No drawers or shelves for storing clothes. Only a short rack for hanging a few jackets. Not a problem if you are staying one or two nights, but we were staying for 6 nights and had no choice but to keep all our clothes in our suitcases on the floor, even though our Standard Room was big enough to be provided with a small drawer unit.

Perfect location in the heart of city and close to the ferry point. Nice lobby with comfortable seats. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast spread was FANTASTIC! I booked 2 rooms of the same price. I stayed 3 nights in a big cosy room with big double bed. My 2 sisters (58 years old and 61 years old) stayed for 2 nights in a very small room with 2 single beds. All the beds are very comfortable.

Both rooms were listed as "with inner courtyard view" but it would be ideal if it was a nice courtyard view. Instead, my sisters' room (Rm 431) has a back lane parking view and there was no mini fridge in their room so they had to open one window slightly and put the salmon and ham on the window sill to keep them cool. My room (Rm 607) has the view many air-conditioner's compressors and the unpleasant noise everytime they discard glass bottles into the recycle bins. It was also quite dusty in the rooms. We have dust on the electric kettles, clothe hangers, shelves etc. Because of these slight "imperfection", I gave 8/10; otherwise this hotel would have a 10/10 🙂

The hotel has an excellent location, a few steps away from the historical area, an easy walk to the train station and to the tram that goes to the airport. Lots of great eating options right outside the hotel. The staff is really nice, very welcoming and attentive, ready to answer questions and to be of help. Excellent breakfast with lots of variety and high quality of food. The common spaces and the room were impeccably clean, the bed super comfortable.

No proper space to store luggage in the room, no desk, fridge or wardrobe. The shelf space in the bathroom very limited as well.

Location location location. Very central to all the interesting ‘must see’ things to do in Bergen.

A hazard on entering the room. At the door threshold was a very high wooden batten. We weren’t warned of this. My 80 year old mother tripped and fell completely on her face. Luckily she was ok despite this. I did alert staff to this hazard & the need for this to be properly highlighted on entering. Or something to be done to mitigate this. The room was also very warm. No air con & window limited to how much could be opened due to room height (7th floor)

The hotel is in a fabulous location, right on the harbour and close to everything. The views from our room were amazing! We were given a room upgrade, which was a room suitable for someone in a wheelchair. It was perfect for my husband who had broken his ribs!( prior to our checking in at the hotel) The bed was adjustable, using a remote control, which made sleeping easier for him,and the toilet had pulldown armrests, which he found handy for his limited mobility. The Reception staff on the afternoon/ evening shift ( Nina and a lady from Latvia), were amazingly kind and supportive as I tried to sort out cancellations and new flight bookings with both our travel insurance company and travel agents. Nina was also able to negotiate an additional night’s stay ,beyond our original booking, and in the same room! Nina also kindly booked a taxi for my husband to go to the ED. for xrays etc. I can’t praise these ladies enough, for their helpfulness and kindness! They were brilliant! The breakfast is very good, with lots of choices.

It’s not the fault of the hotel, but the music from the harbour area was extremely loud and went quite late, making it difficult to sleep. Not sure if this is usual for Friday and Saturday nights, or if something special was happening in town.

The hotel is right at the bryggen, right at the city center and for those who travel to Bergen for the first time it could be perfect starting point to explore. We weren’t there for the first time but wanted to be close to the center as mush as possible and this hotel made it possible. Our room had all necessary amenities + breakfast included which had great variety of food. Amazing view on the center if you are lucky to have windows facing that side☺️

Not the best place to be on Friday night as night life in Bergen is pretty active and people partying a lot, so we heard a lot of noise and bikers group driving the central streets. But other than that all was good 😌

The location is absolutely spectacular overlooking the fjord and the fish market. Extremely friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Amazing breakfast that one should not miss. Definitely recommend.

Only one elevator which did not creat much of a problem for us but might disturb some guests. No help for luggage and again it was not a big issue since we are a family of adults but might be a problem for other guests. No parking, but there is a number of public parking lots within a walking distance. One should consider that is is an economic hotel and not a luxury one hence the lack of such services.

It was a cozy room, the breakfast was great, the staff helped me when I needed help. Lockers for dropping off baggage before check-in so we could explore without bags.

The thermostat didn't go below 20.5 and we had a room towards a loud courtyard, so having the window open wasn't much of an option for night time (we like it cold for sleeping). And we couldn't get cold water in our room. If the faucet was turned all the way to cold it was just a dribble of water that came out and was burning hot.

We arrived few days before Christmas and they made small changes in our booking, but in order to compensate us, we got a room with the Bryggen view! Staff was very friendly, the breakfast was super delicious and the hotel is just few steps away from the port. Right next door there is a supermarket, 5 minutes walk another supermarket, pharmacy and a big mall as well. The airport tram terminates 5-6 minutes from the hotel. Thank you for making our stay so unique!

Breakfast was great with a huge variety to choose from. This is a modern city hotel right opposite Bryggen and central to all the sights in Bergen with the ferries a couple of minutes walk away. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and there is an area in reception to sit and get coffee from a machine. Huge window in the bedroom to watch the world go by!

It is a good location for seeing the sights of Bergen but doesn’t have much public space to sit and relax.
