Hotel Aldea 19 Bacalar

The location of this hotel is excellent! It's right on the lagoon and directly across from Isla de los Pajaros. (For you birders that plan to go during migration, this is a great spot.) The hotel has a bar and restaurant on site. Since they only opened a few weeks ago the restaurant only offers breakfast (excellent!) and lunch (didn't have it), but will soon offer dinner service as well. The staff at this hotel and restaurant were all friendly, accommodating, and super helpful. Carlos (owner/manager) helped us with booking a private lagoon tour, made recommendations for restaurants, and was super attentive. The rooms are a good size and offer plenty of space for working or lounging. The facilities are new and everything was in working order and clean.

What an amazing hotel!!! Right on the water with its own private dock. The rooms are fantastic!!! Large, modern with great beds and linen. Everything is super clean and well maintained. The staff is really awesome as well. Carlos helped us with a tour. He speaks great English and is so polite and professional. The on site restaurant is really, really good. The modern and gourmet kitchen is a huge step up if what you normally see in Mexico. The food is exceptional and Ruby (our server) always has a smile. The service from all the staff is just top notch. Do yourself a favor, stay a few nights, you will thank me later

We chose this place to spend New Year's and we weren't disappointed. The rooms were very nice (especially when you have beach view), the staff super friendly and the on-site restaurant was great. Also, the location at the bay was perfect for relaxing, swimming or taking a boat tour right from your hotel (like we did). There was a tiny shop next door, another good restaurant across the street and the pretty town of Bacalar is just a few minutes away. We would definitely come again.

Two small details: The TVs had no TV reception, just Netflix, which was a bit inconvenient for some of our party. Also, a mini-fridge for drinks in the room would have been great.

The hotel is very good. Very clean and convenient. Near the city so you can go in by car or foot. The view is incredible. You can chill by the lake on the sunbeds, it's very calm and relaxing. Everyone on the comments say the breakfast is small but it is not, you just have to choose between courses but it's very large and more than enough. If you want extras, they are very affordable and delicious. The staff is very friendly and smiling which is very nice. Just be sure to book the lake view room, if not, the view and I think the experience is not that good. I took a look at the other hotels around and I think Aldea is the best run for your money.

Spacious clean room. Lakeview with good sunbeds. Nice staff. Fixed the AC the same day after reporting it :) Lunch, try the avocado toast.

Loud music during the day, begins quite early during breakfast, which we could hear in the room. Breakfast options could be diversified, at the moment just a variety of egg dishes.

The hotel is beautiful and directly at the lagoon. As a result, you don't have to go out of your way to find a place to enter the lagoon, which can be tricky in Bacalar. The food and drinks are amazing too, so you really don't have to leave the hotel for anything.. So relaxing! The hotel looks new and is clean.

The only thing we didn't like was that after spending all our time in the hotel and buying plenty of food and drinks, we were charged 50 pesos for a broken glass in the room. It leaves a bad taste because it's something tiny to be charged for.

Nice hotel in a great position on the lagoon, it s a new building, actually they opened from few weeks and even if they need a bit of practice the owner cared a lot about how we were doing.

As they are new the restaurant still doesn't work for lunch or dinner and they don t have kayaks or paddles (we ve been told they are coming)

Laguna access, relaxed atmosphere, breakfast included, drink vouchers for bar, AC+safe in room, and convenience store next to hotel. Super friendly reception ladies helping us with restaurants and calling taxis (no uber in Bacalar yet).

Room and bathroom were a bit dark and felt like basement - although paying €300 for two nights short notice this didn't seem like great value. However, we had laguna access. Loads of mosquitos in the evening hours and also during the day due to the laguna. No free/private parking, you gotta find a spot on the street (white curb) or across the road on some gravel area. Also no fridge and a bit of a weird food/drink policy, since they do not allow you to bring or consume anything from outside from 8am-8pm (bar opening hours).

The hotel is located right in front of the lake which for this price is prefect. The hotel is quite small with only a few rooms which we saw as a good thing. There is a restaurant for breakfast and lunch which is perfect and delicious. You have a few restaurants nearby, only 2 minutes walking. Room was a bit simple but good enough.

There were no rentals, like kayaks or peddle boards. A few neighbors had them but would be nice if the hotel offers this. The staff is friendly but could be more social as to explain a few things in the area. The bed is quite hard

Fabulous location right next to the water with hammocks and swings in the water and not far driving from the center. Loved the loungers next to the water!

A little more information about the area at check would be helpful, they suggested a private boat excursion but when we asked about it we were told Carlos would come and find us and he never did - we organised our own in the end. Felt like they could have included the extras in breakfast rather than making everything supplements. Finally, take care, the stairs into the water can be slippy! If they could put some non slip would be great Overall though clean rooms and proximity to the lake make the trip.
