Real de Chapala

The entire staff was excellent. They cleaned our room daily, provided clean towels and were very friendly. The pool area was well maintained and was an excellent place to relax. The location was great, and was within easy walking distance to the plaza and lake shore. My wife and a guest ate breakfast a few times at the hotel and she said it was delicious with a great choice. It was very quiet and we slept well. My wife slept in but I got up early to go on hikes, and we both felt very safe. The hotel is well managed, clean and well lit. We enjoyed our 6 day stay and definitely will do again.

The location, view and gardens are great! We also enjoyed the two pools and the nice spacious rooms, as well as the breakfast buffet.

Overall it is a very nice hotel, and I would stay here again. However, they seemed to have been short-staffed on the day we checked in (Saturday) as many rooms were not available at check-in time (we did get compensated with late check-out), and the service was not great at dinner at the hotel restaurant (and there were not many tables to serve).

lack of maintenance, cleanliness overall can be improved and property looked old even though it is, however the lack of attention to some common areas and Suites made it more evident. Restaurant offerings where close to none, expensive and restaurant staff seemed not to care about service or attention. No information regarding operating hours was posted or advised anywhere.

I loved the delicious food and the location and view of the lake. I also liked that there were multiple pools with different tempratures. The gardening was also exceptional.

my personal pool was a little dirty and covered in debris. The pool water also seemed to go down overnight. food was delicious but I'd like for breakfast to be included in the room's price. I almost did't book here simply for not including breakfast.

Nice location. Plenty of parking at this older, dated property in a prime location with attractive grounds along the lakeshore.

Staff aren't driven to ensure customer satisfaction, there's a slow laziness mood, you see it in the level of care to clean the rooms and public spaces, in the restaurant staff, sadly even the front desk staff. I did not dine at the hotel. I went down for dinner and they just never welcomed me, then someone walked me to a table and that was it, no more service for ten minutes. My Spanish is solid, it wasn't busy, they just ignored me. I drove down to Tango and they had a solid menu and timely service. So i figured they wouldn't be up to the challenge of breakfast.

The grounds were beautiful at this lovely old colonial property in a beautiful neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

It was advertised as free wi-fi on the whole property, but rarely worked. The rooms were large, but the beds were hard as a rock. The shower heads need cleaning as they sprayed everywhere but on you.

no AC!!! made it very hard to sleep at night! staff was always moody and not very welcoming! I expected customer service to match the facilities image! both at reception, restaurant and bar the customer service can definitely use lots of improvement.

Best overview of Lake Chapala. Delicious Sunday morning brunch. And all staff is very attentive.

I’ve stayed at this hotel for years, but this year I had to rate them a little lower due to black mold in the showers. A little bleach is needed. I don’t know why the maids don’t take care of that daily. All the guests spend hours around the pool and on the poolside chairs….so why isn’t someone assigned to clean the bird crap off the chairs and the railings? Not acceptable!

The property is set on a beautiful stretch of the lake. It was in a residential area so quiet but still close to town. The pool area was fabulous and spacious/. The restaurant for breakfast was very nice as well. The value was good for the room and location. The staff was most helpful at all times, nothing was too much trouble.

It didn’t have AC which for the most part was ok. But it did get very hot in the room in the afternoon. A fan was provided for the room. The wifi was a little slow at times to Hold the connection.

The rooms are very spacious. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on this. The location is perfect for the Wednesday market.

There didn't seem to be any options available to eat a quick snack. There are no places within walking distance to get anything to eat.
