Menzel Ubud

This is one of the most beautiful looking places I have ever stayed. Our house (2 bedrooms, perfect for a family of 4) had a tiny private pool next to the terras overlooking the rice fields. The general swimming pool has a nice temperature and is large enough to do some real swimming. Breakfast is really good with many attractive choises. We also had other meals a few times and those were fine too. Staff was super friendly. We stayed for a whole week to explore a large part of the island from here and it was perfect. You can actually walk to the center of Ubud from the accomodation, but is is also very easy to order a taxi via Grab (local Uber). Also, hotel staff can arrange a driver for you. Yes, the last few streets to the hotel are very narrow, but any local driver will manage).

The bungalow and the surroundings is incredibly beautiful. It is a quiet place for relaxing. Also it was 20/30 min walk from the busy street in Ubud where several restaurants/massage places can be found. The staff are very kind and attentive. The room was beautifully decorated for our honemoon and birthday as well. Overall very pleased with Menzel.

We thought that the classes are included but it would be a separate charge when requested by the customer. The prices in the hotel restaurant (same for the spa) are high. However the portions are big if you chose the right dishes. It is better to go for a walk in Ubud centre to eat.

Menzel Ubud is visually very beautiful. The gardens and architecture really appealing.

I had the feeling that management are stingy and profit driven. The environment is beautiful to dine in and we would have more often if the restaurant and bar were less rationed in everything (even salt and pepper is controlled). The walk into town was about 45 min and I really thought that the hotel provided a shuttle service at the time of booking. We had extremely noisy neighbours 1 night and couldn’t sleep. We were only offered a room upgrade at a discounted rate to compensate and an apology. We thought that it was poor form of management. Luckily for us our partying neighbours behaved themselves the next night.

This property is a little hidden oasis, nothing short of peace and quiet in an increasingly hectic Ubud. We loved our stay here... the villa was a beautiful traditional Balinese style with a plunge pool overlooking the rice paddy field. We loved the plush new towels, the soft bed, the Yoga Shala, and the privacy of the location. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout. We had some delicious and healthful meals and juices. We spoilt ourselves to a healing session with local elder and intuit Wayan. His insights and clearing therapy left us both feeling lighter, more focussed, and freer. The team did a marvellous job decorating the deck for a romantic dinner complete with floral arrangements and candles. That night, in addition to birdlife, we saw bats and frogs up close and personal (a delightful nature experience - not negative. We were, after all, sitting within the rice paddy).

We had a truly delightful experience, and we enjoyed retreating back to the Menzel after exploring the busier parts of Ubud. The only point I'll make for improvement is that the food for the romantic dinner seemed pre-cooked and re-heated. Nowhere near as high quality as the a la carte meals we enjoyed. The Surf and Turf seemed to have pre-cooked prawns, and the "steak" was a few slices of beef with gristle served with over-cooked vegetables (some blackened). It was as though the chef had pre-cooked the meal before leaving for the day. The team seemed in a rush to serve us, so we had to ask for a break between courses. The ambience and location were lovely, however.

Our stay at Menzel Ubud was FANTASTIC! The hotel is simply stunning: everything from the rooms to the common areas was impeccable and beautifully decorated. I also loved the location of the hotel, secluded from the crowds but easily accessible. The food was delicious as well, we tried many breakfast options and dinner. Lastly, a special mention to the staff. They all were super nice and friendly, smiling at all times. They even called us to remind us that breakfast finished at 10 because we fell asleep! I also did a private yoga class which was an unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything, we will come back!!

We were very happy because we got upgraded to one of the little huts (for a little bit extra per night). Its in a rice paddy which is really pretty. Were were hoping to spend more time at the hotel and swim in the pool but were too busy going sight seeing every day. The food was good and we were happy with the location. We had to check out before breakfast started and the Hotel were very accomodating and fed us before opening time which was totally amazing.

As its in a rice paddy there are a few mozzies around so be sure to bring your repellant. Luckily there were no bugs in our room which was a big plus. They advertise 'Yoga' & 'Healing' both of which you had to book for a private session and didn't have regular set times so we didn't end up doing it. It would have been nice to get involved it was a group session but I guess there weren't enough people booking it.

The staff is lovely, so welcoming, speaking English very well. The pool and restaurant has nice views. The chef at the restaurant must be congratulated individually, he is above expectations. He cooks kind of fusion. He can add even more interesting food in the menu. Location is calm. The hotel's tours are fairly priced and very well organized, you can trust and book with them. The size of the room, patio and the bathroom were above expectations. It is tastefully decorated.

First of all, I thought I booked one of those nice bungalows I see in the photos but instead I booked a room in the villa next to the bungalows. At the villa, there is no privacy, no sound isolation, the door have 2-3cm space with the wall so you have all small visitors (lizard, ants etc) all day and night long in your room. On reservation page, I didn't see this difference between staying at the villa or the bungalow...

The location is great, right at the heart of Ubud, but it feels like a rural area. Not much noise around. The breakfast was good and the female staff were extremely helpful. You can rent a bike and it's really recommend, otherwise you'll have really on cars to get out of the hotel.

The male staff don't really speak english and it's hard to fulfill a simple request. There was a continuous noise of the water pump going on during the night, not grat to help you sleep. The restaurant was expensive and not that good. They have a laundry service that's double the price of the one just next to the hotel, do not use it.

Breakfast was ok. The only thing that menu never changes. Portions kind of small but seen worse than that. Over all food was ok

Everything was ok till the moment we saw two rats running on our room. this was unacceptable so we had heated conversation with a manager who said on the phone that he is not coming because it is raining. after more back and forward we solved the issue.
