Hôtel de l'Europe

We had broken down and were staying in Poitiers unexpectedly while our car was being fixed. We were so glad to find this hotel - it was just what we needed. Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They were thoughtful about our room allocation, helpful with storing our things and attentive at breakfast and around the hotel. They also helped me contact the garage that was fixing our car when I had not managed to do so. The lounge area is really nicely decorated and comfortable to sit in. Breakfast was excellent, particularly the home made lemon cake and local produce.

The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring the city. The staff were very welcoming on arrival, greeting us as we pulled up in the car. We hadn't pre-booked a parking space but they accommodated us on arrival. Parking was a real bonus. We booked 2 double rooms (2 adults, 2 children) with no guarantee that the rooms would be close to each other but at check in, (and recognising we were a family with young children) they kindly offered to move us to their family room set up. The staff were so friendly and helpful. This made our stay very comfortable and easier with children. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and of great quality. I would not hesitate to stay again.

If I was being picky, the breakfast room was rather small and a bit chaotic at peak time but you couldn't fault the food.

The location is perfect in the centre of town

On arrival the road was blocked by a stuck bus, so we went straight to our dinner reservation. We phoned the hotel to let them know. On our return, we were allocated room 15 and 16, however the clerk could not find the keys for room 16. She came upstairs with us with a passkey, knocked on the door, opened the door and switch the light on, the room was already occupied (apologies to the occupant). We were offered either the other building or a floor up. As we were travelling with family we opted for a floor up. Obviously somebody made a mistake earlier in the day. The front desk waived the carpark charges the following morning.

The staff were helpful and kind and service was excellent. The room was clean and big enough and everything worked. Breakfast was very good. There was a good outdoor space for sitting out in. In the centre of the old town, it was well placed for visiting attractions and there were a number of good restaurants close by.

No air-conditioning and while electric fans were in the room they didn't have the same effect as AC. Parking was limited but having paid per night there was always a space for us.

Wonderful, helpful and kind staff, who went out of their way to offer to make copies of the excellent information brochures for the historic sites in Poitiers.

It would have been helpful to be aware BEFORE booking that the on-site private parking may not be available if the car park is full. In the event, we were able to park at the hotel for our second night but it would have been good to be able to weigh up the options before committing ourselves.

Last minute booking but speedy communication re request for parking. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Nice room with comfy bed and great bedside lighting (ambient/reading). Electric fan and kettle. Great shower, bath and toiletries. Decided next morning to have the continental buffet breakfast which was no problem - great selection & quality of food & drinks. Didn’t have much time to explore the town, but would definitely return if the opportunity arises.

The breakfast room at Hotel de l'Europe is magnificent, with sumptuous breakfasts while looking down on the back garden. The hotel is also convenient for the centre of Poitiers, for tourists or business.

Il fait chaud! The hotel could benefit from air conditioning in summer - I kept my window open overnight, which did allow cooling but not until after midnight. Also the Wifi is insecure, which means anyone can access your computer - I believe this allows anyone to access the hotel's phone account (which loads automatically). Finally the staff were OK, but not as friendly as I remember from 2019 or earlier (before the pandemic).

The locartion was excellent, right in the center of the city, so that it was easy to walk to most destinations. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ample and the food was good.

The coffee was not very good. It would have been nice if hotel guests could order espresso, capuccino, etc. And although the breakfast food was good, it was laid out in a confusing manner, with little guidance or assistace. More helpful staff in the breakfast area would b good. Finally, te bar never seemed to be staffed, and the lovely garden at teh back looked desolate. It owuld have been great if the hotel had offered a "happy hour" out there.

The hotel has car parking and a 22kW Type 2 EV charge point on site - both required to be booked in advance. The hotel is a few minutes from the pedestrianised centre of Poitiers - a perfect location, if a little complicated to find. It has a garden, breakfast room and bar/lounge. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was continental style and plentiful. There are excellent restaurants and bars nearby.

The hotel is located incredibly close to the city centre and was easy to find. There is parking which, although it felt like it should be a bit of a tight fit, was incredibly well organised. the breakfast was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. The rooms were bright, clean and well decorated. The garden and lounge were also lovely for spending time relaxing.
