Hôtel L'Alsace-Gare sncf

Nice welcome and helpful staff, rooms a bit on the small side, toilet had limited space but it was all clean and practical. A 15 minute walk into town revealed a beautiful square, Canal walks and an abundance of pubs, restaurants and cafes. Shopping area also just off square. Hotel opposite railway station, no noise emanated from it as our room faced it and we slept well. A great town to explore, the Hotel was in a “less affluent” area but had it’s charm. Local supermarket for essentials a few yards around the corner.

Parking was on street and you took your chance, a tad concerned as we were on motorbikes. Nothing bad to say about hotel at all. You get what you pay for, it was all good.

The great location across from the train station is why we chose it. The host was great, accommodated my request for a low floor since I’m on crutches, and there is no elevator. He even carried my bag upstairs which was wonderful. The room was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed.

There was little sound barrier from the next room. We could hear the TV and conversation next door. Also, the sound of the neighbor showering and gargling woke me up in the morning because I thought she was in our bathroom. Also it was great to have a hair dryer, but there was no outlet in the bathroom. And no mount for the shower head - hand held only. Overall would still recommend.

Proximity to the station although the area wasn't great and at first we thought that the hotel looked a bit crummy, but once inside it was fine and the male receptionist was very welcoming and helpful as he took our cases to the room. In fact it was near cafés and a Carrefour City which was very helpful as we hadn't booked breakfast.

The stair carpet was poor and stained and let the rest of the hotel down. The shower was also not good and not easy to get a good spray.

It was exactly what we needed for an overnight stay en route to Barcelona, directly across the train station, market around the corner and several cafés within walking distance. Beds very comfortable, our room basic but remodeled/updated very nicely. Staff very friendly, we had a very late check in, communication was timely and instructions clear to access property after hours.

There are no elevators so fortunately the room for my mom and aunt was on 1st level, ours was 3rd…for elderly this might be an issue climbing stairs with luggage if no one able to help and lighting very dim, we had to use our phone lights.

Hotel is simple but had everything I was looking for. Internet worked well. Bed was comfortable. When I went, weather was very warm so location across from train station and the A/C we're greatly appreciated. Staff were kind. Provided me with cold bottle of water when room wasn't ready quite at check in time and held my bag for some hours after check out.

My room was located street side. Bathroom had full length window which was great for lighting. A design of wavy lines was used to distort view in/out a bit, but I would have preferred option of closing a curtain for more privacy.

The beds were comfy and the air-conditioner hummed nicely to provide a cool room in the hot summer to sleep in. The owner was really friendly during the reception.

It seemed there was no receptionist and you have to call a number so that the owner comes over and lets you in which is only displayed on the hotel's entrance door (at least the number given on Google went to voice record). We, a family of five with a 2-year old, arrived in the evening so this was a bit of a setback. At the same time, the owner was there in 2 minutes after the call so it wasn't that bad.

The hotel is right across the street from the train station. The owner of the hotel is wonderful and he met me at my designated time of arrival. My room was beautiful, large, comfortable, non-smoking, quiet and clean . He helped me carry my very heavy luggage up and down the stairs, upon arrival and departure. I did not have a French telephone when I arrived, which I needed. He advised me where to buy a French phone chip right around the corner, then helped me install it on my phone. In the morning, I enjoyed a delicious grande cafe creme in a calm atmosphere. When I left, he even helped me carry my very heavy luggage to my train platform at the train station . He went over and above most hotels to help me. It has been a pleasure doing business with him and his family run business.

The front desk is not always occupied due to the small size of the hotel. There is a telephone number posted in the window when the front door is locked, that I am sure it would be responded to immediately. However, I had a non-French telephone that could not call this French telephone number when I arrived. This was not a problem since the owner was there to meet me. However, this could possibly be a challenge for foreign travelers, if their designated arrival time unexpectedly changed. After I checked in, he immediately helped me remedy my communication issues. He advised me where to purchase a French phone chip right around the corner and helped me install the French chip on my telephone. My phone now works perfectly in France and my communication issues resolved.

The hotel is very conveniently situated opposite the Station and within walking distance of the town centre. This suited us very well as we arrived off the train from Paris. The manager in charge was very helpful indeed and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He personally carried our luggage to our rooms and explained everything to us in a very clearl way. Breakfast was good and the rooms were clean and well equipped. I will be back !

No complaints for the price which was very reasonable

It is directly across the train station and like a ten minute walk to the center, which was very convenient. So the location is top, and the room size was quite alright as well. It was clean and everything worked well, including the Wifi.

The shower didn't have a curtain or door, so the floor got wet. And there were no hooks or anything in the bathroom, which was a bit annoying but not a big deal.

Excellent location directly opposite train station. Short walk to historic areas Warm welcome and check in Room modernised with tasteful decor. Super comfy bed. Very clean Excellent wifi

I liked open outlook across to station entrance. Surprisingly quiet except early am. Also strong winds overnight with some rattling Only minor comment But new window fittings would sort that and are probably on the list of upgrading.
