Hotel Richmond on Rundle Mall

Great location! Can't fault it at all. Close to trams, trains, Museum, Art Gallery, Old Parliament house, and 10 min walk to the river. I had a room on 5th floor, with doors opening onto a narrow balcony facing Rundle Mall that had fantastic views up and down the mall and to the hills in the distance. As a first time visitor to Adelaide, this was a bonus! Great communication from the reception team, regarding after hours check-in. That whole process went smoothly. Michelle at reception was very friendly and helpful - it's nice to be greeted with a genuine smile :-) Comfortable bed and pillows. Spare blanket in the wardrobe if needed. Aircon worked well to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Good water pressure in shower and plenty of hot water.

The lounge furnishings were fairly dated and not all that comfortable to sit on. I'm an explorer from sunrise to sunset type of person, and tend to spend the evening in my hotel room relaxing and planning for the next day, so I do like a nice lounge to sit & relax on. A microwave in the hotel room would have been a great addition, and unfortunately the bar fridge was barely cool, not cold.

We were upgraded upon booking so we had a fabulous large room. Michelle was amazing with her communication via messages and we had the pleasure of meeting her in person upon check in and out of the hotel.

The balcony, whilst suitable for adults, worried me in terms of children staying in that room and potentially climbing up and over the wall. I would certainly consider staying again with our son because the room size is perfect for the 3 of us but I'd be very nervous about him being out on the balcony.

The taxi could not stop in front of Hotel Entrance which is difficult to find the first time as there are many signs of different shops and business in Rundle Mall, so you have to walk with all your baggage to find the Entrance. It happened one night the key card to enter the elevator and the room was demagnetised and no way to phone the reception as it's not opened 24 hours.

The staff were excellent especially Michelle who was truly first class, nothing was to much trouble and she was very knowledgeable of city and whee to go!

It was in a pedestrian mail which meant taxi could not drop off outside hotel which meant hassle with bags and finding location which I could have done without

Some of the mattresses need replacing as the spring has sunk inwards in the centre. Did not have a microwave to heat up own food after they had been in fridge The messages sent on booking.com can be quite repetitive and sent quite a number of times prior to check in, they are depersonalised as it's a standard message.

The bed and pillows wete extremely comfortable. The location was excellent being in the centre of the city on a pedestrianised street, close to shops and restaurants. There was a tram stop at the end of the mall, free to travel round the city and cost just a few dollars for the 35 minute ride to Glenelg on the coast. This hotel was very good all round value for money.

The restaurant and bar was not open every day and was a long cold room, though cannot comment on the food as we only had a drink there on the balcony. However there were many good cafes and restaurants in the vicinity. The strip light in the bathhroom was not working for the first 2 days but when I mentioned it to the receptionist she immediately arranged for it to be fixed.

Location on Rundle Mall is perfect. Room was good size, bed was comfortable, walking distance to many tourist places and along the river, Botanic Gardens and Zoo. Very quiet at night. Balcony on 1st floor, nice to sit out there for a drink and people watch.

As we were driving our own vehicle, we had to park in a Wilson's carpark which is behind the hotel. They won't let you stay for more than 48 hours or 72 hours, so as we were there for a week, we had to take the car in and out on 2 occassions, then go straight back in. The hotel reception provides you with parking tickets, we paid them up front which was another $175 on top of hotel cost. This is no fault of the hotel, just a rather silly idea of Wilson's parking.

The location was excellent , very central . The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable

The hotel is a bit dated. Needed some general repairs. Also we booked a larger room as snoring etc means sometimes we sleep in separate beds. We had to talk the staff in to allowing us to use two beds without incurring and extra charge. Weird rule, if you book a suite you should be able to use whatever beds you want. Also they don’t service the room every day, unless you ask, so the bins overflowed and toilet paper supply was an issue

Arriving at the hotel after reception hours was made all the easier by the instructions given to me before arrival. The hotel is in a fantastic location in a pedestrian area so no traffic noise to disturb us. Being located on a mall there was everything required to make our stay enjoyable. Michelle at reception was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and answer any questions we had

Nothing negative to say about the hotel

The Richmond is very central, in the middle of the main shopping district. Sadly there wasn't much of a cafe/bar presence locally. We did not try the hotel bar which was closed by 8pm. We had a bedroom and sitting room suite which was excellent value, comfortable and clean. The car parking is in a multi storey 5 mins walk away, the desk sells a multi get out ticket for 24 hours which is good value

Australia shuts down too early in the evening. Nothing to complain about with the hotel.
