1. Staff. The girl on reception was super friendly and helpful. 2. Cleanliness. I’m very strict about the cleanliness of the hotels, but Calamo Guesthouse is exceptionally clean. 3. Warmness. The heating was working great, and despite the cold weather in November, we were very comfortable in our room. 4. Location. The hotel is in the heart of Madrid and near the metro stations. Also, the Prato museum is in 10 minutes by foot! 5. Breakfast. Hotel will give you vouchers for the three caries located in 60 metres near the hotel. I recommend go to Casa d Diego, they have the tastiest breakfast and nice service. And I don’t recommend Brown Bear, because it is too crowded. I will definitely return to this hotel!

we loved the fact that the hotel was located really near to the city centre so we barely used the metro , the owners were exceptionally kind, the hotel room was clean and basically we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.

We got vouchers for breakfast which was very nice. The first morning we visited Brown Bear which did not really live to our expectations as the food we received was quite dry and lacked some kind of sauce and we only received 1 drink, while in the Diego place we received two drinks a croissant or something sweet and salty. We really recommend going here !

We arrived and got a very warm welcome by the "receptionist". Eventhough our arrival was before the stated check in time they made it possible that the cleaning lady preferred our room and we can store our luggage inside the room. That was very nice. The room got cleaned everyday, so we felt comfortable in the room. Furthermore the owners were kind. They showed a high interest that we enjoy our stay and feel comfortable. Especially the location was great. We did not have to take a bus or Uber once and could discover everything walking which we always appreciate for a city trip. The close neighbourhood was great as well and had nice bars, restaurants and small bakeries as well as nice "Cervecerias".

There is no elevator, but that is stated in the description.

The venue was clean and tastefully decorated. I paid for a cheaper room so I had no view and the room wasn't too spacious but it was still a very good price-value ratio. The receptionist was exceptionally kind. It is centrally located so I was able to walk everywhere.

The walls are rather thin so I was able to hear other guests moving around or talking. I recommend bringing a good set of earplugs - but this of course is true for other venues as well!

Perfect location, right in heart of Madrid. all the attractions within the walking distance. 3 cafes to choose for breakfast, we have tried two, the first one was excellent, however a bit disappointed with the second one. Overall great weekend away in Spain!

The room was nice and clean. The only minus would be that you could hear literally everything, like a neighbor singing in the morning. One of the restaurants for breakfast was a bit disappointing as we wanted to try the Spanish omlette but there was no chef so we had to go just for normal toasts.

Staff very welcoming & helpful, place was clean and centrally located . The single economy room was small (as indicated in the ad) but really sufficient for 1 person for a couple of nights. Would stay again:). However, if for whatever reason you struggle with walking/climbing/got mobility issues the stairs, stay elsewhere as the property has quite a few steep stairs.

Thin walls. Thankfully the guy stopped talking early enough but you could hear clearly every single word.

Comfortable and very clean room, plenty of space. Nice area, not too far from a metro station.

The host is not based at the guest house. All communication by What’s App, and very clear once we had it, but I had not realised I needed to join a WhatsApp group as well as communicate through the app so we didn’t get the information until after we arrived and could not get in. Just a generation thing perhaps? Breakfast is not provided at the accommodation, it’s in a little cafe close by and not particularly good. We had not been left a voucher and the owner was cross and made us feel terrible uncomfortable. It was sorted by a message and phone call.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent and the room was attractive, clean and comfortable. The WiFi worked well and so did the air conditioning. We were able to have access to our room sooner than expected and there was no problem in leaving our bags at the guesthouse until 8pm in the last day, so we didn't have to lug them around with us. Very convenient.

Nothing really, apart from being woken in the early morning by the emergency light in the room coming on for no reason.

Perfect location. The rooms and common areas are new, modenn, nice and clean, definitely with style. Very nice, spacious bathroom.

A few issues, which make the stay uncomfortable. Even the superior room is very tiny. No natural light in the room as the window looks onto a dark 2x2m inside patio. Insuficient ligh in the bathroom: the only well-lit object is the toilet, only dark bulb by the mirror, make-up is impossible. Coffe and tea in the corridor, but no tea-cups, just tiny paper espresso cups, so the tea is useless. Shower drain clogged, water flows onto the floor. The air conditioning set on maximum heating, not possible to change it, you can only turn it off or on.

the location was perfect, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the bathrooms was modern. the room was super tiny, which we knew, but there was really no space to move. It was ok for us because we would only spend 1 night and left early the next day to fly back home, but for a longer stay i would recommend either a bigger room or a different place. i liked the common area with coffe and the staff was super friendly and helpful

the wifi did not work at all. i don't know if it was our room or the entire premise, but it would not work. thankfully we had already done what we needed to prep for our flight home ahead of time, or it would have been miserable and/or expensive to do it without wifi and international roaming charges.
