The Connaught

Great location on Hong Kong Island with amazing views. The apartment was huge with excellent lighting and air conditioning. A shared laundry on a separate floor was free to use and a great convenience to us after spending 5 days in Taipei beforehand.

I emailed the property twice prior to book an additional night however did not receive a response. I ended up making a new reservation rather than extending my original booking and the staff did not see the extra night when we checked in. It was luckily not an issue. The refrigerator was not cleaned out from the previous occupants and there was smelly old spilled milk inside.

Extremely spacious room that offers a marvellous view of the harbour. The windows were cleaned after my previous stay, so the experience of enjoying the view was much better. Checking-in and out was smooth. Internet connection stable. Private lift lobby at each level.

My dog did not join me for the stay since this hotel is not pet-friendly. Nevertheless, I heard a dog barking from the adjacent room when I was leaving. Perhaps the guest smuggled the dog in or obtained special permission, but it would have been nice if the hotel allows pets.

Enormous suite and a magnificent view of the harbour from a high floor. Only two rooms per level with a separate lift lobby for each, so there wasn't any noise disturbance.

The glass window was too dirty and kinda spoilt the view a little. It would have been nice if they allowed pets.

1. No cleaning service except taking out the trash bags on Sunday due to the public holiday rules. It's ok for us but a notification about it should be added on the booking page. 2. I was looking for an Airbnb style hotel with a washing machine and a dryer in each unit in Hong Kong before my trip. So I asked the property about it by sending messages via Booking, because only "dryer" was mentioned as one facility in the kitchen area on the property booking page, and I wasn't sure about whether it referred to "hair dryer" or other stuff. However I never got the answers from the property and in fact the laundry room was shared. I'd cancel my booking if knew it before my travel.

Hotel didn't reflect photos. Space accurate but age difficult to tell and it was quite old. Location was quite a shock as it was in a downmarket part of Central and difficult to find restaurants open when we arrived at 8.45 pm.

Location as we had to spend a considerable amount on transport to get us to central part of Central district in Hong Kong.

The space is big enough and relaxing. I’d say you’ll feel you’re at home not in a room.

Although I paid before I check in, and there was only one customer (me) at the front desk, it still took more time to check in than I expected. Actually no lobby for guests. There is a space and some decorations but ppl are not allowed to enter. They don’t offer soap in the wash room. （maybe they should have said it in advance) (But thank God toilet paper is ready to use.) The receptionist tried to get me a soap when I asked him. Then he told me I can put the trash outside the door and they will take the garbage away. I thought they don’t clean up the room everyday spontaneously (they will if you asked them to do so). The weather was extremely cold but they asked the guests to keep the air conditioner setting in a mode in order to avoid mold growth. I believe the mode was changed into warming up by the cleaning staff. Hence, finally I could stop shivering while I was in the room. However that was the last night I stayed there. No drinking water was provided. Honestly I expected to get more sweet service and higher quality with this price. Honestly I could book a small room from mandarinoriental with almost the same price.

I am still waiting get invoice from them- that is also your duty to make sure that happens. Not sure I will use booking.com again
