Jen Hong Kong by Shangri-La

The room was good size for Hong Kong (de luxe queen room). Metro station just one minute walk from the hotel. Location is at a residential area which is very quiet in the evening. Lots of shops, restaurants etc in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Hotel is older but is well maintained and has good cleanliness standard. 10 mins by taxi to the Airport Express

The escalator to the lobby didn't work during my 3-night stay. Guests must note that many of the shops and restaurants in the area close early; after 8 pm it is already very quiet. For late-night dinner, for example, it is necessary to get to the central Hong Kong.

The front desk staff were super nice! In particular Billy who helped with our check-in was very friendly. The hotel gifted us a bottle of wine for our celebration and it was quite a decent bottle. Price point was very good for the area. Walking distance to Sheung Wan (20mins) and if the weather is nice just keep going on to Central (30mins).

Unfortunately the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance during our stay. No biggie but it would have been nice to get rooftop access even though the pool was being cleaned as the weather was great.

- Location: 1 min walk to MTR exit. Near Kennedy Town / Por Kei / Sek Tong Tsui market. Also walking distance to Sai Ying Pun which is full of interesting options of restaurants. Sheung Wan and Central is just 3-4 stations away - facilities: Harbour view is great. - Comfort: bed and pillow is comfortable, bottled water is free to refill. - Clean: room make up is good, smells good and feel fresh each time - Staffs: Jason was very helpful and friendly when we checked in. Ian also made sure we stayed till taxi arrived upon check out as it was early morning, still dark. He also ushered us to taxi and carried our luggage for us.

Excellent location, great views, professional staff! We were in town for a wedding, and we stayed at Jen hotel on the recommendation of another friend who lives near there. The location is very close to HKU. It's right next to an MTR stop, which was super convenient for getting to the wedding and other locations. Additionally, we were able to take the bus (and trolley) very conveniently to and from the hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and had the beautiful ocean view that we booked. The hotel even offered us a complimentary loan of a converter, which was helpful for charging our devices (although if I remember correctly they also had USB plugs and a lot of cords already in the room, which was very helpful). We didn't book the breakfast package, so can't comment on that. But there's lots of bakeries, restaurants, and diners nearby that area, so we took advantage of the neighborhood offerings. Rooftop pool was beautiful and even had lane swimming, but it was a little too cold for us to go for a dip later in the day (early December).

The price per night is slightly high, but it's still probably competitive for hotels in HK. I would have liked to use some of my credit card points for the booking but I couldn't find them on my rewards website. More points programs, please! But no real complaints.

I had a brilliant stay at Jen, the room was small but yet spacious enough to do everything that I needed to do. We had twin beds, my friend and I, and we spent nights chit chatting in the cosiness of the room. What I really enjoyed was the view to the expressway, which gave such an iconic HK vibe, and my friend and I spent hours taking Timelapse videos of! The room was superbly clean, and the toilet was surprisingly spacious! I would really love to come back for a longer stay, and maybe explore the hotel a little more. The hotel was situated nicely next to McDonald’s and supermarkets, and about 10 mins walk to the nearest MTR. Convenient to take buses, trams and trains, you’d be spoilt for transport choices. It was also closely situated to the AirPort Express bus stop.

LOCATION I am a Hong Konger, it was a Staycation deal. I enjoyed my stay very much. All the old-world charm in the neighbourhood made me a “tourist” myself. The harbour front! The Bridge view. The ultra modern swimming pool building. The tram ride. Something closer: right outside the hotel, you have the flyover (Hill Road) meandering right on top of you. The portion of Queen’s Road West is intriguing. Mind you, if you are the faint hearted: there is a shop selling snake and snake wine. Stay away from the sign that reads 蛇酒 or 蛇. Hop onto a tram, enjoy a ride or two. Take the tram to Kennedy Town to enjoy the sunset on the harbourfront. Watch the sea water splashing onto the land on Davis Street. Return on foot. SURVIVAL need & gastronomic delight Not everybody has an interest in Asian cultures or Asian cities. Not everybody is adventurous. You will be here in HK for a day or two probably because of a stopover in between a super long flight from Australia to Europe, or business need. Right, good news to you if you pick JEN. Right next to the hotel, there is L’AZUR Gourmet that has a good stock of western foodstuffs and alcoholic drinks. Once you get over your jetlag, you may spend some time at the Kennedy Town harbourfront which is dotted with western eateries, bars and a café or two. Before you can, L’AZUR is your saviour. Hotel ROOM Honest photos on Booking dot com. I got what I saw. No complaint. Just one point to note: the open plan bathroom design. Fine if you are a solo traveller like me or a couple. Think twice if you are with a friend or colleague. By open plan, I mean the hand basin where you brush your teeth, shaving or blow dry your hair is part of the room, not hidden in a bathroom. There are two cubicles, one for the toilet bowl and one for shower. Having said that, there is a sliding partition wall with which you can separate the three from the area with bed(s), a desk and the window. THANK YOU.

my room had a view of the HK harbor so I cant really complain. the staff were really helpful and courteous. they also took extra effort to ensure everything was OK. the room also had everything needed for connectivity. the place is something like a university town with HKUniversity nearby. it's a bonus that there are a lot of restos that are good for a student's budget. which is a privilege in high priced HK

there was no laundry bag ; nor bathrobe. which was odd since the Jen hotel in SG had those. I was expecting those as standard items.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The location was perfect, close to the MTR and at walking distance to many places, the harbour, the promenade, markets, restaurants, etc. The room was quiet, spacious and had everything we needed. The hotel facilities looked great, the pool and the the gym, even though we didn't have time to use them.

On the second day, the AC stopped working for some reason and this couldn't be repaired during our stay, so it was a bit hot inside the room. The hotel staff offered me to change the room but we didn't want to move so we stayed. It was not too bad, but it was perfect when the AC was working.

Staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful. Room is small but well laid-out and great view. Swimming pool and Gym a bonus. Location is great for access to Kennedy Town area and close to MTR for other areas. Standard has remained consistently high over a number of years.

I opted not to book a room with breakfast included but did decide to pay for breakfast anyway the first morning. The buffet was disappointing (limited choice, cold 'hot' food and poor coffee options) and I had three different members of staff come over to my table in 15 minutes to reiterate that I would need to pay separately as It wasn't included in my room (I already knew this!). It was also very expensive at approx. 250 HKD... not a great experience which is a shame because the rest of the hotel is so good. I don't mind paying over the odds as I had booked a cheaper room rate but felt like this was a bit cheeky. I got breakfast at one of the lovely cafes nearby for the rest of my stay.

Perfect location for us on the Hong Kong side right next to the HKU MTR stop, so it took less than 10mins to Central and only a little longer to Causeway Bay, Wan Chai etc. The room was clean, good amount of space, liked the sofa next to the window, had a good small fridge if you wanted to store any drinks or snacks, and good aircon. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming! A surprise for us was a delicious strawberry tart the hotel staff left for us in our fridge on my birthday - we hadn’t mentioned it, they must have just seen my birthday on my passport when checking in. A very lovely touch 😄 We would definitely stay there again!
