Hôtel Carré Vieux Port

The location couldn't be better. Round the corner to the port where there's an excellent bistro OM which does breakfast and lunch and dinner. Beds large and comfortable. Shower room well designed. Hot water. Aircon reversible to heat. Staff were as friendly and helpful as last time except the young guy at the desk at 9 PM said to drink from the tap when we asked for more water in our room. Very unlike our experience in September. Apart from him, all the others were excellent.

Can't find fault in what is a nicely managed hotel in such a perfect location for the port. Room size par for the course in this area.

Perfect location, right in the midst of Vieux Port, metro stop and bus stop a few steps from the hotel, restaurants and bars around, prime location for tourist attractions spots (Le Panier, the MUCEM, the fort, palais of Pharoh, boat cruises etc) all accessible by foot. Also, room service every day, this I did not expect based on the current trends in most hotels.

Room a bit on the small side for the amount - just enough room to manoeuvre around the bed, desk very tiny and impractical -, but for where the hotel is located, high prices not a shock, this is to be expected. The shower head flow was restricted, half the orifices were blocked (don't know if this was by design - water saving measure - or a faulty shower head).

The room was very nice. It had everything we needed and we were only there at night so it was perfect. Location was perfect. Just on the edge of the port and seemed safe. We really enjoyed it here and would recommend it to other travellers. Breakfast was also great. I eat a lot and it definitely catered for that.

Don’t have anything bad to say. A recommendation might be to provide directions from certain hubs like the airport or train station. We walked from the train station which took some time and we could’ve got on the underground for two stops and been there in 5 minutes.

Unrivalled location in the heart of Marseille, a stone’s throw from the port and downtown shops, bars and eateries. Plenty of options for a cafe breakfast or a boulangerie on the square just outside. Staff were really friendly and helpful, easy check in, triple room had plenty of space, while double rooms were tight but still enough to open a suitcase each side of the bed.

In one of our rooms the air conditioning left a little to be desired. Hard to manage in the 30 degrees heat in September. A bit hit and miss because in the other two the air con was fantastic!

The hotel is in a great location near the old port and very convenient for the centre of the city and metro trams etc. Also close to terminals for boat trips to the islands and calanques. Staff very helpful and welcoming and sorted out the twin beds. Being able to drop bags behind the reception was helpful. Breakfast was good and as much as you wanted to eat and drink although being able to eat outside meant a bit of a journey through the hotel to the ground floor. It was just what we needed for our overnight stay and would be good base for a short stay in Marseille.

The room was quite small which was not a problem for us but if you were staying longer it might be a bit restricting. We couldn’t see/ find a sitting area so apologies if there was one we didn’t find but if you were on a longer stay and in view of the small rooms somewhere to sit with quietly with coffee etc would be good as Marseilles was very crowded (rugby World Cup weekend) and places to sit and relax were in short supply.

everything was excellent, i stayed in room 315 i loved modern super clean everyday, the location in the heart of the port , shops around u bars , restaurants .....the hotel super clean , my flight was cancelled, then we rebooked another room with balcony 505, was not the best like 315 but its super clean big and has balcony , the reception -stuff super friendly Leah so great and supportive also the rest of the team , i asked for some milk and they did give me more milk and sugar and more tea,, Thank you so much I highly recommend the hotel , super good , love it :)

room 505 need to be more modern

Location was excellent, right on the doorstep of the Old Port, within walking distance of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, shops etc. Spacious lobby and handy to have 24-hour reception. Our room had a balcony with good views of the port. Tourist office located nearby and also stops for sightseeing bus tours and small train to Notre Dame Cathedral on the hill! Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold food, fruits, juices, tea and coffee, enjoyed in the relaxed atmosphere of a very spacious and bright breakfast dining room each morning, providing a great start to the day! Staff at front desk and breakfast room were all very pleasant.

Only downside to our three-night stay was the small room size and the bathroom was tiny - the smallest I've ever seen. It was advertised as a large double room with balcony, but I would not consider the rooms on the fifth floor to be large - however, it was saved by having balcony providing chairs and table in which to relax over a coffee or glass of wine after long day of sightseeing.

Overall comfortable and very centrally located, near the port. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we were even given an upgrade as it was my birthday and they had a spare room. We were able to leave our bags safely for free the day we left so we could do some sightseeing and when we left we explained we had been broken into in the nearby underground parking (parking Charles de Gaulle) and the receptionist gave us a voucher for 20% off our parking fee. We will definitely come back, but will think about where we park next time.

The room was comfortable but a bit dark and surprisingly small, despite being an upgrade, and the shower didn't have a door so the water easily flooded into the bathroom area. It also appears that quite a few people, including us, have had their car broken into overnight in the nearby underground parking (parking Charles de Gaulle) so perhaps guests could be pre-warned about this.

Very good location - you're near metro station, tram station, gare, and old port. Very helpfull staff, special thanks for the women from Georgia(unfortunatelly don't remember the name), she tried to help us with our questions. Normal breakfast Modern TV in the room, you can connect your phone or PC via wireless network to it.

It is very strange that the more expensive rooms overlook the courtyard, which has hoods that are buzzing. plus the almost complete lack of sunlight, especially on the lower floors. We've decided to downgrade to a cheaper room category, it had a view of the street and the room itself was nicer. Its only drawback is the location of the toilet, if your height is more than 150 cm you cannot sit on it straight, it is located almost close to the wall. Little bit noisy at the night from the street, but it the price for location

Staff excellent. Location one street back from Vieux Port amazing. So easy to stroll out and experience the rich culture all around, get boat trips etc.

Room too small. Photos made it look bigger than reality. Staff very good when we asked if there was a larger room available, and they sorted out a change for a bit extra money. Breakfast room rather small when hotel fully occupied but offset by having a pleasant sitting area to have breakfast outside the front of the hotel.
