Hôtel Montmorency & Spa

The location was fantastic, could not be better. Just a short walk over the road to the medieval city and a lovely view from the breakfast area. The grounds are well kept and the pool was very private. Staff service around the pool is very good. The rooms are tidy and are big enough for what we needed - a base to sleep and change.

The hallway and room decor is very ‘out there’, a little too colourful. The decor in the main reception and bar is lovely but the rooms don’t match. Need another mirror in the room. Only one mirror in the bathroom which meant that you couldn’t get ready whilst someone was in the shower because of the steam. Also meant you were on top of one another as had to share the one mirror.

THE HOTEL | An impressive approach to the hotel as we arrived and saw the hotel for the first time. We loved the gardens, the bar - the chill-out music, (I Shazamed nearly every song♡). The interior was definitely x4 star. THE POOL | The swimming pool area was lovely, the Jacuzzi was the heat of a hot bath. The intercom at the pool to connect you to the hotel was a wonderful concept. We chose the right times when the pool area was unpopulated, which was perfect, and ordered alcoholic beverages to drink in the sun. THE ROOM | Our room was lovely, well equipped, but sadly didn't have any outdoor space as we we're on the 1st floor. THE LOCATION | WOW! Couldn't fault it. Sitting in the hotel garden and seeing the Cite illuminated was beautiful and a short 2 minute walk into the castle itself. THE CITE | What a beautiful medieval setting, walk all around and you'll get to the Wine Bars which were all 100% beautiful. THE AIRPORT | A 10-12 minute trip under €20 no need to hire a car here, we walked approximately 12,000 steps every day. Flights from BOH. Mondays & Fridays. Ideal for a week or so, or a short break. THE (road) TRAIN | Walk out of the hotel and turn left out of the hotel, go up the hill, will take you all around Carcassonne Town and will save your legs! THE RIVER | A real wildlife treat, to see birds, ducks and other wildlife ♡. To get to it, from the hotel, cross over the road towards the car park and follow the pavement and you'll come into the town, keep walking and you'll come to the bridge. Go over the bridge to get wonderful photos and to get into Carcassonne itself. THE STAFF | We can only score 10/10 for the lovely staff here. We don't speak French so they did their best to converse in English. Bar staff and house-keeping we're all smiles and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you all. ♡♡♡ HOLIDAY SCORE | 95% ♡♡♡

The 5% we didn't rave about. 1. No full length mirror in the room, us ladies like to see the end result ♡ & lighting at the end of the room could have been beneficial. 2. Continental Breakfast with no other option was a no-no. And at €18 per head was far too expensive.

The location is perfect! So close to the castle. And a lovely walk to the town centre! The pool was lovely! And great after a day out in the heat. Our room was lovely and very peaceful surroundings. Staff are lovely and helpful

We would of loved a kettle and coffee machine in the room!! And maybe a small fridge! Also we got charged extra for breakfast one day when we didn’t have it. So when you check in they ask if you would like breakfast for your stay we said yes but didn’t have it one day but still got charged. And it was quite expensive for what you got also.

Location was amazing! They have a hotel dog who is quiet and doesn't come up to you (if you're scared of dogs) - which I loved having a dog there, fell in love with him. Staff are friendly and helpful

Pool is good but the big beds get bird poo on a lot as way above there is a electricity cable that they sit on (which can't be helped) - so I'd avoid those beds. My towel got poo'd whilst I was (luckily) in the pool. We chose a basic room and it was very small but it was completely fine, only in hindsight I'd prefer a bit more space but it was what I booked.

The hotel has a perfect setting looking onto the Cité. Surpassed our expectation. We loved having breakfast out on the terrace, or a drink looking onto the Cité after having dinner out. Our room opened onto a garden and seating area which was perfect. Staff were lovely. Pool was also great and relaxing.

I think, to be picky, the décor of the rooms is a bit bright/maybe needs updated - the rest of the hotel is very stylish and smart though. Our room had everything we needed though and the terrace/garden was a great perk.

the hotel is in a fantastic location, situated just outside the castle walls. The pool is fabulous, it’s outside but heated beautifully so you can comfortably swim and the surrounding garden is lovely. the beds were quite comfortable and the outside courtyard with chairs and table was a nice touch. staff are very friendly.

the rooms are a little small and there is no kettle or coffee/tea station in the room. we needed to ask the bar for some boiled water for our baby’s bottle. there a few codes to remember to get into certain doors in the hotel but it didn’t ruin our stay.

Lovely stay...the facilities of the Chateau Hotel are excellent ..view up to the old city the terrace area and pool area and breakfast was amazing. We stayed in rooms in annexe but very nice with large comfy bed and lovely terrace area.

Hairdryer in room only worked for the first day and when we tried to report it wasn't working 3 times with reception staff they weren't really interested and didn't help us...unacceptable as any lady staying in a hotel will agree! Young hotel reception staff pleasant but no substance the only good reception staff was the older man on duty one night who was excellent. Oh and you are not allowed to have the heated towel rail on at this time of year. God the owners must be really hard up!

Very good breakfast, good bed and bedding Not happy no full length mirrors in the whole hotel !!!!! also the wardrobe is for men not women with dresses so I had to hang 3 dresses in the bathroom the whole time and hope they did not get splashed with water! The location of the hotel is great I was told I was not allowed by the pool before 10am when I was only sunbathing while ready a book. therefore on my last day I had planned to sunbath for 2 hours before going to the airport but this was not allowed Early morning and late on in the day are the only times you can sit in the sun as it was so hot so that is not acceptable really. i do think there may not be enough staff at the hotel as they were all so busy room service was refused a few times as they were to busy and pool service was either great or not at all. In general it was a great week and I did like the hotel and location and would go back

see above Plus I really think there is a massive problem when you cannot even get nuts or olives with your drinks no snacks available of any kind in the hotel that is crazy when things are closed and you are hungry between meals. So if you ordered a Martini it would not come with an olive!

The location at the foot of the Medieval Cite was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The Hotel Montmerency rooms are located in a separate building, which is very close and secure. The rooms are on the small side with quite dramatic decor but are clean and comfortable, and ours had patio and garden. The bar area overlooks the Old city and is a beautiful place to have a drink. The pool is also lovely.

Location is perfect, within a very short walking distance of the Medieval City. Staff were lovely. The bar area was chilled and the drinks were great. Love that there is a bath. The pool is also great. Stunning location. Great view of the Medieval City.

The yellow room, a little claustrophobic though I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I have stayed previously in the green suite and an orange room and loved them and had a balcony and a terrace, I like outdoor space.
