Hotel Port-Royal

Old Quebec City is just the right amount of beauty, serenity, traditional, a hearty amount of Canadian-French history and steps. Yes. A lot of steps. Prepare to walk a lot if you want to enjoy this part of the city! The hotel was right at the perfect place from the bus station - Gare du Palais. There are really nice restaurants right outside the hotel. The hotel itself looks like it was built out of an old tiny castle. They preserved the style and I loved it! The checkin was flawless - we were presented with all the information required. We also got a super nice room that overlooks the La Vivrière. I couldn't get enough of the views from our windows. Our room had a small radio that played beautiful French piano music as we entered. We loved it so much that we kinda listened to that radio all the time we were in the Hotel. Old Quebec is very pretty and the hotel does justice by serving the most delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner...the French style! We went during the summer and we loved walking the cobbled streets from Quartier Petit Champlain to Le Château Frontenac to La Citadelle de Québec. The price was a bit on the higher side but I think the views and the facilities did justice to it. I don't think you get room service...or maybe you do...I never tried :) This place definitely deserves multiple visits and Port Royal will be my choice for sure

There was nothing that bothered us really. If I'm nitpicking, I'd say the room size could've been a bit larger

The room was spacious for a family of 3 and very comfortable. There was only one working light in the bathroom, so it was challenging to see at times. The location was superb, with lots of shops and restaurants in close walking proximity. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There was also parking on site, which is rare, so convenient!

I didn't like that there was a man smoking in the entryway to the building across from the main hotel, where we were staying. He had all of his luggage (4 bags) on the steps and made no effort to move to accommodate us entering the building (in the pouring rain). He was blowing smoke in our faces, gross!

The room was beautiful. I love the stone walls. It was the first time I stayed in a Hotel room without carpet and I LOVED it. I never understood why Hotels use carpet in rooms. I also really appreciated the little kitchen in the room.

I wish the hotel had room service. They want you to deal with the restaurant and we were assured we could have our meals in our room. We ordered our dinner from the restaurant and they delivered it to us, but the next morning they refused to deliver breakfast to our room because they were busy. Fair enough, so we decided to eat at the restaurant and it was dead. Really dead.

The hotel's proximity to public transportation also made it convenient for exploring the surrounding areas. The staff at Hotel Port Royal deserves a special mention. From the receptionists to the housekeeping team, everyone was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. They were always ready to assist with any requests or provide helpful recommendations about local sights and activities. The room I stayed in was spacious, elegantly decorated, and meticulously clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a good night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The amenities provided were of high quality, including a well-stocked Kitchenette, a coffee maker, and a modern bathroom with luxurious toiletries. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel's dining options. The on-site restaurant offered a delectable selection. The attentive staff ensured a pleasant dining experience, catering to dietary restrictions and preferences. MOST IMPORTANTLY...I did all this with my pup! Its was such a pleasure to have our little pup with us and he was welcomed everywhere. The moment we sat outside, someone would come and put a bowl of water for him. So amazing! In terms of value for money, Hotel Port Royal exceeded my expectations. The level of service, coupled with the quality of amenities and facilities, made it a worthwhile investment for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We Love the location as it is accessible to most everything like restaurant, convenient store, and walkable to many tourist spots. Room is nice, clean and with exceptionally comfortable bed. Staff are friendly and bi-lingual (Thankfully as we do not speak french!😊). * Booked for Deluxe king room - 308(with Kitchenette)*

Aircon seems not working at all. Although the weather that time is cold and my husband is sick so its okay not to use the aircon. However, It would be nicer if AC is working. In addition, the room seems not a sound proof as we can hear screaming kids and outside noise. Parking located just in-front of hotel vicinity but chargeable( even off-peak season) Which is not normal To many hotels and As previous travel agent here and loves to travel in different country.

We booked this hotel mainly for the location. It was near where our cruise ship docked and also near lower Old Town Quebec. Our room had a kitchenette and was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The front desk staff were excellent. We arrived before check in and asked to have our luggage held. Our luggage was waiting in our rooms when we checked in later. The staff were helpful with maps, taxis, and restaurant suggestions. The restaurant Louis in the hotel serves a delightful French breakfast which we reserved for the next morning.

The location is perfect. The hotel is an old building but renovated in a good way. We stayed for one night and everything was absolutely lovely. I knew about the noise from downstairs so I asked for a room on higher floor which also had a good view over the street where people were dancing till midnight. Enjoyed it very much.

Nothing in our short trip. Maybe just the limited capacity of the parking (we could easily find a spot around check-in time, but in the evening, we decided not to bring the car to browse the city as we could lose our parking space)

Excellent location. The staff are amazing. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We really enjoyed having the mini kitchen to make our own breakfast. So handy to have a safe in the room. We had a lovely view to the street side. We felt that we had made the perfect choice. It truly had the Quebec charm we were looking for.

Our room could have had a little more closet space. Not enough space to hang dresses and ironed dress shirts. Paint could use a little touching up.

Great location outside walls in Old Quebec. Easy walk to Gare Palais for train or bus. Old Port and many nice streets with shops and restaurants just a short flat walk. Funicular very close to get up to the top of city. Hotel is a nice renovated older building with all modern amenities. Room was very large and comfortable. Had kitchenette and small table. Bed very nice as well as large bath with heated floors. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We based our stay on other reviews and they were spot on. Highly recommend this hotel.

There was a fine dining restaurant on property that was fantastic for full meals. Would have appreciated the ability to get a nice pastry or small breakfast to not have to leave property.

your room was excellent royal suite beds are so comfy and the bathroom amazing location was close to everything we even had a gas station a block away lots of restaurants close by if I could I would go back tomorrow Louise tavern-bar the food was excellent friendly people

I really don't have any dislikes its like being in Europe small elevator but when you push the elevator button its there only thing was I had to walk across the street for break feast so you have to dress warm to go out to the restaurant
