Hotel Maison du Général

Loved the building....it had character...loved it! Our room one wall had the old brick....the bed was very comfortable, large tv, updated bathroom. The breakfast that we got each morning (next door) was great and the the restaurant help was wonderful ! Great location ... you could walk all over Quebec Old Town!

We had room #3 which was very small (it worked for the two of us....not much room with your luggage etc). Small winding stairs to get to our room (we were on the 2nd floor... no elevators which we were aware of.....no problem for us). We did have a issue as we had a late check in (after 10:00 p.m.) and had some confusion.....it was taken care of the next day !

Great location! When you stay here you are staying right in the heart of Old Quebec City, but far enough away to avoid being kept up by the late festivities. It is only a five-minute walk to the water, and although safely tucked off the street, it is easily accessed. The room I had was quite cozy, and I loved the exposed brick! Maybe I shouldn't have but the window in the room opened to a fire escape where I spent my night soaking in the street sounds.

The curtains didn't fully cover the exit sign inside the hotel room; therefore, my room was soaked in red all night. There is no elevator; be prepared to climb stairs; it is a skinny and curved stairwell with no visible rooms accessible on the first floor. Parking is not provided! However, there is a parking garage only a few minutes away - SPAQ Maison de Beaucours - for about $20 for the day and night.

The breakfast was served at the restaurant next door. It was excellent and with big portions. The location was very centrally located. Easy walking distance to main sights and attractions. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is a very small hotel with only 11 rooms, 2 on the main floor, 3 rooms on second and third floor and probably 3 on the fourth floor as well. We stayed in room 7 which is on the third floor. It doesn’t have an elevator so to get up to the floors, you’ll need to climb the spiral staircase.

We could hear people talking at night so soundproof needs to be worked on.

The room had old world character with a beautiful brick wall. It was tidy and had everything we needed though it was a bit small. We were grateful that the hotel was able to provide us an overnight parking spot at a reasonable price. The free breakfast at Sagamite Resraurant was delicious and the service was excellent. The location was amazing - within minutes of all the key sights and yummy food options.

Finding a spot to park while we checked in was very challenging. The room was small but its charm made up for it.

The location was great as it is located right on Rue ST. Louis (Grand Allee). The room was clean .

The room was very small and showed a lot of signs of wear eg. chipped paint, receiver for TV remote broken etc. It would also be nice if the hotel gave more explicit directions to nearby parking (Halimande Street) for guest before they arrive.

Location was incredible, coffee and tea was nice, price was worth it, doors open to outdoor balcony was cute.

Side table was dusty, telephone wasn’t working even after connecting the line, toilet paper isn’t as bad but better quality would have been appreciated. Nothing at the point for us to not come back, it was good and we would go back if ever.

Great location, nice and close to all old Quebec sights and restaurants. The room came with breakfast, which was at the restaurant next door. the meal was super good and worth it.

It didn’t bother me but you have to walk up many stairs to the rooms, elderly or handicapped could find this very difficult

The hotel is right in the middle of the old city, it’s walking distance to a lot of sights. They also offer a small selection for breakfast at their restaurant, which is just next door. Very handy and great for a sightseeing trip in Quebec City

Room #11. I was very pleasantly surprised to see a small climb out balcony. I spent a few hours just sipping beer and enjoying the views of the street and foot traffic below. Lots of waves and "Oh hey look"! from below. Such a wonderful little gem of a room.

The climb with your baggage would be a bit rough for the elderly. Im a fit 51 yo, carrying my bags was ok for me.

It was a great location and a decent sized room with everything we need.

I wish the reception was open after 10pm and that there is housekeeping during the stay. We were there for a week and really would have appreciated a cleaning/tidying of the room while we were there.
