Hotel karel de stoute

Just a basic room. Location is very good. Breakfast seemed ok the first day. There is an abundance of free drinks and snacks at check in including beer. That was very thoughtful.

I didn't realise you could bring dogs and pets to your room. We were trying to sleep and the room next to us had a barking dog keeping us awake. It was horrific. The manager was speaking to the worker in the breakfast area about changing her contract and it was so loud everyone could hear it in the breakfast hall. She should speak to her in private about these matters. The second day many things were amiss in our room after cleaning. My wife's pillow was gone and her toothbrush was gone. THe second night there was a strong marijuana smell in the hallway and the breakfast was empty and not refilled on the second day.

Perfect Hotel for Bruge city break. Within 5 minutes easy walk of the main square but on a quiet street. The bedroom is very large with lovely beamed ceiling and modern decoration. Facilities are also to a high standard. Would definitely visit again.

Charming little hotel (9 rooms) about a ten minute walk from the city centre. It was close to all the attractions, but far enough away that nights were quiet. It's also quite close to one of the canals, which was a pleasant way to walk. The breakfast was outstanding with lots of options. The woman who laid it out each morning was so kind and friendly. Our room was modest but very clean. It had a huge window that faced the tower in the town square. We loved this reasonably priced little room in such a beautiful city.

There's no elevator - it wasn't a problem, but would be if you have mobility issues.

The breakfast was good, everything you could expect at this rate. Tea, coffee, smoked salmon, Cheeses, yoghurt, honey peanut butter, jam and fruits. The staff are helpful. The free snacks and drinks by the reception was also a very nice gesture.

The hotel offers no parking place nearby which is a bit inconvenient to park 800 meters away and you have to move the car around because you are not allowed to park more than 4 continuous hours in the day time.

Great location - very close to the central markets but on a quiet back street. Room was surprisingly large, the bathroom modern and clean; our mattresses very comfortable; happy with breakfast options; Reception staff helpful.

Only one pillow per bed and no extra bedding available in the room. I am sure it would have been supplied should I have asked, but it was late at night when I realised. The overall feel of the place is that it was once quite an artistic and eclectically decorated place with a lot of character. Now things feel a bit neglected and chaotic, e.g. clutter on the reception desk and in the dining area. I would have someone come in to hang the art properly, shift things round so it feels a bit more loved and thought about and clean up some of the clutter. This would shift the Karel du Stoute from a conveniently located and comfortable budget stay to a bit of a gem, actually.

The location and some details of the reuse of an historic building. The breakfast was very good and the room large and with nice view. Staff very kind and ready to help. Free chocolates and drinks at the reception was a nice discovery.

I think that the design could be improved, especially in rearranging the disposition of rooms. The bathroom was large but not fully comfortable due to a not clever design by the architect.

- very spacious room with excellent faciilties - got some complinentary items like some water, crisps, sweets, etc - very lovely surprise - the owner was very helpful and called taxi when we could not get an Uber

- Breakfast: I expected better. They served continental breakfast with bread, croissants and some fuit. But very little was left when we got down (but the owner did go out and got us some bread). - Uber had no cars available to take us back to train station for return journey.

Breakfast was okay. Good selection of cheese, ham, fruit. Help yourself and unlimited. The host were good, let you get on with it as you have a key to enter the main door. There is a fully stocked fridge with soft drinks, beer and water which is free, as well as snacks and lots of chocolates at the front desk!

Great location. Just minutes away from the centre and there are plenty of shopping opportunities (including restaurants, bars and pastries) within walking distance. Besides that it's on a pretty quiet street. There are plenty of options at breakfast. Free chocolate, snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day at the reception. Although I stayed in a Budget room, it was quite spacious and comfortable.
