The Lincoln Hotel

location was perfect for the places we wanted to visit, eg cathedral and castle. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially on the one occasion when the lift failed to work. Breakfasts were really good, and there was an excellent choice of healthy and not so healthy. Room kept clean and tidy everyday.

My only fault was that we paid for balcony that we could not really use eg no chairs. There were 3 wedding parties during our stay where with one of them there was an altercation with two of the guests where vulgar language was used. I found this a little disrespectful and had to move from the balcony and close the door. Other small things like no bedside sockets and would have liked a walk in shower.

Excellent location next to Cathedral. Friendly staff. Nice comfortable bed. Stylish decor. .

Bedroom and bathroom could have been slightly cleaner. We were disappointed there was no mirror in the bedroom. Decor was nice but furniture was chipped and a little shabby. Bathroom was very cold and floor tiles were cold and slippery.

The friendly welcome at the new check in desk, on the level with the car park. Much better and easier. Our room was clean and bright as was the bathroom. We did not have breakfast during our stay this time, but enjoyed a quiet civilised drink in the bar/lounge in the evenings; sitting by the lovely large windows over looking the cathedral, which is why we choose The Lincoln. We like to stay here for the location, which is a short walk to Bailgate, where there is a host of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. This is handy for anyone who has mobility issues and cannot walk far. There is also the choice of more at the top end of Steep Hill, but walking down can exert the most fittest person, walking back up can be much more difficult. We have in the past used the little nipper bus service, but did not see it this time, as due to Covid, some things are different. Also an ideal location for visiting the Cathedral and Castle. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful when needed. Communal areas are always spotlessly clean and easy to navigate.

We were hoping to eat in the Green Room Restaurant, on the Saturday evening, but the3 restaurant was closed and due to there being two large party events on, this was not not an option. The person who we spoke to was very apologetic and tied to help us get a reservation at another venue. Unfortunately, this too was fully booked. We thanked him and said we would explore and enquire elsewhere ourselves. This did not spoil our lovely evening and overall stay.

Room was a good size with comfortable beds. Fresh and clean bed linen and towels changed daily. Staff friendly. Welcome each morning at breakfast was excellent and the guy in charge managed the service very well. Breakfast was lovely- a buffet - none of this congealed stuff you normally get. Looked inviting and tasted great. Option to order from the kitchen too - I had eggs benedict with perfect poached eggs. Great selection. Bar area nicely decorated and comfortable. Great location opposite cathedral and close to great independent shops and places to eat. It's 60/70s building and needs tlc on outside but inside us lovely

Shower very powerful which was great but over bath so no matter what you did floor got wet - get rid and replace with walk in shower. Lovely outside seating area on lawn to front of hotel but dog walkers use it and school children walk across on mass as shortcut - higher wall and gates please 🙏

It is conveniently located and mostly pretty good. The bed was comfortable and a decent bathroom.

The cleaning staff did not seem to want to vary their strict schedule AT ALL. I asked them to come back in 30 minutes, which staff at every other hotel I have ever stayed in are always happy to do. They did not clean the room or even empty the bin. The next day I put the bin outside. It was emptied but again the room was not cleaned. Also notable that there were dust trailers on the ceiling in my room, which suggests that the cleaning is not the highest standard - and I found an abandoned garment in the gents public convenience.

Accessible room was ideally located for the lift and dining. Dining area gave excellent view of the cathedral. Accessible room was well appointed for our needs. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our requests - couldn’t fault them. The food was generally very good and a high standard.

Dining and communal areas joined together so it could be noisy at times. Getting a wheelchair between the bed and the dressing table was a bit tight. The lift is in need of a refurb and a bit tight for a wheelchair and another occupant. Parking may be restricted during very busy periods.

Very comfortable hotel. Ideal location fo exploring historical Lincoln - for example, the cathedral is 5 minutes walk, the castle is 7. The breakfasts and dinners are very good. Good parking available. Just leave the car and walk!

The hotel has a lovely reception room which is used for breakfast and for dinner. However, if there are six or less dining tables required, they are set up in the lounge bar. The view is equally as good as the reception/dining room, but as the tables are being situated between groups of people just having drinks in the the lounge bar, it lacks atmosphere somewhat.

The location of the hotel was ideal, a short walk to the Cathedral, Castle and various Roman remains, including the Newport Arch. Bailgate and it’s shops, pubs and restaurants was also near. The restaurant and breakfast room of the hotel had a fine view of the Cathedral. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

I stayed in a slightly older part of the hotel, where the corridors were gloomy and could have done with re-painting. My room was fine, though a little shabby in places (bits of paint missing etc), though this didn’t detract from my stay.

The room was a deluxe on the 3rd floor. It looked like the one pictured. Yes the view is that good. 1960s build allows for the large windows. Fridge, safe, comfy bed. P Shaped bath with shower over. Good storage. Patio doors to a narrow balcony. Parking £5 for the whole stay. Superb position. Good breakfast and Sunday lunch

Terrible cheap toilet roll, sometimes low water pressure to the toilet would have been less of a problem if there had been a toilet brush. lift can be unreliable but quickly sorted when there is a problem. Also found that a number of the customers were older and very wealthy and a few made unreasonable demands on the staff and were quite difficult to please. The staff were very accommodating and patient.

Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfasts excellent. Hotel location perfect for the sights that we wanted to visit. Good to have a secure car park on site.

A lot of the hotel generally looked a little shabby. Our toilet flush handle was difficult to use, the basin tap was extremely stiff, hot water took many, many minutes to come through every morning. Our room overlooked East Bight which was very noisy when people walked through talking, and especially when a lorry reversed early one morning and woke us up!
