The room was fabulous, we were very happy. Loved the bed, the decor and the bathroom especially. It was great to have the Nespresso coffee machine, especially as, sorry to say this, but the breakfast coffee was a bit ropey! The air con worked like a dream, which has not been our experience anywhere else recently. My Eggs Benedict for breakfast was divine. Unfortunately my husband's sausages in his full English had barely been introduced to the frying pan so had to back, but NEVER judge a place by one thing.

There was a staff member who seemed like a manager who was working on her laptop next to the check-in desk. I thought she was working there rather than in an office so she could keep an eye on guests however apparently not, as she gave us a good ignoring to on two different occasions. Very strange approach to customer service! Luckily anther lady arrived who was super helpful.

Got a genius discount which was great, I wouldn't want to pay full price as the hotel is no longer luxurious. Upgraded to the four poster depicted on booking.com, bathroom was beautiful, staff warm and welcoming, the hotel was designed by someone with a great eye for style and luxury

Has a general air of being run down. Standard of housekeeping not what you'd pay £150-£190 a night for. Dusty cobweb on the bedside lamp, bed sheet had a small stain, carpet looked marked up, curtains need rehanging. Has the potential to be amazing but needs someone with a keen eye for detail.

A historic house which has been tastefully renovated in the centre of town. Enough parking for residents and visitors and a garden at the rear. We had two deluxe rooms with very clean en-suite bathrooms, complete with all necessary complimentary products, towels and bathrobes. The beds were very comfortable and the furniture in the room good quality. There is a coffee machine with coffee pods and a kettle. Sachets of tea and coffee etc are provided. There is also a hairdryer and curler, iron and ironing board. We enjoyed a meal together on Saturday evening and as the menu is easily available in gluten free alternatives one of our party was delighted. The food is freshly cooked and well worth the wait and very filling. After two sharing starters and four main courses we could not manage dessert! The full English breakfast was exactly that, sausage, bacon, toast, two eggs (choice of scrambled, poached, boiled) tomato, baked beans, mushroom. Day visitors to the restaurant were celebrating family events and added to the atmosphere. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful, accommodating our requests and dealing efficiently with us.

Some small noise from traffic but we slept soundly.

The staff at this pub/hotel are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We met non-resident friends for dinner and it was excellent, we all enjoyed our meals. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of it. The bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. There is a good TV. The bathroom was huge and we had a lovely walk-in shower. There is aircon in the room (room 7), which for a pub is pretty unusual and very welcome.

There were no problems at all. The road is a little busy but it was not an issue for us.

My bridesmaids and I stayed here the night before my wedding, and I’m so so glad we did. On arrival they were amazing, I was upgraded to the best room in the hotel and the service which we received was absolutely stunning. We received a complimentary bottle of wine, the staff were so wonderful it was a the best start to my celebrations. We booked a garden booth which was just the best, was like a private party! I want to say a massive thank you to all that staff that assisted with the most special stay you were perfect in every way ♥️

Pure perfection no dislike!!!!

Lovely rooms with everything needed in a hotel room. Full lengths mirror, make up mirror on desk, iron and board a nice touch. Excellent shower. Great staff, lots of smiles, made our stay most enjoyable.

A little bit more attention from the cleaning team needed. Skirting boards dusty and carpets/floors throughout need a good hoover. However, it did not spoil our stay.

Superb room (we booked what was apparently the 'honeymoon suite' - the room was enormous and very tasteful, with many windows, a four poster bed, classy furnishings, and a gorgeous bathroom (the size of the other rooms inclusive of bathrooms), delightful staff (Dawn deserves particular mention), and the food was great. The staff were attentive, the dining room airy and bright, and the garden well kept.

The only thing was the bed - the mattress was very soft (probably to a number or people's liking, just too soft for me)

The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The shower room was exceptional and really gave the place the wow factor. The facilities were great, and a good selection of coffees/teas were on offer in the room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, I highly recommend the eggs benedict!

On our second morning the breakfast service was slow, the waiting staff weren't as pleasant or helpful and the breakfast wasn't quite to the same standard as the previous morning.

Photo on website is out of date and so I was pleasantly surprised as it has evidently undergone extensive refurbishment. I would describe Banyers as a restaurant with a hotel tacked on rather than the other way round. There is no conventional staffed reception/check in desk and I had to find someone at the bar to check us in. However, room was decorated to a high standard and very comfortable and clean as well as quiet and and warm. Bathroom was large and stocked with good toiletries. Good wifi. Restaurant offers very good range of food with interesting daily 'specials' and good wine selection. Breakfast was very good and we were able to choose whatever we wanted from an extensive menu of cooked food. Staff were all exceptionally good and helpful, far more so than many other places I have stayed in recently. No problems parking and no need to pre-book. If you are (like we were) in Royston to visit the Cave, it's just 50 yards away and actually I found lots of other interesting other things there to see (e.g. King James' Palace, Royston Stone). I have no hesitation in recommending Banyers either as hotel or to place to eat.

Don't expect to be able to contact the hotel on their listed landline telephone number. Now that I have seen the bar and restaurant at work, I understand why! I never got a reply after several attempts but they did respond to messages sent through the booking.com website.

The rooms were quirky cool and the shower was really good. Air con in 30 degree heat made me want to move in.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming but during dinner service the attention just dropped off and we had to wait half an hour for our mains to be cleared and asked if we wanted dessert. The. Ended up paying as we left.
