The beautiful design of the property and great care taken in renovation, tasteful and with no expense spared holding onto history by showing little tit bits of it's previous life. A beautiful printer, a lovely clock in the bar, cleverly decorated with pictures of headlines from previous editions that caught the nations interest. Staff throughout were friendly, polite and helpful. A smile goes a long way and their welcome seemed genuine. I asked for a quiet room with walk in shower and that is exactly what I got. My room and the bathroom were excellent, well equipped and very clean. Top marks. The public toilet near to the bar was beautifully decorated, in continuation of this theme. Meals were very good and reasonably priced. An upstairs seating gallery, again beautifully laid out, allowed one to sit out and enjoy the night air.

Personally, I have issues with duvets, especially in the summer months. The duvet was a little too warm and pillows a little firm. But I appreciate from previous hotels, I am in the minority.

Extremely comfortable hotel with a touch of history. The best in Coventry. 1. plenty of room 2. bed is big and comfortable 3. reasonable breakfast for a moderate price.

Glitch with the booking: 1. booking.com failed to charge my credit card properly. 2. my credit card company said they didn't reject the charge. they saw a charge with 0 amount 3. booking.com sent me a notification. I failed to read the email during my trip. 4. the booking was cancelled after 24 hours. when i tried to book again the price jumped up by 60 gbp. So in summary: 1. it is not exactly clear whether booking.com charged my card or telegraph did. both pointed to the other. 2. if a transaction fails, should make at least another attempt. 3. booking.com/telegraph was not willing to honor the original price. so I bear the cost of who-knows-what-went-wrong.

We arrived late at night (way past midnight actually) by coach (the coach station is 5 min from the hotel - an ideal place in the center of the city), the hotel entrance was already closed, but there were telephone number where to call and a very kind staff came quickly and let us in. We had a very clean and spacious enough twin room with private bathroom on the 3rd floor facing inner court. It was very quiet, well furnished and decorated with historical artefacts and prints from the past of the building which gave a special feeling. The bed was ultra comfortable and the shower had two different, convenient functioning heads. The room has a small niche for coffee and tea appliances - selected teas, coffees and chocolate, milk available for an early morning cup, as well as fridge, ironing board and a safe. A special notice for the very polite and courteous staff. Thank you, Telegraph Hotel, for maintaining such a high standard of hospitality.

Very minor indeed - the window does not open in this particular room but it has a well functioning conditioner - we used it at night.

The Telegraph is one of the most effortlessly elegent hotels I've ever stayed in, it's quite a gem somewhere like Coventry. I grew up in the city, so I remember the building when it was still housing the paper and I thought the attention to detail using the theme of the newspaper throughout the decor and paperwork to be really lovely. The basic room we paid for was beautiful and stylish and there wasn't a single item of furniture or decor in the entire building that I didn't love. I would say there's no other hotel to stay at in Coventry.

I would have liked to pay for my room/room service and bar orders at the end of my stay. Paying for coffee at 8:30 in the morning at the door was inconvenient. We also had to ask for our dirty cups to be removed from our room after it had been turned over.

All the staff, from the reception to the breakfast, were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was modern, clean and well equipped. Even the bottles of water in the fridge were a welcome surprise. It was nice to see the iconic building , which I remember from my years in Coventry, has maintained its character with nice reminders of its previous life. For two guests with breakfast (which was excellent) I also thought it was good value for money. If I revisit Coventry I will not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

For me there really was nothing to dislike. The only bonus would be a car park which would obviously be impossible given the hotels location but the NCP car park is a couple of minutes walk, is relatively secure and not over expensive (£9.95 for 24hrs).

Location

We were given a room that was already occupied by someone else. Luckily we realised immediately as soon as we opened the room door and left immediately. The breakfast was not the nicest of all. Hardly any selection of Cereals, most of the fruits were already gone and the pancakes offered in the breakfast menú werent freshly made, but frozen pancakes re-heated in a microwave. For the price I paid for the room and breakfast, this was a rip-off. My husband Avocado toast was not a fresh Avocado but one of those that came inside a jar. The flavour is immediately noticed, fresh, versus ready made from a jar. Please serve descent meals.

The ambience at the hotel was lovely. The decor was quirky, fun and different , and the history of it came alive. The staff were friendly and relaxed and it was very clean. The location is brilliant for Coventry, everything in the city centre is in walking distance, and the hotel were very good at informing guests at what events were going on in the city (we went for the Arctic Monkeys concert but Motofest was on at the weekend as well) -and they had full transport guides, maps of the festival etc -it was excellent. Breakfast was lovely

In the bar late at night after the gig they could have done with an extra bar person/door person - service was slow but it was busy.

The bedroom was very clean. The bed was superb and one could sleep well after a day running around the City Centre. Delighted with the tea-making facilities - they were abundant. Towels were clean and soft.Temperature in room was perfect. Breakfast was very good - ample choice of juices, cereals, yogurts, Continental, English Breakfast, fruit and sweet pastries. The guy serving us at breakfast was very professional and still made us feel warmly served. Check in and out was very smooth. The hotel - previously used as the hub for a newspaper, has maintained the retro features yet was adequately transformed to accommodate today's demands.

Check in at 3:00 pm. We arrived early in the day due to flights to Birmingham Airport. Luggage was safely kept for us but it would have been brilliant if we could settle in early, given that we notified the Hotel earlier.

The hotel and rooms are gorgeous, and the level of attention to detail in the decor and furnishing is fantastic! It is a fabulous getaway right in the heart of the city, and feels luxurious and indulgent. The lovely vintage-style Roberts radio provided in the room was a much-appreciated touch! A tiny detail that makes a big impression, for instance, is that the shower controls are very easy to read and use. As someone who has unintentionally drenched themselves at various hotels trying to switch between the rain shower and handheld options, having the lovely, easy-to-use shower and temperature controls at the Telegraph is an example of the consideration that has gone into the design elements here!

This would be nitpicking, to be honest, but the only thing I can think of is that it would be helpful to have moisturiser provided with the (currently excellent) toiletries, and having USB charging slots in addition to or in place of plugs may be useful for travellers.

Excellent service from the moment we arrived at the reception desk. could not fault any member of staff at all, we came in to contact with front of house staff, bar staff, Waiting personnel and also chamber maids etc. And I can honestly say that they all give an excellent service and are professional. It was a pleasure to stay in this hotel and would definitely recommend and stay again. we stayed in the Old dark room which sounds strange, but it was a really great room with everything you could possibly want, etc a biscuit. But I can forgive them for that. Food was great at the bar, and the breakfast was amazing.

Nothing, absolutely nothing.
