I had a diabetic hypo late at night during my stay. When I called the reception a lovely young man called prince came to my aid immediately and brought me some fruit and snacks to bring my blood sugar back up and was an amazing help. As well as this. After checking out I had gotten half an hour away I realised that I had left my diamond wedding ring on bedside table. I phoned reception again and spoke to a man called Allen who was extremely helpful. He immediately checked my room and found the ring. I cannot thank both of them enough. Excellent place to stay. I Could not recommend it enough. Beautiful building. Lovely grounds. Nice clean room and outstanding staff who went above and beyond to help me during my stay. - Carole

The hotel room was quiet and spacious. The evening meal and the breakfast were of a high standard and the staff were excellent. They understood the products and were able to talk about options with knowledge. They were genuine and made the experience very pleasant and enjoyable. Lucy greeted us on arrival at the restaurant and was outstanding, very welcoming, professional and also friendly. The reception staff were very courteous and the process of checking in and out was smooth. The staff were very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. They actually addressed you by name and this made the whole process feel personable - treating you as an individual and not a number. A great skill to have.

I thought that whilst the room was of a good size the lights seem to be off centre meaning it was difficult to read. The common ways looked a little tired but the room was good value for money.

The hotel/grounds are lovely but the service is impeccable. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming since the minute we arrived. They went above and beyond to make our stay as special as possible. Special thanks to Alan on reception, Debbie in the restaurant and Kieran behind the bar. Not only did they remember our son's name and interacted with him a lot, they remembered details from our conversations. They made us feel special and gave us their time. Genuine interest is rare to come by these days in the service industry. We travel a lot and was quite taken back by them this weekend. All the staff members greeted us with smiles and morning/evening wishes. Hotel is close to lots of amenities such as Showcase Cinema (reclining chairs), Laser tag, Karaoke, Bowling and lots of restaurants, supermarkets and pubs. Coombe Abbey is a 10 minute drive away, currently has a 60-90 light trial. 45 minute drive to Cadburys World/Birmingham City Centre. Decore is dated but is in keep with the tradition feel of the Manor House. Very cosy and loved the open fires. Beds were comfy. Liked the still and sparkling water features in the corridors. Would be even better if they also had ice machines. Food was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have the Head Chef cook our breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. This is reflected in the cost of food, although breakfast was included. A main dish is minimum £20, max £35 and sides are roughly £5. Lots of outdoor seating with scenic views. Will definitely be returning :)

The hotel was comfortable and elegant. The receptionist was delightful. Our room which was situated in a different building to the main hall was large with a huge comfy bed and the heating was controllable. We liked having a bath and a separate large shower cubicle. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, the waitress was friendly and efficient.

We had to wait quite a while for the room to be prepared for us. It might have been nice to have been offered a complimentary drink whilst waiting. We booked the room well in advance for a birthday celebration but on the day, the room rate had been reduced considerably but we were told that because we had booked through Booking.com we could not have the discounted rate. Worth bearing in mind in future and would always book with free cancellation.

Staff were excellent, from checking in, to drinks in bar on our evening return, through to breakfast, friendly, helpful & welcoming. Hotel fully suited our requirements good location & value for money. Nice to see Christmas tree in reception and could smell a nice seasonal festive fragrance when entering.

Very minor point, there's a private dining room to left of reception desk which had a family luncheon/gathering underway-door was open whilst we were checking and it was rather noisy. . .not a problem but it could be so some guests so perhaps it would be helpful and more private if the door was closed when practically possible.

Very clean and well presented room. Very comfortable mattress. No air conditioning but fan is provided and the window can open to let in fresh air. Room is made up each day with fresh towels. Elemis toiletries. Flat screen TV with freeview channels. Great breakfast provided in room cost. On the Friday & Sunday it was cooked to order but on the Saturday it was buffet style. There were also ample cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts & cold meats available.

The hotel is a popular wedding venue and on both the Saturday & Sunday it hosted weddings. My room (205) overlooked the entrance to the to where the receptions take place. The music noise was minimal but attendees come out of the building to smoke and chat at the entrance.

The staff, all the team were lovely from check in to check out. Alan at reception was charming and professional even under pressure. Debbie and the other staff at breakfast made sure we had everything we could possibly need. Quality of the food at dinner and breakfast was also exceptional. Room was lovely and bed was huge and very comfortable. A wedding was taking place, but as a non wedding guest my stay wasn't impacted at all, which is rare. We had our dog with us and the staff made a fuss of her, good walking in the grounds too. Loved it all and hope to be back.

The drunken wedding guest who tried to enter our room at 3am...but this was nothing to do with the hotel and they handled the situation well.

the hotel is a lovely building with several rooms going off the main reception. The main building has bedrooms above at the front and the back. It has a lovely sweeping garden all around with a church around the back. The room used for the wedding had glass doors that led onto the garden. on the side of the hotel was a newer building with more bedrooms

my only complaint was we were in the external rooms of the hotel and you had to leave the main building go outside and walk around the hotel to reach it. we stayed here in August this time but the last time it was December and the temperature was extremely cold

I loved EVERYTHING. This is a very old hotel, built about 1678. It is stately hotel, located in a beautiful garden setting with sweeping lawns. There are 2 small villages located within a very short walking distance. There is a pub/restaurant in each village. The breakfast staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They were delightful. There is a lovely outdoor patio area with umbrellas, tables and chairs, overlooking a woodland and gardens. It is so relaxing to spend time there enjoying a drink, pot of tea or what you fancy! You will not be disappointed if you choose this hotel.

Because of the age of the hotel built in 1678, there is no air-conditioning in the rooms. The weather was very hot when we stayed there for 3 nights. The bedroom was stifling. I asked the receptionist for a fan and she quickly arranged for a fan to be delivered to our room. At least I could get to sleep.

The Manor’s look takes you to a different era. The estate has a very quiet ambiance. Spacious rooms Great buffet breakfasts at weekends, less choice during week days Friendly and willing to help staff

For a 4-star hotel you expect to find some amenities in your room, not just a generic shower and hand gel bottle The breakfast room furniture shows the age, and cleaning the windows and curtains (cobwebs and dust) should be incorporated in the daily tasks
