Hotel Art Santander

Room was very nice indeed, bed was extremely comfortable and the decor was very well done. The bathroom was lovely, with a very large rainfall shower together with a traditional hand held unit. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner bottles were attached to the wall of the cubicle. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The reception staff were very friendly and as helpfull as can be. Buffet breakfast had the usual choices, and sets you up for the day.

Not much I didn't like to be honest. If I was being picky I would say the view from the room. I was given a room with a sea view, which was a bonus. However it looked out onto the back of some run down apartment blocks, with the sea visible over the top of them. Wasn't a big issue, and I would be happy to have the same room if I ever return.

Breakfast was very comprehensive, and enjoyable. The room was a good size and clean and had a view of the sea. The hotel 'ART' lived up to its name, stylish decor and art all around, even on the roof of the lobby. The reception staff were all excellent and really helpful with guiding us to restaurants etc, and couldn't have been more pleasant. The hotel was high up but a lift was a big help and also the escalators within the pavements in some streets, not so good for anyone requiring assistance.

We were pleased to have an espresso machine in the room, but dismayed to find, after the first two cups, we had to buy extra capsules at 50c a time! We felt this was a bit mean and nit-picking of the management.

The location was excellent. Located 2 minutes from the old centre of Santander it is ideal for sightseeing. The view across the harbour was excellent, I was located at the front of the hotel with a small balcony, thought it would be noisy but the neighbourhood is residential and very quiet, ideal for a good night's sleep in a very large and comfortable double bed. Will return.

Not much, little things like wobbly light switches by the bathroom and the shower positioning was a bit awkward with the door being next to the lavatory. Could have done with a shelf in the shower.

Great location and value for money! For a 3* hotel they have everything you need a decent price. Very close to city center, a few minutes walk. About 18-20 min to the bus station and the trains. They have direct busses to Bilbao or Santillana del Mar - very nice cities that you can visit on a few days trip. You can also rent a car, they have some large paid parkings, the free parking is difficult in the city-quite busy. Because Santander is a hilly city they have elevators and automatic stairs that can take you up the streets really fast-so easy access to the city. The hotel is looking good, the room was very clean, they clean it each day. In the bathroom we had basic toiletries. A Nespresso coffee machine is available, first 2 coffees are free :) Very friendly staff (Evelyne was so supportive and nice, explaining us about the city attractions). We didn't took breakfast, but they have this option. Just a few minutes away from restaurants, bars and stores.

The bed was not very comfy, but we managed -it was not such a big issue. Also our room had lateral view, I think the sights from the front rooms are better (maybe different price).

We had visited the hotel before so knew what to expect and were not disappointed. Our room had a beautiful huge balcony with a great view overlooking the town to the port but unfortunately it was raining! The room itself was large and well appointed with a coffee machine provided. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of options both hot and cold. The parking is secure, if you need something out of your car the receptionist goes with you, important as we were loaded for a trip to the UK. The hotel is ideally situated, follow the escalators/lift down to the front and you are immediately in the main area of Santander.

The weather!!

Excellent breakfast, very pleasent staff. The room was spacous with good storage including a mini-fridge with very reasonable prices on refreshments. The decor is modern and largely in good condition.

The pillows were too thick/firm, but that's a persona preference. The hotel is on steep terrain, so while I appreciate the exercise, it would require a car or taxis for anyone not comfortable walking up and down hills i.e. the nearby bars and restaurants are all down hill. There was a low ceiling in the bathroom, that may catch taller guests out.

Lovely quirky Hotel with its 'Art' Only had breakfast which was ample and plenty. Great decor throughout the rooms and whole building. Parking was a plus for us, garage was different but staff helped you to enter the lift. Reception girls very friendly and helpful. For us spoke good english!

This was just an overnight stay ready for ferry next morning. Seemed to be difficult to get to by car, no parking nearby so garage helpful. No idea what area is like. Quite uphill on outskirts of town, did see elevator lifts for public use.

We had a room on the fourth floor and it had an excellent view out over the bay at Santander. The room was very clean and airy. The bathroom was brilliant with a really large shower. The staff went out of their way to help and were extremely friendly. Breakfast was served at a great times. We did not have an evening meal there so cannot comment on this. There is secure underground parking accessed by a lift for the car and you are guided in and out by staff. A really good place to stay.

I cannot think of anything bad to say about the place.

Even though we checked in late at midnight, we were given a nice room with a beautiful view. They also prepared a romantic setup as it was our anniversary. The breakfast was also great (tortilla, warm dishes, sweets, great coffee..) and at a good price (9eur per person). They also printed out our boarding pass as we were flying the day after. Great staff! The location was good and near the centre although it's up the hill.

Everything was great. If anything the location as it's up the hill but close to city centre.

The view from the room was awesome! Staff extremely friendly and helpful when asked for bigger mugs.

One of the doors in the shower was missing so all water would go to the floor. I only realised this too late for changing room but that should have been mentioned by the staff or some discount offered at the checkout for the inconvenience. Furthermore, the shower head was not removable and shower cuff were not provided so you had no choice but wash your hair every time unless you had brought with you your own.
